Bug#696880: RFP: Fontik -- A font configuration GUI

  Description : A font configuration GUI

Fontik (pronounced Fontik or optionally ^%`*&#=@@ ) is basically
intended to tweak and configure some properties of fonts. These settings
are usually set system-wide while installing the fonts. The power of
fontconfig is thus limited when it comes to the user. The user can
definitely override or enhance these settings, but for that, he has to
manually edit the ~/.fonts.conf each and every time. I haven't come
across any GUI tool that performs these tasks with ease. This is an
attempt on it.

At present, this tool can only perform limited tasks compared to the
actual power of fontconfig. This can be used with font collection
managers like Fontmatrix and the most recent one, Font Manager
(http://fontmanager.blogspot.com). The latter has inspired this work as
well.

Currently Fontik can be used to:

* Set hinting method for for individual fonts.
* Add alias (an alternate name for the font which can be picked up by
  applications) for a font.
* Tweak matrix size of font if needed. (Playing around with this is not
  recommended, usually)
* Blacklist fonts if the user doesn't like them or they take precedence
  over other fonts of similar family.

Bug#693007: RFP: topvhost -- a virtual host monitor

2012-11-11 Thread Adrian Fita
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: topvhost
  Version : 0.5
  Upstream Author : gary at issiweb dot com
* URL : http://www.issihosts.com/topvhost/
* License : GPLv3
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : a virtual host monitor

topvhost is a curses-based display of virtual host activity on a web
server. The display is created by monitoring a collection of server log
files to show update time, update count, and selected fields from the
last record of each file in a top-like presentation which can be sorted
by last update time, update count, or domain name. Log file format and
display columns are configured using an extension of the apache
LogFormat syntax. The collection of associations between domain name and
log file is specified either by direct enumeration or a file system
glob() pattern in those cases where the domain name is part of the log
file path. These details are saved in a INI format configuration file in
the user's home directory.

Bug#692512: RFP: tilde -- a text editor for the console/terminal with intuitive interface

2012-11-06 Thread Adrian Fita
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: tilde
  Version : 0.2.0
  Upstream Author : Gertjan Halkes
* URL : http://os.ghalkes.nl/tilde.html
* License : GPLv3
  Programming Lang: C++
  Description : a text editor for the console/terminal with intuitive
interface

Tilde is a text editor for the console/terminal, which aims to be as
intuitive as possible for users who are accustomed to GUI environments
such as Gnome, KDE and Windows. For example, the short-cut to copy the
current selection is Control-C, and to paste the previously copied text
the short-cut Control-V can be used. As another example, the File menu
can be accessed by pressing Meta-F.

The main audience for Tilde is users who normally work in GUI
environments, but sometimes require an editor for a console/terminal
environment. This may be because the computer in question is a server
which does not provide a GUI, or is accessed remotely over SSH. Tilde
allows these users to edit files without having to learn a completely
new interface, such as vi or Emacs do. A result of this choice is that
Tilde will not provide all the fancy features that Vim or Emacs provide,
but only the most used features.

Bug#692511: RFP: horst -- lightweight wireless lan scanner and analyzer

2012-11-06 Thread Adrian Fita
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: horst
  Version : 3.0
  Upstream Author : Bruno Randolf
* URL : http://br1.einfach.org/tech/horst/
* License : GNU Public License (GPL) V2
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : lightweight wireless lan scanner and analyzer

"horst" is a small, lightweight IEEE802.11 wireless LAN analyzer with a
text interface. Its basic function is similar to tcpdump, Wireshark or
Kismet, but it’s much smaller and shows different, aggregated
information which is not easily available from other tools. It is mainly
targeted at debugging wireless LANs with a focus on ad-hoc (IBSS) mode
in larger mesh networks. It can be useful to get a quick overview of
what’s going on on all wireless LAN channels and to identify problems.

Bug#684974: RFP: areca -- Areca Backup - an Open Source personal backup solution

2012-08-15 Thread Adrian Fita
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: areca
  Version : 7.2.10
  Upstream Author : Olivier PETRUCCI

* URL : http://www.areca-backup.org
* License : GPLv2
  Programming Lang: Java
  Description : Areca Backup - an Open Source personal backup solution

Hello. I use Areca for a while for my personal backup needs and I find it very
good. It would be very nice to have Areca as a Debian package.

Quote from the website:

It basically allows you to select a set of files / directories to back-up,
choose where and how (as a simple file copy, as a zip archive, ...) they will
be stored, and configure post-backup actions (like sending backup reports by
email or launching custom shell scripts).

It has been designed to :

  * Be as simple as possible to set up: No complex configuration files to edit
- Your backup configuration (which is stored as an XML file) can be edited with
Areca's graphical user interface.
  * Be as versatile as possible: Areca can use advanced backup modes (like
"delta backup") or simply produce a "basic" copy of your source files as a
standard directory or zip archive (readable by WinZip or other archivers).
  * Allow you to interact with your archives and the files they contain: Track
different versions of a specific file, browse your archives, recover or view
specific files, merge a set of archives, ...
