Having this alternative available in the archive is fine, of course, but
the Haskell team are unlikely to be willing to adopt it for
team-maintained packages. It is unlikely to be judged a worthwhile
transition, given the complexity of the existing tools.

I intend to orphan the libmp3-info-perl package. That was a dependency
for mp3burn and I don't need it anymore.

The package description is:
This Perl library gives a set of function for manipulating info tags in MP3
files and retrieving technical information from them.
 .
This package was formerly known as MPEG::MP3Info and still has a wrapper
for applications that refer to it using the old name.
 .
The Debian package also provides a simple tool for editing MP3 tags - mp3id.

Description : F/LOSS search and analytics suite

Starting with v7.11, Elasticsearch is dual-licensed under SSPL and
Elastic License, neither of them are DFSG-compatible. Amazon Web
Services forked the Apache-2.0 Elasticsearch source and released
OpenSearch as F/LOSS fork of it.

Since there is some initial compatibility with Elasticsearch promised,
OpenSearch might serve as drop-in replacement for the former. Thus some
F/LOSS software which depended on Elasticsearch (RDF4J, for example)
could be made to rely on OpenSearch instead.

The biggest blocker for now is gradle (see #926714). Build system
requires at least v6.6.

Bug#920148: RFP: python-mapillary-tools -- Useful tools and scripts related to Mapillary

2021-12-22 Thread Wookey
I had a need for this so had a go at packagaing it.

Turns out the the dependency pymp4 is not in debian, so I packaged that too.

However the tests for pymp4 are giving an error "NameError: name
'String' is not defined ", and if you ignore that and build
mapillary-tools anyway you get test errors there, and if you press on
and then try to use it, you hit the same issue:
  File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/pymp4/parser.py", line 86, in
"major_brand" / String(4),
NameError: name 'String' is not defined

This is the offending code:

My python-foo is very weak so I have no idea what's up here.

I also had some trouble with a .eggs directory being created but not
cleaned up

That makes sense, then. Good luck packaging this!

I've created a new branch updated to last upstream version 0.8.6.

No errors fixed since 0.8.5 so I've trimmed down the package removing "pending"
(experimental) toys.

3 Lintian errors must be fixed:
  E: toybox source: source-is-missing tests/files/elf/fdstatic
  E: toybox source: source-is-missing tests/files/elf/ndk-elf-note-full
  E: toybox source: source-is-missing tests/files/elf/ndk-elf-note-short

I think dCopyright Files-Excluded should help, but I've messed up in my tests.

See more details here:

I see that #978476 has been closed; are you still thinking of
packaging this? I'm not clear why this would be helpful in Debian,
better than, say, using a virtual env or chroot? If you're working in
a LTS version of some distro, surely you're better off in a chroot
anyway, as that gives you the exact setup of the distro you're working
in.
