Bug#922952: ITP: simdjson -- Parsing gigabytes of JSON per second
I don't know about official policy, but I think you could make your bug not RC by detecting whether the current system can support the package in some reasonable wail and failing more gracefully than with SIGILL. It's not a requirement that all packages work on all systems. Open-vm-tools doesn't do squat if you aren't running on top of vmware; pcscd is remarkably useless without a smartcard reader; etc. I think it ought to be fine to have a package that is only useful with some given hardware provided that you're reasonable about detecting requirements, and that you don't place stronger requirements than are actulaly needed by your package. --Sam

Could you name it something else that includes either dietlibc in its name or at least libc or similar? I do not exclude, that it may include support for musl for future. I am not sure, whether overly generic name now is worse then misleading source package name in future. Reading the description and the objections, maybe a name like "alternate-libc-build-helpers"? -kgd

(And then there are many contributors who will never use this as they are contributing in other areas, eg translation or graphics or testing or foo.) I'd suggest to reword to: This package is only useful for people developing software.
