* Package name: python-command-runner
Version : 1.6.0
Upstream Contact: Orsiris de Jong
* URL : https://github.com/netinvent/command_runner
* License : BSD-3-clause
Programming Lang: Python 3
Description : a platform-agnostic external command execution library for
python

command_runner's purpose is to run external commands from python, just like
subprocess on which it relies, while solving various problems a developer may
face among:
- Handling of all possible subprocess.popen / subprocess.check_output scenarios
/ python versions in one handy function without encoding / timeout hassle
- Allow stdout/stderr stream output to be redirected to callback functions /
output queues / files so you get to handle output in your application while
  commands are running
- Callback to optional stop check so we can stop execution from outside
  command_runner
- Callback with optional process information so we get to control the process
  from outside command_runner
- Callback once we're finished to ease thread usage
- Optional process priority and io_priority settings
- System agnostic functionality, the developer shouldn't carry the burden of
Windows & Linux differences
- Optional Windows UAC elevation module compatible with CPython, PyInstaller &
Nuitka
- Optional Linux sudo elevation compatible with CPython, PyInstaller & Nuitka

My plan is to maintain this package under the auspices of the Debian Python
Team. I am packaging this module in part because it is a direct dependency of
LibreNMS, though I don't currently have plans to package that.

Sincerely,

Bug#1063673: ITP: llama.cpp -- Inference of Meta's LLaMA model (and others) in pure C/C++

yeah, that was my conclusion from my first experiments as well.

This is a problem though, since one key point of llama.cpp is to make
best use of the current hardware. If we'd target some 15-year-old amd64
lowest common denominator, we'd go against that.

In my first experiments, I've also had problems with ROCm builds on
hosts without a GPU.

I have yet to investigate if/how capabilities can be generally enabled,
and use determined at runtime.

Another issue that stable is clearly the wrong distribution for this.
This is a project that is continuously gaining new features, so we'd
need to stable-updates.

I'll push a first draft soon, though it will definitely not be
upload-ready for the above reasons.

Best,
Christian

Control: retitle -1 ITP: fonts-adobe-sourcesans3 -- set of OpenType fonts that

Control: owner -1 !
Control: tags -1 + ITP

I would like to package these fonts as one of them is used by the Electrum
package, which I maintain. My intention is to join to fonts group and maintain
this package going forward.

It should be noted that in 2020 the upstream author renamed the font from
Source Sans Pro to Source Sans 3.

https://github.com/adobe-fonts/source-sans/issues/192[1]

Based on that, candidate names for the source package are:

fonts-adobe-sourcesans3
fonts-adobe-source-sans3
fonts-adobe-source-sans-3

Does anyone have a strong preference as to which is used?

Bug#1063880: ITP: tmpwatch -- tmpwatch is a utility searches for files not accessed in a specific time and deletes them

2024-02-13 Thread Peter Hyman

Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Peter Hyman

* Package name : tmpwatch
Version : 2.12
* Upstream Contact: Peter Hyman
URL : https://github.com/pete4abw/tmpwatch
* License : GPL
Programming Lang: C
Description : tmpwatch is a utility searches for files not accessed in a
specific time and deletes them

The tmpwatch utility recursively searches through specified directories and
removes files which have not been accessed in a specified period of time.
tmpwatch is normally used to clean up directories which are used for
temporarily holding files (for example, /tmp).

- While Debian removes files in the /tmp directory, other files may have
temporary files that needs to be cleaned periodically. tmpwatch is
ideally used

as a cron-job.
- how do you plan to maintain it?
tmpwatch has not had any activity for over 5 years. Originally written by

However, packaging for Debian has been challenging since the autogen I wrote
fetches a submodule which creates lots of files not in the source package. I
would need a mentor to help me get this off the ground.

Boyuan,

That is indeed a rabbit hole.

Yao Wei,

I would be interested in co-maintaining the AFDKO package with you if you would
like.
Specifically, I would like to address the two bug reports at:

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?repeatmerged=no&src=afdko[1]

As well as looking into the problem you described at:

https://lists.debian.org/debian-fonts/2021/07/msg9.html

If you are amenable to that I can prepare MRs on Salsa and submit them to you.

This sounds very much like tmpreaper:

Description-en: cleans up files in directories based on their age
This package provides a program that can be used to clean out temporary-file
directories. It recursively searches the directory, refusing to chdir()
across symlinks, and removes files that haven't been accessed in a
user-specified amount of time. You can specify a set of files to protect
from deletion with a shell pattern. It will not remove files owned by the
process EUID that have the `w' bit clear, unless you ask it to, much like
`rm -f'. `tmpreaper' will not remove symlinks, sockets, fifos, or special
files unless given a command line option enabling it to.
 .
WARNING: Please do not run `tmpreaper' on `/'. There are no protections
against this written into the program, as that would prevent it from
functioning the way you'd expect it to in a `chroot(8)' environment.
 .
The daily tmpreaper run can be configured through /etc/tmpreaper.conf .

Could you maybe say a bit about the differences?

Cheers,
gregor

2024-02-13 Thread Peter Hyman

They appear to be very similar. The code base is completely different.

I'll review the tmpreaper program closely and close this ITP if there is
functional duplication.

Thank you for pointing this out.

Bug#1055342: RFA: kas -- Setup tool for bitbake based projects

2024-02-13 Thread MOESSBAUER, Felix
Hi,

I would be willing to continue the maintenance of this package,
together with the debian python team. I'm quite familiar with this
component, as I contributed a lot to the upstream project.

Currently I have to maintain this via a sponsor, but once I get
advocated to a DM, I can also maintain it directly.

Best regards,
Felix Moessbauer

We also already have tmpreaper in the archive which basically does the
same thing as tmpwatch.

I fail to parse the short description as a sentence. Maybe:

s/utility searches/utility which searches/
