I guess that “Python library to interact with Git repositories” would be nicer. Unsure “Git” deserves a ‘G’. The Git website[0] seems to capitalise 'Git', as does the long description for the git-core package[1], so I've left it capitalised (though I agree it does seem unnatural). GitPython provides object model access to your git repository. Once you have created a repository object, you can traverse it to find parent commit(s), trees, blobs, etc. I thought addressing the user directly (through “you”) was frown upon, but I can't find any reference right now. I think you'd be better off using something a bit more neutral, like “GitPython provides object model to access git repositories. Once a repository object created, it can be traversed to find parents commits, trees, blobs, etc.”. I agree, and have changed the long description to fall more in line with §6.2.3 of the Developers Reference. GitPython is a port of the grit library in Ruby created by Tom Preston-Werner and Chris Wanstrath. I'm not sure it's worth mentioning the authors in the long description either.
