I think it might have been the built-in ido mode, if you're using one at
all--IIRC you weren't using one last we discussed our Emacs configs and
preferences.

That's totally reasonable, and in fact in upstream Elpy issue tracker
there was a discussion about whether the future of Elpy would be an
extension to lsp-mode.

It's ok, I learned a lot on the way, and never would have discovered
find-file-in-project and Ivy/Counsel/Swiper. I hear you! So much work
is keeping up with all the breaking changes... Elpy had a bit of a
crisis when Jorgen Schaefer retired, Gaby Launay carried the banner, but
then RSI got him :-( If you want to send a message of
support/solidarity, his email's in the control file.

Quite possibly yes. That said, I *really* don't like the feeling of
being beaten, so I took a crack at it today, and I think the cause of
the total dysfunction of rg-el might actually be a bug in our ripgrep.
I'll send a follow up email momentarily that CCs the maintainers.

Package: wnpp

I intend to orphan the mp3check package.

The package description is:
Prints several errors and warnings concerning the consistency of mp3 files.
Lists stream attributes (color). Layer 1,2,3, mpeg1.0+2.0 are currently
supported. CRC check for layer 3.
 .
mp3check is very useful for incomplete mp3 detection as it can be used to
scan through your mp3 collection and find all mp3s that aren't perfect. Good
for use with many file sharing systems.

Bug#997964: RFA: diod -- I/O forwarding server for 9P

2021-10-27 Thread Євгеній Мещеряков
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal
Control: affects -1 src:diod

I request an adopter for the diod package. I'm not using the package
anymore. The package has low popcon score. The last release is from
2014, but the upstream has recently become active on Github.

The package description is:
diod is an I/O forwarding server that implements a variant of the 9P protocol
from (9P2000.L) the Plan 9 operating system. When paired with a modern version
of the v9fs Linux 9P client, diod allows a file system to be exported over a
TCP/IP network in a manner similar to NFS.
 .
The file system that is exported can itself be NFS or a parallel file system
like Lustre or GPFS. This can be done with minimal loss of distributed
semantics because the v9fs client (when used with appropriate mount options)
has no page or directory cache - all I/O operations trigger a network request.
The page cache effectively moves to the server system, with diod appearing as
a multi-threaded user application accessing the file system in the usual way
 through the VFS.

Bug#996087: typeshed ready?

2021-10-27 Thread Antoine Beaupré
Hi!

Update here, there's a package here made by terceiro:

https://salsa.debian.org/terceiro/typeshed/

Reading this post:

https://lists.debian.org/debian-python/2021/10/msg4.html

it seems like the only concern remaining in this otherwise very useful
package is the question of licensing:

https://github.com/typeshed-internal/stub_uploader/issues/31

... which was just resolved upstream.

So this is ready to go, I think. I'm using the package and it works
well!

lintian has the following complaints:

E: python3-typeshed: python-package-missing-depends-on-python
E: typeshed source: python3-depends-but-no-python3-helper python3-typeshed
W: typeshed source: newer-standards-version 4.6.0.1 (current is 4.5.1)

thanks so much for this, very useful!

Hi Bastian,

I'm glad to see interest on this package :)

You are very welcome to sponsor the package.
Let me update my git repo at salsa with last upstream version and Debian Policy
related changes.

I've also worked finding toybox-coreutils compatibility issues by building
some Debian key-packages:
  https://salsa.debian.org/friki/toy-experiment/-/raw/master/report.html
(sorry for the 'raw' link without a proper html preview)

Please text me to share your thoughts and needs about the package and I'll try
to adapt to it.

Regards,
