Whoosh is a fast, pure-Python indexing and search library. Programmers
can use it to easily add search functionality to their applications and
websites. As Whoosh is pure Python, you don't have to compile or
install a binary support library and/or make Python work with a JVM, yet
indexing and searching is still very fast. Whoosh is designed to be
modular, so every part can be extended or replaced to meet your needs
exactly.

Bug#516183: Problem With Mootools

2009-03-08 Thread Daniel Watkins
django-cms uses the Mootools JavaScript library[0] for a lot of its
hierarchical display stuff within the admin interface. As noted at the
ITP for mootools-core[1], there are problems with getting Mootools into
Debian.

As such, I may not be able to close this ITP for a while. In case I
miss the fact that this problem has been cleared, there's a bzr branch

Bug#493683: ITP: libmarkdown-php -- a port to PHP of the Markdown program

2008-08-04 Thread Daniel Watkins
Package: wnpp

* Package name: libmarkdown-php
  Version : 1.0.1m
Upstream Author : Michel Fortin [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://michelf.com/projects/php-markdown/
* License : BSD
  Programming Lang: PHP
Description : a port to PHP of the Markdown program

“Markdown” is two things: a plain text markup syntax, and a software
tool that converts the plain text markup to HTML for publishing on the
web.

The Markdown syntax allows you to write text naturally and format it
without using HTML tags. More importantly: in Markdown format, your text
stays enjoyable to read for a human being, and this is true enough that
it makes a Markdown document publishable as-is, as plain text. If you
are using text-formatted email, you already know some part of the
syntax.

PHP Markdown can work as a plug-in for WordPress and bBlog, as a
modifier for the Smarty templating engine, or as a remplacement for
textile formatting in any software that support textile.

please check Developers Reference §6.2.2 on how to write a synopsis. I
guess that “Python library to interact with Git repositories” would be
nicer. Unsure “Git” deserves a ‘G’.
The Git website[0] seems to capitalise 'Git', as does the long
description for the git-core package[1], so I've left it capitalised
(though I agree it does seem unnatural).

GitPython provides object model access to your git repository. Once
you have created a repository object, you can traverse it to find
  parent commit(s), trees, blobs, etc.

I thought addressing the user directly (through “you”) was frown upon,
but I can't find any reference right now. I think you'd be better off
using something a bit more neutral, like “GitPython provides object
model to access git repositories. Once a repository object created, it
can be traversed to find parents commits, trees, blobs, etc.”.
I agree, and have changed the long description to fall more in line with
§6.2.3 of the Developers Reference.

GitPython is a port of the grit library in Ruby created by Tom
  Preston-Werner and Chris Wanstrath.

I'm not sure it's worth mentioning the authors in the long description
either. See §6.2.3 of the same document for what matters there.
Removed.

I have uploaded a package for python-git, incorporating these changes to
'debian/control', to mentors.debian.net[2].

Okay. Get back to me when you're ready.
The summer job has cooled off a little, so I probably have some time to
devote to this. Could you walk me through the procedure to adopt the
package?

I've made a package available in my personal webspace[0]. For
reference, I've attached the interdiff between
freeguide_0.10.6-1.diff.gz and freeguide_0.10.7-1.diff.gz.

kthxbye

Hi,
This looks like an app I'm interested in using, as well as a fairly
easy package to maintain. I'm in the UK and, as such, have a free
source of TV listings.

As a result of all the above, I'd like to take over maintaining this
package. :)

Cheers,
Dan
