Bug#492805: RFP: ditz -- a distributed issue tracker

2008-07-29 Thread Christian Garbs
Hi there,

I've already packaged ditz 0.4 for Debian.

As I'm only using Etch, the package is(?) only Standards-Version 3.7.2
compliant and I don't know if it works out on the box on unstable or
testing.

It's available either via apt-get[¹] or by direct download links[²].

Feel free to use this as a starting point for an unstable package.

Regards,
Christian

Bug#180507: ITP: v2strip -- Removes ID3v2 tags from MP3 files

2003-02-11 Thread Christian Garbs [Master Mitch]

 Er. Both

   /usr/bin/id3convert -2 --strip (libid3-dev)
 and

   /usr/bin/id3v2 --delete-v2 (id3v2)

 will do this; why another?

D'oh, didn't think about that one, just started packaging it because
it was so nice and small :-)

But let me see...

Package: libid3-dev
Installed-Size: 468
Depends: libid3-3.7-13 (= 3.7.13-4.1), zlib1g-dev

Package: id3v2
Installed-Size: 100
Depends: libc6 (= 2.3.1-1), libgcc1 (= 1:3.2-1), libid3-3.8.2,
 libstdc++5 (= 1:3.2-1), zlib1g (= 1:1.1.4)

Package: v2strip
Installed-Size: 68
Depends: libc6 (= 2.3.1-1)

v2strip is definitely small and handy compared to the other
solutions (just think about all the libs you'd have to install
otherwise). Thinking of one tool for one purpose, this might
sometimes be better than the other all-purpose packages.

Is this a valid reason for a new package?

Also, id3v2 is designed to not interfere with applications that
don't support them. Why not file bugs against the programs that are
 having trouble with them?

You're right. The package description was taken directly from the
homepage of v2strip. I think the reason backward compatibility
should be changed to something like compared to other packages, this
one is very small and does not depend on other libraries, as it is
_only_ able to remove ID3v2 tags should be pointed out.

Regards,
Christian

  License : GPL
Description : A utility to filter the daily newsletter from freshmeat.net

whatsnewfm is a utility to filter the daily newsletter from
freshmeat.net

The main purpose is to cut the huge newsletter to a smaller size by
only showing items that you didn't see before.

The items already seen will be stored in a database. After some time,
the items expire and will be shown again the next time they are
included in a newsletter.

If you find an item that you consider particularly useful, you can add
it to a hot list. Items in the hot list are checked for updates so
that you don't miss anything about your favourite programs.

Debian packages are available here (it's already finished):
http://home.t-online.de/home/dietmar.garbs/download/whatsnewfm/0.6.0/

I'm going to look for a sponsor on -mentors.

ASCII (Romaji) on the fly. The conversion is done using the KAKASI
library.

The debian packages are already finished and available at the given
