Moose is great, but has huge dependencies which makes it difficult to use in restricted environments. This module implements the basic goodness of Moose, namely accessors automagic, hook modifiers and inheritance facilities. It is not Moose but the small bunch of features provided are Moose-compatible. The references can also be objects. The contents of each variable is output using the least number of Perl statements as convenient, usually only one. Self-referential structures, closures, and objects are output correctly. The return value can be evaled to get back an identical copy of the original reference structure. In some cases this may require the use of utility subs that Data::Dump::Streamer will optionally export. This module is very similar in concept to the core module Data::Dumper, with the major differences being that this module is designed to output to a stream instead of constructing its output in memory (trading speed for memory), and that the traversal over the data structure is effectively breadth first versus the depth first traversal done by the others. In fact the data structure is scanned twice, first in breadth first mode to perform structural analysis, and then in depth first mode to actually produce the output, but obeying the depth relationships of the first pass. -- System Information: Debian Release: 4.0 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Kernel: Linux 2.6.16-2-vserver-k7 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#187460: What about apache-lingerd ?
Hello there. I would like to introduce the unofficial apache-lingerd package to this list and to invite you to speak about it. I'll first of all describe the lingerd project for explaining what it is designed for, then I'll explain in which cases it is useful and then will I conclude with a short description of my flavor : apache-lingerd. 1 - What is Lingerd ? Instead of rewriting a description, I'll use the official one [1] : Lingerd is a daemon designed to take over the job of properly closing network connections from an http server like Apache. Because of some technical complications in the way TCP/IP and HTTP work, each Apache process currently wastes a lot of time lingering on client connections, after the page has been generated and sent. Lingerd takes over this job, leaving the Apache process immediately free to handle a new connection. As a result, Lingerd makes it possible to serve the same load using considerably fewer Apache processes. This translates into a reduced load on the server. 2 - Why using lingerd ? Lingerd is particularily useful in Apache webservers that generate dynamic pages (e.g in conjunction with mod_perl, mod_php or Java/Jakarta/Tomcat). More importantely, lingerd can only do an effective job if HTTP Keep-Alives are turned off; since keep-alives are useful for images, the recommended lingerd setup is to have an Apache/mod_whatever/lingerd server for the dynamic pages, and a plain Apache (or thttpd or boa) for the images. Note that apache-lingerd is really recommended when hosting PHP sites. With this in mind, it is adviced to have an apache-lingerd server for dynamic pages and a normal apache server for serving static files like images. 3 - How is it packaged in Debian ? As Fabio Massimo Di Nitto adviced me, I've made a new flavor of the current Debian apache source tree instead of starting a new package from scratch. So building apache with my source tree will produce : - apache-common - apache-dbg - apache-lingerd - apache-perl - apache-ssl - apache-utils - apache If user choose to run apache-lingerd, a lingerd process will be first run to hanlde lingers and then, apache-lingerd processes will. Note that the default apache-lingerd httpd.conf file will disabled KeepAlive to allow lingerd to work properly. There is a 500 days old RFP [2] opened for this project, I've made an unofficial package [3] and I am willing to provide help and time for this project to be packaged. My package runs well, I use it for about one month now and it does the job properly. I do think that Debian lacks this package, that's why I've packaged it thanks to the help Fabio gave me. If you think I'm wrong, or if you have a comment or a question about this issue, please reply on the list. Let's talk ! :) Alexis. 1 : http://www.iagora.com/about/software/lingerd/ 2 : http://lists.debian.org/debian-wnpp/2003/04/msg00079.html 3 : http://www.sukria.net/index.php?p=409 -- Alexis Sukrieh [EMAIL PROTECTED] * Another Linux Debian Geek Enthusiast * http://www.sukria.net * http://www.debian.org - Just for code.
Bug#278620: ITP: tecnoballz -- A breaking blocks game ported from Amiga
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: tecnoballz Version : 0.90.6 Upstream Author : TLK Games http://linux.tlk.fr * URL : http://linux.tlk.fr/games/TecnoballZ/ * License : GPL Description : A breaking blocks game ported from Amiga This is a Breakout or Arkanoid like game with a lot of bonus stage. You can buy weapons and bonus between stages. Sometimes you have to defeat a guardian. This game is written in C++ and use the SDL library. The debian package respects the Debian Policy Manual (it's lintian valid). Debian packge can be grabbed from my repo : deb http://www.sukria.net/debian ./ apt-get install tecnoballz It has been tested under unstable and testing with success on several i386 boxes. I really want to maintain this package and am a friend of the upstream author. There should not be too much uploads as the game is really stable and finished. If someone is interested in sponsoring me, feel free to contact me. Bug#275494: backup-manager official webpage
I'm still looking for a sponsor for this package and people seems to be interested in having backup-manager in the official Debian tree : http://www.michael-prokop.at/blog/index.php?p=259 I've set up a web page dedicated to backup-manager for better communication about this project : http://www.sukria.net/backup-manager/ If someone is interested in sponsoring me, feel free to contact me :) See you. Bug#187460: apache-lingerd is packaged.
Hello. After some days of insane debian/rules hacking, I am proud to announce that apache-lingerd is packaged. Fabio adviced me to ask here for discussion with all apache maintainers for inclusion, so guys, let's talk :) You can get my package on my personal repository : deb http://www.sukria.net/debian ./ deb-src http://www.sukria.net/debian ./ Note that there might be some minor bugs in the config script, I didn't have the time to check carefuly the stuff but it's fully functional ! (www.sukria.net runs this apache-lingerd package ;-) I hope we'll manage to release it quickly in order to close the #187460 RFP. I am ready to fix all possible mistakes I made, so feel free to mail me for bugs report. Alexis. PS : for information, my upload bandwidth is about 800 kb/s. -- Alexis Sukrieh [EMAIL PROTECTED] * Another Linux Debian Geek Enthusiast * http://www.sukria.net
Bug#187460: Need some help to package apache-lingerd
I've worked a lot on apache-lingerd the past two days ; here is the result of my work : get this tarball : http://www.sukria.net/tarballs/apache-1.3.31-with-lingerd.tar.gz and run a dpkg-buildpackage inside ... Everything should compile nicely. You'll have every apache-* package (-ssl, --perl, ...) and a new one : apache-lingerd. Despite of the fact that each package compiles nicely, it remains a problem with the lingerd one : - no httpd.conf is installed (I cannot find how the Apache Team handle that file, it seems to be a nice trick to do with apache-lingerd.httpd.conf but I don't see exactly what). - there may be some problems with postinst and preinst scripts too... If someone, who knows how the Debian Apache Team works, can take an eye on my tarball, I would be gracefull. Thanks. PS : note that lingerd and apache-lingerd binaries are working very nice on my box, the last issue is to fix all the debian (pre|post)stuff and make sure evry conffile is installed correctly. -- * Alexis Sukrieh ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) disait : Alexis Sukrieh [EMAIL PROTECTED] * Another Linux Debian Geek Enthusiast * http://www.sukria.net
Bug#187460: Need some help to package apache-lingerd
Hello there. I'm pretty interested in trying to package apache-lingerd, which has been requested for more than 500 days now : http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=187460 Could someone point me to some piece of docs on how the Debian Apache Maintainers team bild their package ? The fact is that lignerd needs the following steps to be packaged : First step : building lingerd : - tuning of config.h file - user creation : 'lingerd' - directory creation for hosting pidfile and unix domain socket (/var/run/lingerd). - compilation of lingerd binary and installation of it. Second step : patching Apache. - add some files to the apache src source tree - patch some apache native files - compile apache Third step : - update the init.d startup script for apache : lingerd must be launched before apache to work properly. I'm sure that the team has a lot of guidelines to build such a package but I cannont find any docs about this. Help will be welcome :) -- Alexis Sukrieh [EMAIL PROTECTED] * Another Linux Debian Geek Enthusiast * http://www.sukria.net

I really suggest you to look at how we build apache. Take as example the fact that from the same source we create binaries for apache, apache-perl and apache-ssl, Yes, I think so, the best way is to start from the main debian-apache source. I will first look deeply inside in order to see what to do for a 'apche-lingerd'. | | Third step : | | - update the init.d startup script for apache : lingerd must be launched | before apache to work properly. if you start from the apache package check debian/pkgtemplates and the script that creates the final scripts.
