Bug#453434: ITP: pgloader -- loads flat data files into PostgreSQL

2007-11-29 Thread Dimitri Fontaine
Hi,

Sorry about bad filled report, it was my first attempt to use reportbug (after
a failure of M-x debian-bug-intend-to-package). In fact I'm the main
developer of the tool (pgloader), made the packaging and already am in touch
with a debian developper for sponsorship!

First to enter debian will be 2.2.5~dev-1, or 2.2.5 if ready by the time I get
the packaging completely right :)

rebortbug screens.

The URL where it is available to download is the following:

  http://pgfoundry.org/projects/pgloader/

Fair enough, will shorten the long description entry from debian/control.

Thanks for reviewing this ITP,

* URL : http://www.example.org/
* License : (GPL, LGPL, BSD, MIT/X, etc.)
  Programming Lang: (C, C++, C#, Perl, Python, etc.)
  Description : loads flat data files into PostgreSQL

 pgloader imports data from a flat file and insert it into a database
 table. It uses a flat file per database table, and you can configure as
 many Sections as you want, each one associating a table name and a data
 file.
 .
 Data are parsed and rewritten, then given to PostgreSQL COPY command.
 Parsing is necessary for dealing with end of lines and eventual trailing
 separator characters, and for column reordering: your flat data file may
 not have the same column order as the databse table has.

Bug#211544: RFP: yaws -- Yet Another Web Server

2003-09-18 Thread Dimitri Fontaine
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: yaws
  Version : 1.30
  Upstream Author : Claes Wikstrom <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL or Web page : http://yaws.hyber.org
* License : EPL
  Description : Yet Another Web Server

Yaws is a HTTP high perfomance 1.1 webserver.

Yaws is entirely written in Erlang, futhermore it is a multithreaded
webserver where one Erlang light weight process is used to handle each
client.

Yaws has excellent capabilies to generate dynamic content. Erlang code
can be embedded into the HTML code in manner similar to php. As matter
of fact, the ad-hockery of php was one of major reasons I started the
Yaws project.

Furthermore, Yaws has excellent performance and is able to ship
several thousands of dynamically generated pages per second.

Bug#207495: ITP: smarty -- Template engine for PHP

On Wed, Aug 27, 2003 at 09:49:37PM +0200, Pierre Machard wrote:
> Hi dim,

Here is what I copied from the smarty web site to put on the control
file :

 Smarty is a template engine for PHP. More specifically, it
 facilitates a manageable way to separate application logic and
 content from its presentation.
 .
 This is best described in a situation where the
 application programmer and the template designer play different
 roles,
 or in most cases are not the same person. For example, let's say you
 are creating a web page that is displaying a newspaper article. The
 article headline, tagline, author and body are content elements, they
 contain no information about how they will be presented. They are
 passed into Smarty by the application, then the template designer
 edits the templates and uses a combination of HTML tags and template
 tags to format the presentation of these elements (HTML tables,
 background colors, font sizes, style sheets, etc.) One day the
 programmer needs to change the way the article content is retrieved
 (a change in application logic.) This change does not affect the
 template
 designer, the content will still arrive in the template exactly the
 same. Likewise, if the template designer wants to completely redesign
 the templates, this requires no changes to the application
 logic. Therefore, the programmer can make changes to the application
 logic without the need to restructure templates, and the template
 designer can make changes to templates without breaking application
 logic.

Regards,
