Bug#1058963: ITP: libioth -- Unified API for the Internet of Threads

2023-12-18 Thread capriott
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Andrea Capriotti
X-Debbugs-Cc: debian-de...@lists.debian.org

* Package name: libioth
  Version : 0.1
  Upstream Contact: VirtualSquare (Renzo Davoli )
* URL : http://www.virtualsquare.org
* License : LGPL2.1+ and GPL-2+
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : Unified API for the Internet of Threads

  libioth main goal is to provide a convenient API
  to interoperate with different network stack implementations.
  Libioth is also an infrastructure where the actual
  implementations can be loaded as plug-ins.
  Libioth's API is minimal: it includes the complete set of
  Berkeley Sockets functions, some functions to add or delete
  a stack and 'msocket', an extended version of 'socket' providing
  one more leading argument to select which stack should
  manage the communication.

Bug#1058962: O: speedcrunch -- High precision calculator

2023-12-18 Thread Felix Krull

Package: wnpp

Severity: normal

For personal reasons I am orphaning the speedcrunch package.

The broken package that caused speedcrunch's removal from testing,
python3-quark-sphinx-theme, is currently broken because of a Sphinx
update. I was also maintaining the upstream of that package and packaged
it as a build dependency for speedcrunch, but won't be maintaining it
any more either. I have proposed to add the relevant bits directly into
the speedcrunch repo so they can be maintained there at least:
https://bitbucket.org/heldercorreia/speedcrunch/pull-requests/125

FWIW I'm sorry to leave speedcrunch broken like that, but evidently not
sorry enough to do something about it at this point.

Description: High precision calculator
 SpeedCrunch is a high precision and high speed calculator.
 .
 It's optimized for keyboard use and has advanced features: use of
functions,
 use of variables, result history, and syntax highlighting. It also
shows the
 result as you type.
 .
 SpeedCrunch has a very simple interface, so you can start to use it very
 quickly.

  Description : Lossless LiDAR compression

LASzip quickly turns bulky LAS files into compact LAZ files without
information loss.

The package is reintroduced by the Science Team, with consent of the GIS team,
the previous maintainers. Among other things, it is needed for the Python
LASzip bindings, which in turn enable the optional LASzip support in LASpy.

* Package name: bankstown
  Version : 1.0.0
  Upstream Contact: https://github.com/chadmed/bankstown/issues
* URL : https://github.com/chadmed/bankstown
* License : MIT
  Programming Lang: Rust
  Description : barebones, fast LV2 bass enhancement plugin

 Description
 ---
 Speakers found in small devices have trouble reproducing bass and sub-bass
 faithfully. This is because they are power and space constrained, and cannot
 move the amount of air required to reproduce such low frequencies at audible
 volumes. Designers of modern devices get around this problem by taking
 advantage of the fact that humans are very easy to fool. We generate harmonics
 of bass and sub-bass frequencies to trick the human brain into thinking there
 is more bass than there really is.
 .
 This package contains a lv2 plugin implementing halfway-decent three-stage
 psychoacoustic bass approximation.

 Team maintenance
 ---
 I've discussed both with Debian rust-team and bananas-team and we've
 concluded that since this package does not yet integrate well with
 existing debcargo-conf tooling, we'll maintain the package under the
 bananas-team umbrella.
 Preliminary packaging is available at:
 https://salsa.debian.org/bananas-team/bankstown

 Naming
 ---
 Upstream name: bankstown
 crates.io name: bankstown-lv2

 My proposition is that we use the upstream name as debian source name
 (bankstown) and then use `lv2-bankstown` binary package name, as
 bankstown is a lv2 plugin and that would fit generic naming conventions
 in Debian about packages fitting into a particular ecosystem.

 For reference, fedora packaging:

* Package name    : licenserecon
  Version : 1.0

* URL : https://salsa.debian.org/PeterB/licenserecon
* License : BSD-2-clause
  Programming Lang: Pascal
  Description : Reconcile debian/copyright licenses against licensecheck
output

Uses licensecheck to determine file licences and,
 if not 'UNKNOWN', checks them against Dep5 debian/copyright.

Is intended as a partial replacement for license-reconcile (removed in 2019).
I use this package for checking debian/copyright in other packages I maintain.
Will need a sponsor.

From the man page;
===

   lrc

DESCRIPTION
   Lrc parses a valid DEP-5 copyright file and notes the licenses of files in the source tree. Licensecheck is then
run, and

   the results compared. Differences between licenses in debian/copyright
and the output of licensecheck are reported.

   It  should  be  run  in the top level of a cleaned Debian source tree, with a valid DEP-5 copyright file. The
source tree
   should be clean, otherwise results will be contaminated by spurious  reports  on  the  build's  generated
files.  It  is

   advisable to run lintian first to ensure correct syntax of
debian/copyright.

   The  results  are indicative only, and not a substitute for manual checking. It is intended to report obvious
errors. The
   design intends to minimise false positives as much as is practical. However, false positives will occur if  the
spelling
   of  the  license  short-string  is not identical between the file and debian/copyright. This is quite likely
with complex

   licensing such as 'and'/'or' constructs and specific exceptions.

   Only files with a copyright header are checked. False negatives may occur  if  licensecheck  cannot  determine
a file's
   license.  Files  named  copyright, copying, readme etc. are not checked as they often specify the licenses of
other files

   rather than their own.

EXIT CODES
   0: No differences found
   1: Failure to run (no debian/copyright etc)
   3: License differences found

SAMPLE OUTPUT
   Sample output invoking lrc.

    SUCCESS:

Hey Nicolas,

Feel free to hijack the ITP if that will unblock you.

ATM I have no time to review the current state of the package you have
created.

I would just recommend saving the package under the Debian Go Team.

Bug#1053428: RFP: k9s -- Kubernetes CLI To Manage Your Clusters In Style!

2023-12-18 Thread Bartosz Fenski
I started working on it today and I submitted initial stuff to Salsa
under https://salsa.debian.org/go-team/packages/k9s/

There's a lot of missing dependencies - mostly k8s related but not only.
Among others:

https://github.com/kubernetes/apimachinery -
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1012720

https://github.com/kubernetes/client-go
https://github.com/kubernetes/metrics
https://github.com/anchore/grype

So I pushed things a bit forward but there's still a lot to do.

yes, the actual packaging of golang-k8s-apimachinery does not seem to make
problems (I am going to push my current today or tomorrow for that can have a
look at it). But there are still unresolved prerequirement, e.g.:

  golang-github-google-gnostic-models (#1053000) and a newer version of
  golang-k8s-kube-openapi-dev

Currently, I am fighting against the latter as version
0.0~git20231113.778a556-1 does not compile (for me).

But my time resources are limited. If you want to help, please don't hesitate
to support or take-over whatever you want. As of today I'd guess, I would need
until mid-January to get all of this done, if all goes well.

(Actually, I just wanted to update the glab package...)

Nicolas

Hi Arthur,

For packaging the newer versions of glab, we need several new golang packages
and one of them is golang-github-google-gnostic-models. For my local tests, I
failed using the default 'dh-make-golang' but had to compose a manually

  Description : third-party, open-source Proton API bridge

 proton-go-api provides the basic building blocks of API calls and error
 handling, such as 429 exponential back-off, but it is pretty much just a
 barebone interface to the Proton API. For example, the encryption and
 decryption of the Proton Drive file are not provided in this library.
 .
 This codebase, Proton API Bridge, bridges the gap, so software like rclone can
 be built on top of this quickly. This codebase handles the intricate tasks
 before and after calling Proton APIs, particularly the complex encryption
 scheme, allowing developers to implement features for other software on top of
 this codebase.
 .
 Currently, only Proton Drive APIs are bridged, as we are aiming to implement a
 backend for rclone.

Dependency of new upstream release (1.65) of rclone.
