Bug#362573: ITP: ark3116-source - driver for arkmicrochips ark3116 chipset (UART-USB adapter)

2006-04-14 Thread Erik Schanze
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Erik Schanze <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

* Package name: ark3116-source
  Version : 0.3b
  Upstream Author : Simon Schulz <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://avr.auctionant.de/ark3116_linux_driver/
* License : GPL
Description : ark3116 UART-USB adapter driver - module building source

This package provides the source code for the arkmicro ark3116 chip
as found in mobile phone data cable (for T610, labeled KQ-U8A) or
USB to UART adapter cable (Huge Pine) with USB ids:
 vendor=0x6547, product=0x0232.
 .
There is only a subset of functions supported, baudrate selection
between 150 and 230400 baud works and modes 6N1,7N1,8N1 are also ok.
But ioctl() and baudrates 75, 460800 doesn't work yet.
 .
In order to compile these modules you need the kernel sources (or the
kernel-headers for the kernel-image packages from Debian). For compile
 instructions look into /usr/share/doc/ark3116-source/README.Debian or
 simply use the module-assistant utility.

That would be nice and increase the chance that anybody adopt the Debian
package, I think.

Kino must be a part of sarge, anyway.

Please upload a i386-only-package into sarge,
if others arches are not ready or bugs couldn't fix soon.

A package for any architectures can remain with RC-bug in
unstable until it will be fixed.

It's not "the finest english way", but at this time
IMO reasonable. Kino is THE video editing tool for Debian
and a big eye-catcher.

That's the same on other bugs, so I wouldn't raise my hand
for adopting, although I really love kino. :-(

Kindly regards,
Erik

There is already a package, that do this.
Please see "mpgtx".

What provide your package, that mpgtx is not able to?

Bug#229960: death project, no active upstream

2004-08-12 Thread Erik Schanze
Hi!

I'd like to add my corespondence with upstream of aeromail.

The new package maintainer should be fit enough to take over
the whole project for bugfixing and further development.

Hi Erik,

Development has stopped, no new releases are planned.

Life has gotten in the way of programming as a hobby, I'm afraid.

I am open to offers from people who would like to take over the project,
but I have had none so far.

-Mark

Bug#274472: Let's remove moria

2004-11-11 Thread Erik Schanze
Hello Andrew!

Andrew Pollock <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
> Given that moria is
> in non-free,
This is no reason for dropping. We should also support non-free software
in Debian.

> orphaned,
But it is in good shape at newest upstream version with no bugs.
Only Standards-Version should be updated.

> only a game,
We need as much games as possible in Debian, even if they are textbased,
I think.

> and hasn't had an
> upload in yonks,
No new upstream version is available since last upload.

> I reckon we should remove it.
Why? You will only save some disk space on mirrors.
It is orphaned for 40 days only. Please give other maintainers some more
time to take it.
There are other packages in really bad shape that should be removed firstly.

Perhaps Rene Weber, who was back from MIA in summer, is interested in taking
it back. He wrote me in June, because he tried to get back as much of his
old packages as possible. But I'm suprized that his devloper page on q.d.o
shows
only moria, that is orphaned.
Is he on MIA again?
[CC to him]

Kindly regards,

Erik

This long description gives me no idea, that this package is for.
What is BBS?
It should be improved during your package build process.

Bug#653497: O: afio -- archive file manipulation program

2011-12-28 Thread Erik Schanze (Debian)
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

*** Please type your report below this line ***

I intend to orphan the afio package. I still believe afio is Free
Software, and I tried to keep it in main, but failed.

I'm not able to move it to non-free nor maintain it there, this should
be done by others, sorry.

The package description is:
Afio manipulates groups of files, copying them within or between
 filesystems and an afio archive.
 .
Afio archives are portable as they contain only ASCII-formatted header
information. Afio makes cpio-format archives. Afio deals somewhat
gracefully with input data corruption. Afio supports multi-volume
archives during interactive operation. Afio can make compressed
archives that are much safer than compressed tar or cpio archives.
 .
Afio is best used as an `archive engine' in a backup script.
 .
