Bug#995078: RFA: deluge -- bittorrent client written in Python/PyGTK

2021-09-25 Thread Andrew Starr-Bochicchio
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

As neither Cristian nor myself have time to maintain
this package, I am requesting an adopter. I have also
filed an RFA for libtorrent-rasterbar which is an
essential dependency for deluge. Ideally, a new
maintainer would adopt both.

As I was not personally a user of the web front-end or
the daemon, there is a lot of room for improvement to
those parts of this package.

I'd be happy to sponsr uploads for any perspective
maintainers.

Thanks,

asb

Bug#995076: RFA: libtorrent-rasterbar - C++ bittorrent library

2021-09-25 Thread Andrew Starr-Bochicchio
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

As neither Cristian nor myself have the time needed to
maintain this package anymore, I'm opening an RFA.

I am opening RFAs for both deluge and qbittorrent as
well. As these packages are both part of the libtorrent-rasterbar
ecosystem, ideally the adoptor would be someone interested
in maintaining those clients as well.

I'm happy to sponsor uploads for prospective new
maintainers.

Thanks,

asb

package if you will have enough time and attention to work on it.

If you want to be the new maintainer, please see
http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/index.html#howto-o for detailed
instructions how to adopt a package properly.

The package's description is:

The purpose of this software is to capture an image from a USB webcam at
a specified interval, and save it to a JPEG file, no other formats are
 supported.
 .
Right now this software is really a hack, since still image support is
not yet available in the UVC driver. The program continually polls the
UVC driver in MJPEG mode, and at a specified interval writes a JPEG
header and a single frame to file, creating a JPEG image.

Bug#864608: RFP: python-digitalocean -- Python bindings for the DigitalOcean API

2017-06-12 Thread Andrew Starr-Bochicchio
Hi,

As a Debian Developer, DigitalOcean employee, and upstream contributor
to python-digitalocean, I'm pretty well placed to package this. =) I
actually have a packaging branch at:

https://github.com/andrewsomething/python-digitalocean

and it is available in this PPA:

https://launchpad.net/~andrewsomething/+archive/ubuntu/digitalocean

I'd love to know what your use case is for it in Debian. I've held off
on packaging it as APIs can move fairly fast, at least compared to
Debian stable releases. Are you planning on packaging something that
depends on it, or do you just want it available via apt?

Having a quick look at the code of ghp-import it seems to me that I can easily
replace it with a shell two-liner in my projects makefile. I'd much more
welcome an addition to the packages git-extras or git-stuff which could do:

 - prepare a git-tree from a directory with all objects written to the object
 store
 - commit this tree to a branch that is not currently checked out
 - A combined command of the above two.

Both actions must not touch the index.

My main reason for packaging this is that python-pelican uses it in
the github target of the Makefiles it generates. [0] Maybe I should
mention that in the description. I was planning on using an Enhances
field in debian/control.

I'd be happy to review/sponsor gthumb. Here's some comments on your package:

1) Looking at the diff of upstream's configure.ac, there are a few
more changes needed in debian/control:
   - libgtk-3-dev (= 3.2.0) should now be libgtk-3-dev (= 3.4.0)
   - libglib2.0-dev (= 2.28.0) should now be libglib2.0-dev (= 2.34.0)
   - The build-dep on libgnome-keyring-dev looks like it should be
dropped as it's been replace by libsecret-1-dev which you correctly
added.

2) What are all the commented out lines in debian/gthumb-data.install about?

Bug#715182: ITP: fonts-junction -- humanist sans-serif typeface

 What is a humanist font?

I first came across this font awhile in a blog post by Máirín Duffy of
Fedora fame who described a humanist font as:

| Humanist refers to the calligraphic-like way the strokes of letters are ended
| and how the line widths are not one consistent width but vary depending on
| where in the letter they are (unlike Helvetica or Futura, where the
line widths
| are very consistent and don’t vary at all.) Humanist typefaces I
think are called
| ‘humanist’ because they reference / are influenced by how the human hand
| produces lettermarks.

It could be interesting to explain why Yet Another Font. There are
certainly reasons and those are the information needed by people who
have to decide would I want to install this on my system.

I hope to, just trying to figure out the balance between the kind of
promotional praising that might be used by an upstream author and the
more restrained descriptions we tend to use for Debian packages. I
find font descriptions even more difficult than most packages, as it
is so easy to drift a bit too far into art criticism. How does the
following sound to you?

| Junction, the first open-source type project by The League of Moveable Type,
| is a humanist sans-serif font. Designed by Caroline Hadilaksono, it has hand
| drawn and human qualities while retaining the clarity and efficiencies of a
| sans-serif typeface.
| .
| It currently only supports basic Latin characters.

Slightly modified from Fedora's description which reads:

| Designed by Caroline Hadilaksono, inspired by her favorite humanist
| sans serif typefaces. It has the hand drawn and human qualities of a
| serif, and still retains the clarity and efficiencies of a sans serif
| typeface. It combines the best of both worlds.

Thanks for the feedback!

Bug#700034: ssh-import-id in Debian

Hi Dustin,

I keep finding myself on a Debian system's reaching for ssh-import-id,
and then remembering that it's not actually available on Debian. I
finally decided to take matters into my own hands. There was already
an open request for package bug for it, so I changed it to an intent
to package bug and assigned myself.

On looking at the upstream bzr repo, I noticed that you're work
flow/release practices seem tied to the Ubuntu packaging. It seems a
little silly to duplicate efforts on the packaging, so I just wanted
to check in with you first. Would you be interested in maintaining it

there any progress on this? Should I go ahead and close this bug, or
are you already preparing an upload?

I notice now that you also intent to adopt bzr-search and bzr-upload.
You should consider joining the pkg-bazaar-maint team.

2012-06-29 Thread Andrew Starr-Bochicchio
Package: sponsorship-requests
Severity: normal

Hi mentors,

I decided to adopt the recently orphaned package uvccapture, and I'm
looking for a sponsor. This upload is mainly house keeping: taking
over maintainer-ship, moving to dh, DEP-5, ect... Here's the full
changelog:

uvccapture (0.5-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * Adopt package, adding myself as maintainer (Closes: #678860).
  * debian/patches/fix_videodev_include_FTBFS.patch: Move changes
to upstream source to a proper patch system.
  * Move to a simplified dh style rules file and debhelper compat
version 9, bumping the debhelper build dependency to = 9.
  * Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.3.1
  * Don't install TODO file, there's nothing very interesting there.
  * debian/copyright: Use machine readable copyright-format 1.0.
  * Create a collab-maint git repo on Alioth and add Vcs fields.

I've turned out not to have use for bzr-loom. As I don't

uses it. Though it does have a low popcon (Debian: 66,

CiviCRM is a Contact and Relationship Manager designed specifically to

    .
Many optional components provide additiona integrated functionality:
    * Case management for clients and constituents.
    * Online fundraising and donor management.
    * Online event registration and participant tracking.
    * Online signup and membership management.
    * Personalized email campaigns and newsletters.
    * Report generation and template management.

Hi Ben,

It's great to see that someone is working on getting CiviCRM into
Debian. I wanted to let you know that there was some previous work on
this a while back that you might be able to leverage. Daniel Holbach
and I put some effort into this as part of the Ubuntu NGO team, but
this has stalled largely due to the number of bundled PHP code copies.
There is a wiki page that we used to track this work [0]. There you
can find links to debian packaging branches for quite a few of the
bundled code copies as well as a link to a PPA with binary and source
packages. We forwarded our work to pkg-php-maint at the time. Some of
these things have found there way into Debian since. There is also a
branch for a civicrm package at lp:~ubuntu-ngo/civicrm/ubuntu This
package was functional, but never really ready for prime-time.

Please let me know if there is any way I can help.

I'm sorry to inform you that's not the case. This bug report is a Request
For Package; it's a place to coordinate requests for the work and any
possible future people who might step forward to do the work.

To my knowledge there's no work being done on this for Debian yet, and I'm
not suitable to package a complex PHP application :-)

I guess I misread the title out of hopefulness. =) Still, this is good
information to have in the bug report either way.

Uploaded to mentors: dget

You could also grab it from the new collab-maint repo: bzr branch
http://bzr.debian.org/bzr/collab-maint/moodbar/unstable/

Here's the changelog entry:

moodbar (0.1.2-3) unstable; urgency=low

  * Adopt package, adding myself as maintainer (Closes: #614212).
  * debian/control:
   - Add Vcs fields pointing to new collab-maint bzr repo.
   - Change build-dep on fftw3-dev to libfftw3-dev. (Closes: #494938)
   - Drop Recommends on Amarok so it is not pulled in when
using the moodbar plugin for Gtk+ music player Exaile.
   - Drop Recommends on gstreamer0.10-plugins-really-bad
 as it no longer exists.
   - Add homepage field.
   - Wrap Depends/Build-Depends.
   - Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.2
  * Drop unneeded file debian/dirs.
  * debian/copyright: Convert to Dep 5 format.
  * Convert to a minimal dh 7 style rules file.
  * Drop debian/patches/01_config_status. Use dh_autotools-dev
in debian/rules instead of manually copying config.{guess,sub}
  * Drop debian/moodbar.man.xml in favor simply maintaining
debian/moodbar.1 directly. Allows for dropping build
dependencies on xsltproc and docbook-xsl.
  * Switch to dpkg-source 3.0 (quilt) format and drop dpatch.
  * debian/docs: Don't install TODO or NEWS. Neither are
particularly useful.
  * Remove *.la files in the install target (Closes: #622468).

A review/sponsorship would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Bug#609278: [Pkg-ayatana-devel] Bug#609278: progress on Unity?

Has there been any progress on this ITP?

Not that I know. You're welcome to help, Adnan is doing lots of other
stuff already and pkg-ayatana is largely understaffed in general.

Thank you Raphael for this very thoughtful observation, as it is
 absolutely true.

I kind of paused this whole process at the moment, was even thinking
of adding RFH tag to this ITP if that's even possible. Implementation
of Unity into Debian requires immense amount of work to be done, and
I'm not even sure it can be done by one person. Before I paused this
process, huge deal of packages were missing in Debian, even in case
they were present in Debian they required patching. Of course, these
packages could be repackaged directly from Ubuntu as they are already
patched and working nicely in Ubuntu.

Before resuming this process I believe we need to figure out which way
to go. I assume it's patching current Debian packages. As Raphael
already said, I'm doing bunch of other stuff, so help would be highly
appreciated. If I could get extra pair of hands and where we would
divide duties among ourselves I believe this whole process could be
 finished relatively fast.

We should probably have a larger discussion on pkg-ayatana-devel about
goals/plans for the group in Wheezy, but a first step that would be
useful would be to make sure http://wiki.debian.org/Ayatana/Packages
is up-to-date. Currently it only has the packages which integrate into
GNOME 2.X sessions, not all of the stuff required for Unity. We could
probably also use a page that tracks/examines what patches to
non-Ayatana packages that Ubuntu is carrying in order to build Unity.

Also, it should be noted that Unity is currently implemented as a
plugin to the Compiz 0.9.x branch. Which is only in experimental, so
uploads need to be targeted there.

I still think that there are people who would like to see this in
Debian. I created a packaging branch here:

https://code.edge.launchpad.net/~andrewsomething/sakura/debian

I still need to write a man page, but besides that it is ready to go.
Feel free to use anything I've done. Also, as I said above I'd be
willing to take this if you are no longer interested.
