Bug#962786: ITP: pcpp -- C99 preprocessor written in pure Python

2020-06-13 Thread أحمد المحمودي
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: أحمد المحمودي

* Package name: pcpp

  Upstream Author : Niall Douglas (http://www.nedproductions.biz/) and David
Beazley (http://www.dabeaz.com/)
* URL : http://www.example.org/

  Description : C99 preprocessor written in pure Python

A pure universal Python C (pre-)preprocessor implementation very useful for
pre-preprocessing header only
C++ libraries into single file includes and other such build or packaging stage
malarky.
The implementation can be used as a Python module or as a command line tool
``pcpp`` which
can stand in for a conventional C preprocessor (i.e. it'll accept similar
arguments).

Bug#784013: RFP: apktool -- tool for reverse engineering Android apk files

2015-05-01 Thread أحمد المحمودي
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: apktool
  Version : 2.0.0
  Upstream Author : Ryszard Wiśniewski
* URL : https://ibotpeaches.github.io/Apktool/
* License : Apache 2.0
  Programming Lang: Java
  Description : tool for reverse engineering Android apk files

A tool for reverse engineering 3rd party, closed, binary Android apps.
It can decode resources to nearly original form and rebuild them after
making some modifications; it makes possible to debug smali code step by
step. Also it makes working with an app easier because of project-like
file structure and automation of some repetitive tasks like building
apk, etc.

It is NOT intended for piracy and other non-legal uses. It could be used
for localizing, adding some features or support for custom platforms,
analyzing applications and much more.

Features

* Disassembling resources to nearly original form (including
  resources.arsc, classes.dex, 9.png. and XMLs)
* Rebuilding decoded resources back to binary APK/JAR
* Organizing and handling APKs that depend on framework resources
* Smali Debugging
* Helping with repetitive tasks

Bug#648485: RFP: gnome-shell-frippery -- Frippery GNOME Shell extensions

2011-11-12 Thread أحمد المحمودي
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: gnome-shell-frippery
  Version : 0.3.1
  Upstream Author : R M Yorston
* URL : http://intgat.tigress.co.uk/rmy/extensions/index.html
* License : GPL-2+
  Programming Lang: Javascript (GJS)
  Description : Frippery GNOME Shell extensions

The tarball includes several GNOME Shell extensions:

* Move the clock: Move the clock from the centre of the panel towards
  the right. This isn't a very significant change, but it was the first
  extension I wrote.

* Favourites in panel: Place a launcher for each favourite application
  in the panel. It isn't possible to manage the list from the panel:
  instead you can add, remove or move favourite applications in the dash
  and the panel display will update to match.

* Applications menu in panel: Replace the Activities button in the panel
  with an Applications menu. The menu is implemented using facilities
  supplied by the shell so it doesn't behave exactly like a normal menu.

* Static workspaces: The GNOME 3 shell attempts to maintain just one
  empty workspace. New workspaces are created on demand and when the
  last application in a workspace is closed that workspace is removed.
  This extension disables that behaviour.

* Shut Down menu: Replace the Suspend item in the status menu with Shut
  Down. The dialog that this invokes includes all available shutdown
  options: suspend, hibernate, restart and power off.

* Bottom panel: Add a bottom panel, including a window list, workspace
  switcher and message tray button. Because the workspace switcher is
  arranged horizontally the keybindings for changing workspace have been
  altered to ctrl-alt-left/right. The message tray button shows and
  hides the message tray, as the hot corner is hidden by the panel. If
  no messages are available the button is blank. Right clicking on the
  workspace switcher invokes a dialog to set the number of workspaces.

The extension that I find interesting is the bottom panel extension,
since I found that some old GNOME users are missing it in the GNOME
shell.
Probably not all extensions in this tarball need to be packaged
(especially, that there are other packages that already provide same
functionaly, probably in a better manner)

I've done some commits into PAPT SVN repository [1], I see that you &
Michael Schutte some work in git [2]. Although I prefer git over SVN,
yet I think it's better to have it maintained under PAPT.

I have a question, is this:

python make_constants_pxi.py wimpiggy/lowlevel/constants.txt
wimpiggy/lowlevel/constants.pxi

really necessary ? I know that setup.py mentions it in the comments, yet
the Ubuntu package didn't run that, yet the build is successful and the
package works.

As mentioned in the ITP, the tarball consists of three parts:

* parti: the window manager that is not usable according to upstream
  website. I haven't tried it actually, since my main interest is in the
  xpra tool.
* xpra: a tool to detach/reattach running X programs, think of it as
  'screen' utility but for X. Yet unlike VNC, the applications are
  "rootless". This tool is the reason I am interested in making the
  package available in Debian, it is usable, me & my colleagues use it
  at work. Our use case is that we run some GUI CAD tools at work that
  may take some long time, so we run those through an xpra session, then
  we can check the simulation/synthesis when we get back home (over a
  VPN connection), without getting sluggish response that you get when
  using VNC.
* wimpiggy: a library used by the above tools.

Do you mean renaming the source package ? or just the binary package is
enough

Also I want to ask, how to inject the package in the SVN repository of

Amiri font is a Naskh style, typographically oriented font, mainly for
printing and running text.

Amiri font is a revival of the beautiful typeface pioneered by Bulaq
Press, also known as Amiria Press, hence the name.

The uniqueness of this typeface comes from its superb balance
between the beauty of Naskh calligraphy on the one hand, and the
constraints and requirements of elegant typography on the other. Also,
it is one of the few metal typefaces that were used in typesetting the
Koran (as opposed to the usual handwritten calligraphy), making it a
good source for a typeface to be used in typesetting Koranic verses.

Amiri Font Project aims at the revival of the aesthetics and
traditions of Arabic typesetting (if partially), and adapting it to
the era of digital typesetting, in a publicly available form.

  Yes, this issue was raised by Jakub Wilk (who sponsored the package),

Thanks for the above suggestions.

Yes, the uniqueness is that copy/paste can actually copy the text in
the non-Othmani arabic script (called Imla'i script, that's an arabic
word transliterated, I dunno the proper translation unfortunately). This
is because usually text processors (& fonts) do not support the Othmani
script, hence pasting the verse in a text processor for example would
give un-readable result.

Hello,

  I just tried the fork of kfish, it is actually better than the one
  pieter has done. For example fetching from bzr for a second time
  failed with pieter's version, yet it worked fine with kfish's version.

  Also the online help is better.

  I cannot comment if kfish's fork is better than the other forks
  though, as I haven't tried them.

  Btw, the one kfish done is a bash script that also uses
  bzr-fastimport.

Bug#537268: ITP: verilog-perl -- building point for Verilog support in the Perl language

2009-07-16 Thread أحمد المحمودي
Package: wnpp

Owner: "أحمد المحمودي"

* Package name: verilog-perl
  Version : 3.2.11
  Upstream Author : Wilson Snyder
* URL : http://www.veripool.org
* License : Artistic License 2.0
  Programming Lang: C++, Perl
  Description : building point for Verilog support in the Perl language

The Verilog-Perl library is a building point for Verilog support in the Perl
language. It includes:

* Verilog::Getopt which parses command line options similar to C++
  and VCS.
* Verilog::Language which knows the language keywords and parses
  numbers.
* Verilog::Netlist which builds netlists out of Verilog files. This
* allows easy scripts to determine things such as the hierarchy of
  modules.
* Verilog::Parser invokes callbacks for language tokens.
* Verilog::Preproc preprocesses the language, and allows reading
  post-processed files right from Perl without temporary files.
* vpassert inserts PLIish warnings and assertions for any simulator.
* vppreproc preprocesses the complete Verilog 2001 and SystemVerilog
language.
* vrename renames and cross-references Verilog symbols. Vrename
  creates Verilog cross references and makes it easy to rename
  signal and module names across multiple files. Vrename uses a
  simple and efficient three step process. First, you run vrename to
  create a list of signals in the design. You then edit this list,
  changing as many symbols as you wish. Vrename is then run a second
  time to apply the changes.

On Sun, Jul 12, 2009 at 10:43:18AM -0700, Ryan Niebur wrote:
> hm. I can't find bzr-fast-export. which package does it come from?
bzr-fast-export comes from Ubuntu's bzr-fastimport package.

Ok, I just found out a wierd thing:
Debian got bzr-fastimport 0.8.0~bzr181-1
Ubuntu got bzr-fastimport 0.0.1~bzr112-0ubuntu1

Both got the same maintainer 'Jelmer Vernooij' !

Now it's Ubuntu's bzr-fastimport package that I use, and it's working
fine when I modified your patch by: s/bzr fast-export/bzr-fast-export

I just tried Debian's bzr-fastimport now, and it seems that your
*UNMODIFIED* patch was just the correct thing to make it work !

Btw, I am only testing import from bzr to git, as I want to convert some
bzr repos to git. But I didn't test pushing a change from git back into
bzr, which seems to be the Launchpad bug you mentioned earlier.

I'm talking now with Ubuntu guys to sync bzr-fastimport from Debian.

Bug#497153: Upstream lost interest

2009-07-12 Thread أحمد المحمودي
Hello,

  I found your git-bzr package on mentors. So I used it & I found a bug
  in the user-correct-paths patch you added: bzr fast-export does not
  work, so I replaced that with bzr-fast-export to work correctly.

  Anyways, when I checked the upstream site (at github), I found that
  the upstream mentioned in his last commit that he is no more
  interested in working on git-bzr. That's from the README:

  "NOTE: I really mean what I say here above -- I'm no longer interested
  in this program. Take it as it is, or look at one of the forks on
  github (there are two that have converted the script to bash, if you
  prefer that)."

  You can find the other forks at: http://github.com/pieter/git-bzr/network

 The 'libkal' library provides support for converting dates between various
 calendar systems (currently only julianic, gregorianic, arabic and jewish
 ones) and some more related stuff.
 .
 The basic idea of this library is, that any date in any calendar system can be
 converted to a single number, which express the number of days since some
 fixed date in the past. libkal uses the so-called 'julianic date'(jd), that is
 used in Astronomy (not exactly).
