Description : provides infrastructure for system administration

sysadm-base aka Rhino

Rhino is an infrastructure for building applications that configure,
manage, and monitor hardware and software. Rhino provides a common,
consistent, task-based, internationalized graphical user interface
(GUI), with built-in command-line interfaces (CLIs) that system
administrators can use to write scripts. Rhino applications consist of
two parts:

- Client-side GUI in Java. The GUI runs on any platform that has a Java
virtual machine, and it doesn't run as root or do setuid root. It can
enable the user to perform a single task; it can provide an organized
collection of tasks (with a built-in search mechanism); and it can
include GUIs for monitoring the system.

- Server-side daemon and command-line interfaces. These can be written in
C++ so Java doesn't have to run on the server being administered.

Rhino is the base of SGI's high availibilty solution "failsafe".

Rhino is the name of mozilla's java-script engine and the rpm's sgi is
providing are called
sysadm-base-*. I don't really care about the name, since I just need the
package, but would
prefere "rhino", too. The stuff is (nearly) ready and its no problem to change
the name. Anyone?

Hi.

I saw your mail in wnpp concerning intermezzo. As far as I know, I've some
hopefully working

included.

Can't package myself, since I'm stuck in the nm since january for some reason.

No. Either they should be excluded or diverted by postinst. The packages
are not meant to be production stuff, just as a base for someone who
wants to start through doing real packaging ;-) They are in a rough shape -
I know.

There's another problem: the apache modules directory is not set
correctly at compile time. If there's some more feedback, I'm going
to fix all these issues at the weekend and upload an updated version.

I'll have a closer look in how to handle this. Hints are welcome, since
I'm currently short on time and no debian kernel maintainer.

So do I. In fact there is no documentation on all this intermezzo stuff. For
some
binaries I don't know what they do, or what their options mean. But I got it
running somehow - not ready for production yet - I guess.

So long,

Description : Email autoresponder based on LDAP

Gnu Neat Auto Reply With LDAP

Gnarwl is an email autoresponder. Unlike the original vacation(1)
program, gnarwl is based on LDAP. Traditionally you had to give every
user, who wanted to use autoreply facilities full fledged system
accounts (trusting them to set their forwarding up properly, cursing
when they didn't). With gnarwl this is history. User information is now
stored in LDAP. Thats right, no more messing around with system accounts
or homedirs for users who just want their email working, but don't care
to fuss around with shell commands.

Ulog enables you to find currently opened X sessions. It is the X
equivalent of commands such as who or last. A ulogd daemon records
the start and the end of X sessions. Then it is possible to know
which users are currently logged in, according to several search
criteria. New logins/logouts can also be notified instantaneously
by the server in real-time mode.

Mainly this program is ideal for real big enviroments with hundreds
of X users, several terminal servers / workstations. The administrator
can easily track down the user to a machine in order to support them,
make statistics etc.

Bug#155401: ITP: mkntpwd -- what is the current state?

I currently need a tool like mkntpwd for a webinterface I'd like to upload

me like the ITP has stalled, so I'm willing to do this myself by doing a 1:1

Anyone to stop me? I currently can't check if mkntpwd is built by samba3 debs.

Bug#241405: ITP: nsca -- Nagios service check acceptor - a nagios addon

* URL : http://www.nagios.org/

Description : Nagios service check acceptor - a nagios addon

This program is designed to accept passive service check results from
clients that use the send_nsca utility (also included in this package)
and pass them along to the Nagios process by using the external command
interface. The program can either be run as a standalone daemon or as a
service under inetd. If you have libmcrypt installed on your systems,
you can choose from multiple crypto algorithms (DES, 3DES, CAST, xTEA,
Twofish, LOKI97, RJINDAEL, SERPENT, GOST, SAFER/SAFER+, etc.) for
encrypting the traffic between the client and the server. Encryption
is important in this addon, as it prevents unauthorized users from
sending bogus check results to Nagios.

It is downloadable from http://www.nagios.org/download/extras.php.
