Bug#1000594: ITP: sfeed -- Collection of command-line tools for processing RSS and Atom feeds

2021-11-25 Thread Sebastian Crane
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Sebastian Crane
X-Debbugs-Cc: debian-de...@lists.debian.org

* Package name: sfeed
  Version : 1.0
  Upstream Author : Hiltjo Posthuma
* URL : https://codemadness.org/sfeed-simple-feed-parser.html
* License : ISC
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : Collection of command-line tools for processing RSS and
Atom feeds

sfeed is a collection of command-line tools for converting RSS and Atom
feeds to and from other formats and for fetching, merging, filtering and
sorting feed items.

I use sfeed for processing RSS and Atom feeds in scripts (videos of my
sfeed-powered Telex-style ticker tape available upon request!) The
conversion to email (mbox) format to read in an email client can be very
useful, as email clients have features that are not typically found in
feedreaders, such as being able to forward items on to others.

sfeed has already been packaged for a number of other distributions
(notably Alpine Linux, FreeBSD, NetBSD and OpenBSD).

I'd like to maintain this package - it's pretty small, so I think I
would be able to maintain it alone. However, I am not a Debian
Maintainer, so I'll be requesting sponsorship in due course!

Bug#1000604: ITP: golang-github-digitalocean-go-libvirt -- Pure Go interface for interacting with libvirt

2021-11-25 Thread Mathias Gibbens
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Mathias Gibbens
X-Debbugs-CC: debian-de...@lists.debian.org, debian...@lists.debian.org

* Package name: golang-github-digitalocean-go-libvirt
  Version : 0.0~git20210615.eaff166-1
  Upstream Author : DigitalOcean
* URL : https://github.com/digitalocean/go-libvirt
* License : Apache-2.0
  Programming Lang: Go
  Description : Pure Go interface for interacting with libvirt

 Provides a pure Go interface for interacting with libvirt. Rather than
 using libvirt's C bindings, this package makes use of libvirt's RPC
 interface. Connections to the libvirt server may be local, or remote.
 RPC packets are encoded using the XDR standard as defined by RFC 4506.

This package is a dependency for updating golang-github-digitalocean-
go-qemu, which is in turn a dependency of packaging LXD (ITP #768073)
and will be team-maintained within the Debian Go Packaging Team.

I am initially packaging the most recient version of golang-github-
digitalocean-go-libvirt that works nicely with golang-github-
digitalocean-go-qemu; there are a couple newer commits, but they change
the API and golang-github-digitalocean-go-qemu has not yet been updated
for those changes.

A typical Debian system already has two such
databases: /etc/mime.types /usr/share/mime/globs

I do not mean to challenge you, nor to discourage you,
but am merely curious: why a third database?

As said in the description: "It is generated from the mime.types file
found in Unix systems, but has no dependency on a filesystem since it
includes the contents of the database as an ML datastructure.". Whether
you consider this worthwhile or not is a personal opinion, I guess.
