Bug#1040761: ITP: astropy-iers-data -- Earth Rotation and Leap Second tables for astropy

2023-07-09 Thread Ole Streicher

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Ole Streicher
X-Debbugs-Cc: debian-de...@lists.debian.org, debian-as...@lists.debian.org
Affects: src:astropy

* Package name: astropy-iers-data
  Upstream Author : Astropy Developers
* URL : https://github.com/astropy/astropy-iers-data
* License : BSD-3-Clause
  Programming Lang: Python 3
  Description : Earth Rotation and Leap Second tables for the astropy core
package

This package provides access to the tables provided by the International
Earth Rotation and Reference Systems (IERS) service, in particular the
Earth Orientation data allowing interpolation of published UT1-UTC and
polar motion values for given times. This package is not currently meant
to be used directly by users, and only meant to be used from the core
astropy package.

It was cut-off from the astropy core package and will be a new
dependency of astropy.

I will maintain the package within the Debian Astro team in Salsa:

Best regards

Ole

Note I have completely done the wrong order, first did the packaging
wrong (downloads from internet during build)
then read:

You can find my packaging work at:

Would be great to have it for the next stable release:

  Description : simple svg parsing library

NanoSVG is a simple stupid single-header-file SVG parse. The output of
the parser is a list of cubic bezier shapes.

The library suits well for anything from rendering scalable icons in
your editor application to prototyping a game.

NanoSVG supports a wide range of SVG features, but something may be
missing, feel free to create a pull request!

The shapes in the SVG images are transformed by the viewBox and
converted to specified units. That is, you should get the same looking
data as your designed in your favorite app.

NanoSVG can return the paths in few different units. For example if you
want to render an image, you may choose to get the paths in pixels, or
if you are feeding the data into a CNC-cutter, you may want to use
millimeters.

The units passed to NanoSVG should be one of: 'px', 'pt', 'pc' 'mm',
'cm', or 'in'. DPI (dots-per-inch) controls how the unit conversion is
done.

If you don't know or care about the units stuff, "px" and 96 should get
you going.

I will be packaging this library under the Debian 3-D Printing Packages
team as a build-dependency of slic3r-prusa.

  Description : Python client for ECMWF web services API

Binary package names: python3-ecmwf-api-client pypy-ecmwf-api-client

 ECMWF WebAPI is a set of services developed by ECMWF to allow
 users from the outside to access some internal features and
 data of the centre.
 .
 This external access is limited and managed by the User
 Profile access (Member State, Commercial customers, ECMWF
 staff member...).
 Some of these services are public and some other are
 restricted to the Archive Access.
 .
 Anonymous access is the default type of access, with no
 configuration needed. However, anonymous access is only
 available for a limited set of datasets, and comes with a
 much lower quality of service.
 For access to all the available datasets, and an improved
 quality of service, the use of registered access is
 recommended.

This package is a dependency of eodag which is planned to be included in
Debian GIS.

   Description : Tree-like hierarchical data structure for xarray

Binary package names: python3-xarray-datatree

  Datatree provides hierarchical data structure, more flexible than
  a single xarray.Dataset object.
  It is able to represent netCDF files / Zarr stores with multiple
  nested groups in a single in-memory object, but datatree.DataTree
  objects have many other uses, such as:
  .
   * organising many related datasets, e.g. results of the same
 experiment with different parameters, or simulations of the same
 system using different models,
   * analysing similar data at multiple resolutions simultaneously,
 such as when doing a convergence study,
   * comparing heterogenous but related data, such as experimental
 and theoretical data, I/O with nested data formats such as
 netCDF / Zarr groups.
  .
  The approach used is based on benbovy's DatasetNode example, the
  basic idea is that each tree node wraps a up to a single
  xarray.Dataset. The differences are that datatree:
  .
   * uses a node structure inspired by anytree for the tree,
   * implements path-like getting and setting,
   * has functions for mapping user-supplied functions over every
 node in the tree,
   * automatically dispatches some of xarray.Dataset's API over every
 node in the tree (such as .isel),
   * has a bunch of tests,
   * has a printable representation

  Description : Build and run specific kernels inside a virtualized

virtme-ng is a tool that allows to setup a lab to experiment different
kernel versions in a safe virtualized environment, re-using the entire
filesystem of the running machine as a safe live-copy, without affecting
the real filesystem of the host.

virme-ng is a fork of virtme. It is more active than the legacy version. The
original author
has been contacted and they are ok with the fork and replacing the original
virtme from Debian
until he has time to maintain it again.

Once this package lands I will ask for the removal of the old virtme.

 * Package name: unity-java
   Version : 1.1b
   Upstream Author : Norman Gray
 * URL : https://purl.org/nxg/dist/unity
 * License : BSD-2-Clause
   Programming Lang: Java
   Description : Multi-syntax unit parsing

The library was written with the following goals:

* Producing formal grammars of the existing and proposed standard unit
  syntaxes, for reference purposes.

* Producing parsing libraries which are fast and standalone, and so
  could be conveniently used by other software; this also acts as an
  implementation of the VOUnits standard.

It is not a goal for this library to do any processing of the resulting
units, such as unit conversion or arithmetic. Parsing unit strings isn't
a deep or particularly interesting problem, but it's more fiddly than
one might expect, and so it's useful for it to be done properly once.

The package will be maintained by the Debian Astro team. It is a new
dependency of the starjava packages.

A git repository will be created at

https://salsa.debian.org/debian-astro-team/unity-java

Best regards

Ole

 Pick an executable based on CPU capabilities.
 .
 Call subarch-select with argument pairs that list CPU features
 (as in /proc/cpuinfo "flags"), and a path to execute if the flags are all
 matched. The first set of flags that match the system capabilities will select
 the given path. Arguments to the program should be passed after "--".
 .
 Also supports the x86-64 microarchitectures: x86-64-v2, x86-64-v3, v86-64-v4

* Package name: frugally-deep
  Version : 0.15.20
  Upstream Author : Tobias Hermann
* URL : https://github.com/Dobiasd/frugally-deep
* License : Expat
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : use Keras models in C++

frugally-deep is a small header-only library written in modern and pure
C++. It supports inference for sequential models and computational
graphs with a more complex topology, created with the functional API. It
re-implements a small subset of TensorFlow, i.e., the operations needed
to support prediction. frugally-deep results in a much smaller binary
size than linking against TensorFlow. It avoids temporarily allocating
additional RAM during convolutions (by not materializing the im2col
input matrix).

The package is required to update voronota.

Description:
 libplume-util-java - Plume-lib utility libraries for Java
Closes: 1035706
Changes:
 plume-util-java (1.1.0+ds-1~exp1) experimental; urgency=medium
 .
   * Ephemeral upload to experimental to clear NEW
 - As noted in the ITP, this package is needed to build all of the modules
   in the Checker Framework package (checker-framework-java). Currently,
   only the checker-qual module is being built since it has no external
   dependencies. Additional Checker Framework modules are needed for Bazel
   version 5 and would likely be helpful for other Java packages as well.
 - The one notable point about this package is that it backports a package
   split that upstream implemented last month. The purpose of that split by
   upstream was to simplify licensing. All files in this package are under
   an MIT license whereas the files in the split package (packaged in Debian
   already as "plume-hashmap-util-java") are under a GPL2 with Classpath
   Exception license. The removal of the affected files is documented in
   d/copyright.
 - ftpmasters: As always, please send me an email if you have any questions
   about this package and I will be happy to explain and update the
   packaging as needed!

Hi,

> Could I kindly ask what is the status of the packaging and if you have an

Currently waiting on the ITP: maturin [1] to finish. When it is done
then I can start to have a look again at this ITP.

Best regards,

Agathe.
