* Package name: rpcsvc-proto
  Version : 1.4.2
  Upstream Author : Thorsten Kukuk
* URL : https://github.com/thkukuk/rpcsvc-proto
* License : BSD-3-clause
  Programming Lang: C
Description : RPC protocol compiler and definitions

rpcgen is a tool that generates C code to implement an RPC protocol. The input
to rpcgen is a language similar to C known as RPC Language (Remote Procedure
Call Language).

This package also includes several rpcsvc header files and RPC protocol
definitions from SunRPC sources that were previously shipped by glibc.

The glibc SunRPC implementation has been removed in glibc version 2.32.
It is replaced by rpcsvc-proto and libtirpc, which also brings new
features (IPv6, Kerberos support, etc.). This package will be maintained
within the glibc team.

This package provides a Name Service Switch that allows your NIS+ server
act as a name service. This means providing user account information,
group id's, host information, aliases, netgroups, and basically anything
else that you would normally get from /etc flat files.

This module was formerly part of glibc, but is now standalone to be able
to link against TI-RPC for IPv6 support.

glibc 2.32 removed support for NIS+, and with it the libnss_nisplus.so.2

glibc, but is now standalone to be able to link against TI-RPC for IPv6
support.

glibc 2.32 removed support for linking against the libnsl.so.1 library,

Obviously this package hasn't found a new maintainer, I put the bug

d2to1 (the 'd' is for 'distutils') allows using distutils2-like setup.cfg
 files for a package's metadata with a distribute/setuptools setup.py script.
It works by providing a distutils2-formatted setup.cfg file containing all

 arguments from the setup.cfg.

Yes, I am fine with that. You may also want to contact Arthur Loiret, as
he has adopted the other *m68hc1x packages.

If you have the corresponding hardware, it's even better.

As a Debian Developer, I have to rebuild the package from source, so I
don't need the binary version. Anyway gputils is the kind of package
that is quite fast to rebuild.

Nice, that I finally found an adopter, this package is yours. This
package is not really difficult to maintain, given that upstream is
doing a really good job.

I am ready to sponsor your uploads for this package. Alternatively you
can also join the "Debian Electronics Team" [1], and find uploaders
there.

What are the names of the binary packages? Note we already have packages
called libcam0 and libcam-dev in the GNU/kFreeBSD port. They are used

I am ok to sponsor this package. Please find my comments below:

- In debian/copyright, you should add the copyright entries from
src/meshlab/shaders to the Copyright: section at the top of the file.
- The clean target in debian/rules is a bit too complex. You can call
"make distclean" instead of "make clean", in order to replace all the
  find calls.
- The section should probably be "graphics" to match with the menu
  entry.
- The more recent changelog entry should close the bug#426581. For that,
please add a "Upload to unstable" entry.

Please tell me when those minor problems are resolved, I'll upload the
package.

Cheers,
Aurelien

Ok, I have just filled a form on alioth.

Well I know that's the rt2x00 is still in development, and that it does
not work with some cards. That's why we still keep the rt2400, rt2500
and rt2570 packages. On the other side it works on some other cards and
is the only way to get those cards working. The rt2x00 package also
brings AP mode on some cards.

Cheers,
Aurelien

I think the best way to go now that we are three persons is to put the

Very interesting. It may be a good idea to add that you need a CPU with
VT capabilities in the description. Also maybe "based on QEMU" could be
added.

Well fichier in French means 'file', so this name does not really mean
anything.

Note that med-fichier is the name of the source package, the binaries
are named libmed*, except med-fichier-utils and med-fichier-doc. I can
rename those one to libmed-utils and libmed-doc, but I don't think I
will change the name of the source package. The users don't see it, they
see the name of the binaries.

Note that one Cedric Briner was working on this:

http://lists.debian.org/debian-mentors/2005/10/msg00061.html

Well these are two different library. pyfits is a library to access FITS
files written in Python, where as pcfitsio uses cfitsio to access FITS
files.

I think the author was somewhat unresponsive about some unclarity
with the license.

Concerning PyFITS, the license is really clear.

While packaging INDI, I have noticed that KStars include a whole copy of
this library, therefore I think there is no need to add a new package.
However, I only need the INDI part (ie about 500kB) and not KStars and
the libraries it need (ie about 130MB).

I am therefore asking to put the INDI part in a separate package and
add a dependency on it in kstars. I have attached a patch to do that.

Thanks,
Aurelien

Bug#206691: Sponsoring python-matplotlib

2005-09-15 Thread Aurelien Jarno

Alexandre Fayolle a écrit :

Hi,

Hi!

I need to get matplotlib in Debian for some application at work, and I'm
willing to sponsor one of the packages announced on the bugreport, as
I'd hate to duplicate some work. Are there any opinions about which
version is more suitable for upload? I've been using Vittorio's package
for some time and it works fine.

Well I think the Vittorio's package is the most suitable to upload, at
least that was my conclusion last time I checked. However there is some
problems to solve:
- I am not able to build the package on two of my computers, I am not
sure if it is a problem of the package or a problem on my side.
- The package needs an internet connection to be build (actually to
download the documentation), this violate the policy.
- The package does not include the sources of the documentation (a .pdf
file), so this it could only go to non-free.

This ITP has been running for far too long with no upload.

I agree. I think a package could be uploaded very soon, if the build
problem is solved. About the documentation, I suggest to simply remove
it until a solution is found.

Bye,
Aurelien

What's the status of this ITP? I have a card with a RT2500 chip and so I
would like to see such a package.

If you don't have time, I could make and upload a package in the next
few days.

As far as I know, there is now progress, ie the package has not been
uploaded to Debian. It seems that Vittorio is waiting for Jack Moffit
(his sponsor) to get the package reviewed. Vittorio, any progress on
that point? Have you succeed in contacting Jack?

Bug#283090: RFA: kernel-patch-2.4-preempt -- Reduces the latency of the Linux kernel

2004-11-26 Thread Aurelien Jarno
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the kernel-patch-2.4-preempt package. I don't
use 2.4 kernels anymore so I don't use it.

Please note that this package has currently one bug concerning problem
when used with PCMCIA cards. As I don't have such hardware, I can't
reproduce the problem and a search on the web doesn't give me a
solution.

Please also note that the patch is not really maintained anymore by
Robert Love, but new version of this patch can be obtained from the

The package description is:
This patch enables a preemptible kernel. It adds a far greater degree of
real-time responsiveness to the standard Linux kernel, by reducing
interrupt latencies while kernel functions are executing.

It can be applied to the following Linux kernel sources: 2.4.24, 2.4.25,

Bug#283084: RFA: acx100 -- ACX100/ACX111 wireless network drivers source

2004-11-26 Thread Aurelien Jarno
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the acx100 package. As I don't have the
hardware anymore, I don't use it, and thus I can't test it and I can't
try to reproduce the reported bugs (currently none).

Please note that this package is in contrib (though it is licensed under
GPL), as a non-free firmware is need to make the card working.

The package description is:
This package provides the source code of the Linux drivers for wireless
network cards using TI ACX100/ACX111 chips. This includes DWL-[G]520+
 PCI, DWL-[G]650+ CardBus, GL-2422MP mini-PCI, DWL-120+ USB, etc. See
http://acx100.sourceforge.net/ for information about your wireless
 device.
 .
In order to compile the kernel modules you need the kernel sources (or
the kernel-headers for the kernel-image packages from Debian). For
 compile instructions look into usr/share/doc/acx100-source/README.Debian
or simply use the module-assistant utility.
 .
Please also note that the ACX100/111 chips need a firmware to be
operational. You can get this firmware from the Microsoft Windows
 driver.

the kernel-headers for the kernel-image packages from Debian). For
compile instructions look into usr/share/doc/acx100-source/README.Debian
or simply use the module-assistant utility.

In that case, you need to add ca:CA in /var/lib/mozilla-firefox/locales.d/

The autolocale support first try to match the both the language and the
region name, and if it fails try to match the language only.

So, in your case it should works.

FYI, since version 0.8-4 the Debian version of mozilla-firefox has an
automatic locale selection (stolen from mozilla-thunderbird). It would
be a good idea that your package support that.

You just have to create a file in /var/lib/mozilla-firefox/locales.d/
containing the text:
ca:ES

I agree it will be more clean than packaging myspell-fr from the zip.

Nicolas, if you agree to create myspell dictionary from ifrench or
ifrench-gut, could you please make your package available (on
people.d.o for example) at the same time as you upload it? It
sometimes takes a lot of time for a package to be accepted by the

Bug#198682: ITP: kernel-patch-2.4-low-latency -- Reduces the latency of the Linux kernel

2003-06-24 Thread Aurelien Jarno
Package: wnpp
Version: unavailable; reported 2003-06-25
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: kernel-patch-2.4-low-latency
  Upstream Author : Andrew Morton <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://www.zip.com.au/~akpm/linux/schedlat.html
* License : GPL
Description : Reduces the latency of the Linux kernel

This patch adds a far greater degree of real-time responsiveness to the
standard Linux kernel, by finding "hot spots" in the scheduling code and
trying to reduce their impact. It can get latencies down to 1 to 4 ms in
 most situations.

It can be applied to the following Linux kernel sources:
 2.4.13, 2.4.14, 2.4.15, 2.4.16, 2.4.17, 2.4.18, 2.4.19, 2.4.20 and 2.4.21.

Bug#192681: O: libparagui1.0 -- Standard themes for the widget set library

2003-05-11 Thread Aurelien Jarno
Information for a possible new maintainer:
--

I have uploaded a new version of this package, which fixes all the bugs,
but one:
#148582: libparagui1.0: name of the source package should be the same as the
upstream one

I didn't fixed it, as I don't want to have to deal with overrides when
uploading the package.

You should also consider to merge paragui-themes with libparagui1.0 as
libparagui1.0 depends on the former package, which is very small. There
is also the Standards-Version to check and bump to the latest version
of the policy. Finally, the section of the packages should be changed as
I get this warning after uploading the package:

libparagui1.0_1.0.2-1_i386.deb: package says section is devel, override says
libs.
libparagui1.0-dev_1.0.2-1_i386.deb: package says section is devel, override
says libdevel.
paragui-themes_1.0.2-1_i386.deb: package says section is devel, override says
misc.

Except these minor things, the package should be in good shape. In any
case, please wait the package gets into testing before uploading a new
one: it is holding a lot of packages using SDL out of testing.

There are very nice fonts on this website, I haven't checked all of
them, but it seems they are all GPL. In this case, to avoid aing a
lot of packages in the Debian archive, I think it is more appropriate
to create only one package, named for example ttf-cheapskatefonts.

I will work on that this week-end.

I have made a small poll on the SDCC mailing list, there is some people
interested, but not a lot, so I think it is not necessary to include it
in the Debian archive. I will make it, but it will only be available on
my private website. It will save some place in the Package.gz !

I have just looked quickly, this mechanism looks nice. However, I don't
known how will works fortune with both fortunes-fr and fortunes-de
installed but I admit, I just looked quickly. I will look more precisely
and implement that this weekend.

I have seen your messages in the BTS. I also think the localisation has
to be supported natively by fortune, but I think if nobody provides a
patch, it will never changes. I doesn't have enough time now, but maybe
in the future...
