I'm still pondering if this was a good idea.
Acme.sh works pretty well and has great, out of the box, deployment
capabilities,
and minimal dependencies but the source code is not easy to understand, so
long-term
maintenance will be difficult.

Bug#1057970: RFS: protoc-gen-validate

2023-12-16 Thread Maytham Alsudany
Hi Go team,

I'm looking for a sponsor to upload protoc-gen-validate.

Adding to the protoc-gen-star thread since these packages are related.

Salsa: https://salsa.debian.org/go-team/packages/protoc-gen-validate

Dependency tree:
golang-github-envoyproxy-protoc-gen-validate
└── golang-github-lyft-protoc-gen-star

Autopkgtest: fail (due to missing protoc-gen-star from Debian archive)
Lintian: warn (no-manual-page, spelling-error-in-binary)
Piuparts: pass

Changelog:

protoc-gen-validate (1.0.2-1) UNRELEASED; urgency=medium

  * Initial release (Closes: #1057970)
  * Disable broken tests that rely on Bazel

Disabled tests:

I've disabled the tests (harness target in Makefile) by adding an empty
override_dh_auto_test to d/r due to them being broken. Explanation below:

(After a few patches,) the Go protobuf files wouldn't build
as they result in the following error:

panic: proto: file "embed.proto" is already registered
previously from:
"github.com/envoyproxy/protoc-gen-validate/tests/harness/cases/other_package/go"
currently from:
"github.com/envoyproxy/protoc-gen-validate/tests/harness/cases/yet_another_package/go"
  See https://protobuf.dev/reference/go/faq#namespace-conflict

And the cc protobuf files won't build due to needing Bazel to do so. I've tried
to circumvent the need for Bazel and I got close, but I hit a roadblock where
ld can't find types from google::protobuf. I've tried adding libprotobuf-dev to
the B-D field but the problem kept occurring.

My attempts to fix these problems can be found in the fix-tests branch of my
fork of the Salsa repo[1] (didn't want to pollute the go-team repo with badly
written, rushed commits).

Feel free to ping me on IRC (as long as my username is there, I'm not online
all the time).

Good, morning,

letsencrypt.org lists 6 bash-implementations of the acme protocol, I do
not think it is surprising that not all of them are packaged
(letsencrypt.sh/dehydrated has been available in Debian forever).

Not trying to discourage you from packaging, at a first glance acme.sh
seems to be very much alive project.

Description : convenient Pythonic interface to Globus APIs

The Globus SDK for Python provides a convenient Pythonic interface to Globus
APIs. Using this package, one can import Globus client classes and other
helpers from the globus_sdk python module.

This package would be needed to finish the packaging of
python-parsl, which in turn would be required to finish the
qiime ecosystem upgrade to version 2023.7.

For the moment, I plan to put this package under the Debian
Python team umbrella, but I'm also open to put it under the
Debian HPC team, so the people behind the Globus ecosystem
packaging also have this component on their radar. I have not
settled for a location for the repository yet, probably some
place like [1] if sticking to the Python team.

Description : Multi-class confusion matrix library

Pycm supports both input data vectors and direct matrix,
and a proper tool for post-classification model evaluation
that supports most classes and overall statistics
parameters. PyCM is the swiss-army knife of confusion
matrices, targeted mainly at data scientists that need a
broad array of metrics for predictive models and accurate
evaluation of a large variety of classifiers.

  Programming Lang: Python
Description : expand Python's enum module in Sphinx documentation

The enum_tools Sphinx extension can be used to document Enums better
than autoclass can currently. Additionally, this library includes a
decorator to add docstrings to Enum members from a comment at the end of
the line.

---

The package is being requested since the latest flask-limiter version
uses the enum_tools extension for its documentation.

Bug#1055192: RFS: golang-github-apenella-go-ansible

2023-12-16 Thread weepingclown
Hi Maytham,

DH_GOLANG_EXCLUDES_ALL is true by default since DH_COMPAT 12 (according to the
manual at least). I also confirmed that examples/ is not installed in
/usr/share/gocode. Nonetheless, thank you for showing the care :)

Best,
Ananthu

Hi Ananthu,

> Thanks a lot for this and I really appreciate it

Anytime! You'll probably want to also enable DH_GOLANG_EXCLUDES_ALL so that the
examples aren't installed in /usr/share/gocode, as the examples are not meant to
be imported by other programs. (Refer to the man page.)

Kind regards,
Maytham

Bug#1055192: RFS: golang-github-apenella-go-ansible

2023-12-16 Thread weepingclown
Hi Maytham,

Thanks a lot for this and I really appreciate it, especially considering it has
been a while (~6weeks) since I've sent this RFS.

Thank you for DH_GOLANG_EXCLUDES, that was what I was looking for, but couldn't
get any answers from anyone before. This also helped removing the
DH_GOLANG_INSTALL_EXTRA in entirety.

I found your other suggestions just as valid and reasonable, and have applied
all of them.

Thanks a lot for the review!

Now, I'd appreciate if there is someone who could sponsor this in the go team.
That includes uploading the two dependencies of this; apenella-go-common-utils
and sossedoff-vault-go.
Hoping to find a sponsor this time.

Best,
Ananthu
