OK, makes sense. Thanks.

OK, let me check this. I would assume that you just set debian/compat and
work with that.

Hello!

I'd like to find new maintainers for some of my packages because I have
had less time for Debian. I'd like to focus the small amount of time
that I have for Debian on other things.

For now, I intend to do my best to keep maintaining this package.
However, I will probably retitle this bug with the 'O:' prefix at some
point, indicating that I have orphaned it.

Feel free to upload a new version of the package and remove me from the
uploaders in debian/control.

Feel free to contact me with any questions. Also note that I always
willing to sponsor uploads!

Cheers,

Bug#995829: ITK v5 in salsa

2021-10-25 Thread Steven Robbins
Hi,

I finally spent a few hours last night to get ITK v5 sources building. There's
still packaging work to do but I've pushed the interim results into salsa.
Note: as previously discussed, python bindings are removed.

On Tuesday, October 12, 2021 1:34:22 A.M. CDT ghisv...@gmail.com wrote:

Yep. But ITK v4 has issues building with C++11 and is currently scheduled for
removal from Debian. I spent some time a week or two ago to see if I could fix
this and it seems like more work than I'm willing to put in. So I think
Debian itself is going to force a removal of ITK v4. For this reason, I've
just committed v5 into mainline of salsa. If desired, a branch can be made to
continue v4 development.

All right. Since I

  * seldom program in Python,
  * unlike many Debian Developers, do not code for a living, and
  * attend to Debian development admittedly inconsistently,

I might make a suboptimal sponsor; but if no more suitable sponsor
appears then I might be available, to the extent to which a suboptimal
sponsor is better than none. At least I know a little about spectral
methods, for what that's worth; and I've been a Debian Developer, though
an obscure one, since 2005.

If you like, wait a week or so for a more suitable sponsor and then, if
none appears, at your discretion, let me know how I can help.

Meanwhile, one hadn't expected to encounter a high-performance,
serious-pedigree, heavy-duty MPI numerical code in Python, but rather
in C++ or the like, so this could be interesting.
