Bug#386317: ITP: libtest-unit-perl -- a unit testing framework for Perl

2006-09-06 Thread Andreas Fester
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Andreas Fester [EMAIL PROTECTED]

* Package name: libtest-unit-perl
  Version : 0.25
  Upstream Author : Christian Lemburg [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://www.example.org/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : a unit testing framework for Perl

Test::Unit::* is a sophisticated unit testing framework for Perl
that is derived from the JUnit testing framework for Java by Kent
Beck and Erich Gamma.

While this framework is originally intended to support unit
testing in an object-oriented development paradigm (with support
for inheritance of tests etc.), Test::Unit::Procedural is
intended to provide a simpler interface to the framework that is more
suitable for use in a scripting style environment.

This package was already in Debian but unfortunately has been
removed some time ago due to lack of Maintainer.

(Include the long description here.)

Bug#335408: ITP: colorwrapper -- Colorizer for shell commands output

2005-11-05 Thread Andreas Fester
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Andreas Fester [EMAIL PROTECTED]

* Package name: colorwrapper
  Version : 1.0.14
  Upstream Author : vade79 [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://cwrapper.sourceforge.net/
* License : GPL
  Description : Colorizer for shell commands output

cw is a non-intrusive real-time ANSI color wrapper for common Unix-based
commands. It is designed to simulate the environment of the commands
being executed, so that if a person types 'du', 'df', 'ping', etc. in
their shell it will automatically color the output in real-time
according to a definition file containing the color format desired. It
has support for wildcard match coloring, tokenized coloring,
headers/footers, case scenario coloring and command-line- dependent
definition coloring.

Bug#334246: RFA: xpenguins -- little penguins walk on your windows

2005-10-19 Thread Andreas Fester
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-

Hi,

 Hello,
 I personally like the program, But have major issues with it working right

 know what I am doing. Any suggestions?? Thanks
If you are using KDE, enable Allow programs in desktop window in
Desktop/Behaviour of KDE control center.
KDE puts one large window over the X11 root window, and usually
xpenguins can find this window through the __SWM_VROOT window property;
however, this property seems to be defined only when the option
mentioned above is selected.

I propose to add this to the README of the package; I also wanted
to apply as new maintainer when I saw the RFA, but of course
everyone who already applied before has precedence :-)

A yet better solution would be of course to display a warning
when no background window could be found; For example,
add something like

fprintf(stderr,
  Warning: drawing on X11 root window. If you are using KDE,\n
  and do not see any penguins, enable the option\n
  \Allow programs in desktop window\ in the KDE control panel\n
  in the Desktop/Behaviour section.);

directly before the return root line in function ToonGetRootWindow.
This could even be suppressed when the -q option is passed.
IMHO, this is much better than hunting hidden penguins for
quite some time ;-)

If anyone is interested, I can provide an appropriate
patch...

Thanks  Best Regards,

Andreas

Sure. If you prepare a package for the new upstream version
just released I will be happy to take a look at it.

Great :-) I already started with the package yesterday evening,
and I think I can finish it today.

Thanks,

Andreas

Bug#319461: ITA: lincvs -- graphical CVS frontend

2005-07-27 Thread Andreas Fester

Hi Frank,

I don't really use this program anymore and want to concentrate on other
Debian work, so offering this for adoption.
Since it is non-free (due to some dubios license extensions) I will

As far as I understand the non-XXL-Version (1.4.x) *is* GPLed and
therefore free.
I just saw that the current version 1.4.2 is indeed in non-free (never
thought about this before), but as I remember from some postings on the
mailing list upstream always told everyone that 1.4.x is under the GPL.
This needs to be clarified, of course.

ask for it's removal in a few months if nobody wants it.

Bug#303794: ITA: log4cpp -- A C++ library for flexible logging

2005-07-08 Thread Andreas Fester

Hi,

Fathi Boudra wrote:
 the project restarted, current version is log4cpp-0.3.5rc2 (dated
2005-06-01)

 Only the homepage of the project wasn't updated.
 So what should i do ? prepare an updated package or drop it ?

the primary reason for me to package log4cxx instead of ITA log4cpp
was that log4cpp was not actively developed anymore since three years
or so, so I also suggested to replace it with log4cxx (see
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=303892).

But, if log4cpp is now really active again, I see no reason why
to drop it, instead of having both log4cpp and log4cxx in Debian.
Both of them might have pros and cons, so I suggest to simply keep
them both :-)

Best Regards,

Andreas

Bug#315877: ITP: initng -- next generation init system

2005-06-27 Thread Andreas Fester

Hi,

I read about this a few days ago and also thought about
looking at it.
Do you have a preliminary package ready yet? If you need
someone to test it, I would like to :-)

Regards,

Andreas

Bug#303892: ITP: log4cxx -- A logging library for C++

2005-04-09 Thread Andreas Fester
Package: wnpp

  Upstream Author : Michael Catanzariti [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Edmond Nolan [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://logging.apache.org/site/binindex.html
* License : Apache License Version 2.0
  Description : A logging library for C++

Log4cxx is the C++ port of log4j, a widely used logging library for
Java. Log4cxx attempts to mimic log4j usage as much as the language
will allow and to be compatible with log4j configuration and output formats.

Since log4j is already in Debian its natural to also
include its C++ port. Additionally this could close Bugs #288336 and
#288337 in the long term because log4cpp is orphaned and the upstream
is not maintained anymore. Log4cxx is better maintained, and
a new version is in progress. Log4cxx should therefore replace
log4cpp.
