Bug#898202: Current state

2019-02-12 Thread Scott Hardin

Hello!

Just wanted to drop a line and say that I'm still working on this. 
Sorry, I'm a little bit of a sloth sometimes.

All of the patches that were previously being applied by the last
maintainer have since been merged into upstream. Also, mp3gain has since
seemingly abandoned its own fork of mpg123, making things wy easier.
I was able to get mp3gain to compile against Debian's own mpg123 package.

Next will be making any updates necessary to manpages/documentation and
other package-related stuff.

I think it adds quite a bit of value, and of course it should be fixed
upstream at some point, if not immediately.

Could you file an upstream bug, please?

I've now removed the sed line alltogether- I didn't find a solution
without adding a patch that would have to be updated with every release.
Maybe there is a way to override the project_version with meson command
line flag, but i wasn't able to find anything. And I'm not sure how much
value it adds if sway --version adds the ~rc2 to the output and if so,
that should probably be fixed upstream.

Bug#922155: ITP: matrix-archive-keyring -- OpenPGP archive key for the Matrix.org package repository

2019-02-12 Thread Linda Lapinlampi

Owner: Linda Lapinlampi

* Package name: matrix-archive-keyring
  Version : 2015.12.09
Upstream Author : The Matrix.org Foundation CIC
* URL : https://matrix.org/packages/debian/repo-key.asc
* License : GPLv3+ (key: public domain)
  Programming Lang: Make, sh
Description : OpenPGP archive key for the Matrix.org package repository

The Matrix.org Debian package repository distributes digitally signed
releases of Matrix.org related packages. This package contains the
archive key used to verify those files, required by apt(8).

matrix-archive-keyring will also attempt to harden the apt-secure(8)
infrastructure by removing known previously installed (untrusted)
Matrix.org archive key(s) from apt(8)'s global trust database, which
have often been erroneously added via apt-key(8).

Hi, so there's few packages in Debian already such as matrix-synapse.
[1] And then there's Debian packages from third-party Matrix.org and
Riot.im package repositories at upstream.

The issue: Signing keys added to /etc/apt/trusted.gpg{,.d} will be
trusted by apt(8) for every repository, including Debian's main package
repository.

I'm currently seeing a "trend" on the Internet where tutorials and
guides suggest to use "apt-key add" to install Matrix.org's package
repository archive key recklessly without any regard to apt-secure(8).
More so, Matrix.org links to one of these guides itself. [2] Riot.im
(related to the same people running Matrix.org) also suggests "apt-key
add". [3] Synapse 0.99.0's `INSTALL.md` guide suggests to download a key
and add it via apt-key(8) too, [4] while this package is also available
from Debian.

The solution: A keyring package, as suggested by apt-secure(8).

If the sysadmin wants to install from Matrix.org or Riot.im package
repositories (instead of Debian's), fine. Who am I to argue? At least I
I can make their life more convenient while hardening APT's security for
everyone, while Debian doesn't have packages available for every
upstream package yet.

I have made this package install an OpenPGP-armored keyring to
/usr/share/keyrings (instead of /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d); I'm also using
a db_install(8) postinst script to ensure that the keys in question
don't show up in two keyrings at once.

I will be also looking to configure debconf(1) to ask if the user also
wants to install the appropriate sources.list(5) file for the Matrix.org
and/or Riot.im repository with signed-by option.

Packages similar to this one exist in Debian: ubuntu-keyring,
leap-archive-keyring, pkg-mozilla-archive-keyring, etc.

I will be looking for a sponsor. I know someone from the Matrix
Packaging Team at Debian whom I'll be asking to kindly sponsor this
package. If they refuse, I know where to ask.

Thanks for your attention.

It looks like the clean target does not undo this change, so there will

A Javascript datetime library that allows you to manipulate date/times using
PHP date-time formats in javascript. This library was built with an
intention
to read and write date/timestamps to the database easily when working with
PHP

timestamp to database in one format, but displaying it on client or html
forms
in another format. Maintaining a consistent PHP Date time format for both
server

Bug#888580: cascade of FTBFS

2019-02-12 Thread Andreas Tille
Control: tags -1 help

Hi Paolo,

in my attempt to see what I can do for #921779 which breaks several
packages I stumbled upon your attempt to adopt doxygen. Thanks a lot
for this brave intention. ;-)

I realised that the watch file did not work properly - feel free to `git
am` the attached patch. I also noticed that there are remaining lintian
errors:

E: doxygen source: source-is-missing templates/html/jquery.js line length is
32401 characters (>512)
N:
N:The source of the following file is missing. Lintian checked a few
N:possible paths to find the source, and did not find it.

N:
N:If this is a false-positive, please report a bug against Lintian.

E: doxygen source: source-is-missing templates/html/svgpan.js line length is

You should override the latter two since these are false positives. I'm
not sure how to deal with the jquery.js one since this is potentially an
issue with lots of dependencies - I remember discussions about this
which I did not followed.

Regarding the ratt results[1] the issue

librostlab: ! LaTeX Error: File 'listofitems.sty' not found.

can be solved by a doxygen-latex Build-Depends - at least I added this
to frobby in Git[2] which helped against this very error but after this it
was running into:

[572]
! Undefined control sequence.
l.211 ...+t-1$. The inner slice will have $(a\text
  {'},b)$, where $a^\prime$ ...

?.
! Emergency stop.
l.211 ...+t-1$. The inner slice will have $(a\text
  {'},b)$, where $a^\prime$ ...

! ==> Fatal error occurred, no output PDF file produced!

I have no idea how to fix this.

Kind regards

   Andreas.

Description : filemanager extension to configure programs to launch

FileManager-Actions is a file-manager extension whose principal
function is to allow the user to add arbitrary actions to the
file-manager context menus, graphically via the FileManager-Actions
-Config-Tool. These actions may be organized in menus and submenus,
exported and shared with other desktop environments.

This is the successor of nautilus-actions, which now also works in Nemo and
Caja.

Bug#922126: RFA: xen-tools -- Tools to manage Xen virtual servers

2019-02-12 Thread Axel Beckert
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal
Forwarded:
https://xen-tools.org/pipermail/xen-tools-discuss/2019-February/001144.html

Hi,

TL;DR: xen-tools could need a new upstream _and_ package maintainer who
is using it more often than I do nowadays.

2.5 years ago I changed to a different team at work where I no more
maintain any hosting infrastructure. So the only places where I still
need and use xen-tools are on one server at home and one for voluntary
work in an association. But in both cases new DomUs are rather seldom,
i.e. only every other year or so.

On the other hand the amount of pull requests in the past few years
clearly shows that xen-tools is used and needed, and that especially
regular updates for supporting new Ubuntu releases is wanted.

The past 2.5 years with (upstream) releases only being prompted by
Debian freezes show clearly that I can't keep up with those needs and
expectations (and have different priorities).

So I'd be happy if others would take over the lead in maintaining
xen-tools, primarily upstream, but probably best also as Debian package
maintainer. I'll continue to contribute and can also continue to host
the website at https://xen-tools.org/ and the (Mailman-based) mailing
lists.

And since I never managed to finish the rewrite of the original website
in something more maintainable than pure HTML, the new maintainer is not
only allowed but also encouraged to redo the website as he or she
prefers. Moving its hosting over to e.g. GitHub pages or similar, is
fine for me, too.

The primary upstream and package git repo is currently at
https://github.com/xen-tools/xen-tools

The website's git repo is currently at
https://github.com/xen-tools/website

The mailing lists including archives are at
https://xen-tools.org/mailman/listinfo/

For completeness, here are the current details of the binary and source
packages:

Bug#922122: ITP: python-periphery -- Peripheral I/O

2019-02-12 Thread eamanu15
Hi!

For next release I recommend you use `debhelper-compat (= 12)`
This way you avoid have the compat file.

Just an opinion :-)

Bug#810210: RFP: rethinkdb -- scalable document database with push support

2019-02-12 Thread Andreas Tille
Hi,

I've commited a first rough packaging attemt for rethinkdb to Salsa[1].
It should be no means maintained by the Debian Med team but since it is
a predependency of my final target augur[2] I simply started in the med
team space on salsa. I'd be happy if any volunteer would pick up this
work and continue - may be with packaging some missing Build-Depends.

This excerpt from the build log shows some open issues:

There are some external dependencies (bluebird, admin-deps, re2) which
are not packaged for Debian yet and the dependencies gtest and v8 are
not properly found by the configure script. Most probably also
browserify needs to be packaged - I have no hope that my hack[3] to
accept browserify-lite by the configure script will turn out successful
later.

Any volunteer?

Kind regards

Andreas.

  Programming Lang: Go
Description : Pure golang package for reading and writing xz-compressed
files

Package xz This Go language package supports the reading and writing of
xz compressed streams. It includes also a gxz command for compressing
and decompressing data. The package is completely written in Go and
doesn't have any dependency on any C code.

Rationale: This is a build dependency of github.com/containers/storage.

I intend to maintain this package under the pkg-go umbrella at
https://salsa.debian.org/go-team/packages/golang-github-ulikunitz-xz

Bug#922089: ITP: golang-github-mtrmac-gpgme -- Go wrapper for the GPGME library

2019-02-12 Thread Reinhard Tartler
I was running into issues with getting the testsuite pass during a package
build. The testsuite does pass when I 'go get' the library and call it
manually with 'go test'. I straced the failing execution and came to the
conclusion that something funny must be going on with interacting with
gpg-agent.

During this investigation, I've noticed that this repository is a fork of
github.com/proglottis/gpgme, which we already have in debian. I'll
therefore suspend my work on this package for now and will try to patch
github.com/containers/storage to compile against the original version
instead. If that doesn't work out, I may need to get back to this ITP...

Best,

Adam has uploaded your package not knowing about this discussion, but
nevertheless I’d like you to commit things and push then to
http://salsa.debian.org/debian/vlan — I had a typo in the original mail.
