Just push your stuff to a branch "toni/doc" or something, and we'll have a look?
You should have push access to collab-maint anyways.

Bug#863656: RFP: qdirstat -- Qt-based directory statistics (KDirStat without any KDE)

2017-05-29 Thread Evgeni Golov
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: qdirstat
  Version : 1.3
  Upstream Author : Stefan Hundhammer
* URL : https://github.com/shundhammer/qdirstat
* License : GPLv2
  Programming Lang: C++
Description : Qt-based directory statistics (KDirStat without any KDE)

QDirStat is a graphical application to show where your disk space
has gone and to help you to clean it up.

This is a Qt-only port of the old Qt3/KDE3-based KDirStat,
now based on the latest Qt 5. It does not need any KDE libs
or infrastructure. It runs on every X11-based desktop on Linux,
BSD and other Unix-like systems.

QDirStat has a number of new features compared to KDirStat.

To name a few:
* Multi-selection in both the tree and the treemap.
* Unlimited number of user-defined cleanup actions.
* Properly show errors of cleanup actions (and their output, if desired).
* File categories (MIME types) and their treemap color are now configurable.
* Exclude rules for directories are easily configurable.
* Desktop-agnostic; no longer relies on KDE or any other specific desktop.

qdirstat is useful on its own and to visualize obnam backup stats.

Sure. I usually have "debian" for unstable and then "debian/jessie",
"debian/jessie-backports" etc for the backports, but I would not mind using
"debian/sid" or "debian/unstable" for the main development branch.
In the end, it's just a name ;)

One thing about backports, policykit in jessie provides polkitd.service, while
stretch/sid have polkit.service (like upstream) and tuned.service depends on
the later. It's a simple patch for jessie, but we'll have to carry it.

I'll setup the collab-maint repo and push my stuff there.

is there any progress on this ITP? I would be interested in a package too.
Actually, I have some half-working git tree at [1].

Please note, the python perf package tuned wants is [2] not [3] :/

Why not retire the gnome-games metapackage if it was only for upgrades?
As far as I can see it, the real package is in wheezy, and since jessie
we have the transitional one. Same will apply for stretch. And for buster
you can safely drop it and re-introduce the real app under that name?

Actually, I think building from a release tarball is a good thing. This
ensures that every distro has the same Ansible.

How about we talk to upstream to actually include the docs in the tarballs?
That should not be that hard.

Then we can build and ship them and everyone wins?

Which source is this built from?
Do you basically want a mirror of https://docs.ansible.com/ansible/ in
a Debian package?

If it is more than ansible-doc , then it certainly is.
I just wonder whether it is sensible to built it from an own source,
and not from the ansible source itself.

Bug#849480: RFA: teg -- Turn based strategy game

2016-12-27 Thread Evgeni Golov
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Ohai,

I would like to request the adoption of teg (inside of pkg-games?).

Description: Turn based strategy game
Tenes Empanadas Graciela is a clone of Plan Tactico y Estrategico
de la Guerra, based on Risk.
 .
Teg is a multiplayer game (it can be played across the internet)
and it comes with a server, a GNOME client and a robot.
It has support for IPv6, too.

Upstream:
 https://github.com/wfx/teg

I am not quite sure how I ended up in the Uploaders field anyways,
but I did not give any love to the package in the last years and
do not intend to change that.

The package is maintained under the pkg-games umbrella, but has no
human Uploaders left in SVN.

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Ohai,

I request an adoption of u3-tool, as I do not have any U3 capable devices
and no need for the tool anymore.

package description is:
Tool for controlling USB flash devices that conform to the U3 specifications.
You can do the following with your U3 flash:
  * Replace the CD image
  * Change the size of the virtual CD or completely remove it
  * Enable and disable security
  * Unlock and change the password of secured U3 device
  * Obtain various device information

The package is in OKish state, but needs porting to newer libusb.
Upstream seems to have a new release in SVN, but there are no tarballs?!

Severity: normal

Ohai,

I request an adopter for the gtkperf package.

The package description is:
GtkPerf is an application designed to test GTK+ performance.
The point is to create common testing platform to run predefined
GTK+ widgets (opening comboboxes, toggling buttons, scrolling text)
and this way define the speed of device/platform.

The package is in reasonable shape, but did not see an upload since 2009.
Upstream is not active anymore either (last release 2005).

Yes, Adnan is in pkg-lxc and technically the team is interested (given it falls
into the same software stack) to have the whole stack available in Debian.
But I must admit I personally have no use for it and not enough Go knowledge to
package it properly.

Yes, taking the Ubuntu package is a start is what we did with the other LXC

IIRC that's similar to what Adnan told me the last time we talked about LXD.

Whatever works? :-)
Stack-wise it's more pkg-lxc, language-wise pkg-go...
I'd guess it will need coordination to both, LXC and other Go uploads at times
too.

Is there any progress on this? I'd love to see lxcfs in Debian :)
I did try the Ubuntu packaging and it compiles and runs fine on Debian,

Ohai, I am looking for a new maintainer for monkeystudio as I am not using

Upstream is alive and responsive :)

Bug#809062: O: v86d - daemon to run x86 code in an emulated environment

2015-12-26 Thread Evgeni Golov
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I hereby orphan the v86d package as I do not have any hardware where
uvesafb is needed and thus have no need and no testbed for v86d.

The current version in sid has not been touched since 2011 (wheezy).
It has three bugs open in Debian and two in Ubuntu, mostly about
crashes and CPU hogging, yay :/

Description: daemon to run x86 code in an emulated environment
v86d provides a backend for kernel drivers that need to execute
x86 BIOS code. The code is executed in a controlled environment
and the results are passed back to the kernel via the netlink
 interface.
 .
v86d is needed by the uvesafb kernel module.

I notice that there is another implementation of this idea that supports
more laptops than the Linux one, should these two be merged or what?

 https://packages.debian.org/sid/hdapsd

The freefall interface is pretty cool and easy, because the decision is
done in hardware and the userspace only has to actually trigger parking
the heads. That's also supported by hdapsd (and if not properly, I, with
my upstream hat on, want patches as I do not own any HP/Dell hardware).
hdapsd also supports other motion sensors, that only report motion and
no binary decision.

That said, I would favour only having one complete implementation in the
archive (and wonder why noone told me about the in-kernel tool for 7
years), but would not oppose someone else maintaining the version built
from src:linux ;)

It may be useful for other purposes, though, but AFAIK, since bbswitch

tlp (or, more precisely, tpacpi-bat) - if and when available in Debian - will
need this kernel module for proper operation on new ThinkPad models; currently
it has some kind of automatic installation function for acpi_call kernel

There is effort (by jak@) to get support for that into the kernel[1],
would this make acpi-call obsolete again?

from CS/LS to JS at runtime, and execute that via V8 again.

PostgreSQL. Procedural languages are used to write functions

We will probably have to coordinate around the libv8 releases at some point.
Would you like to put this package in the pkg-javascript-devel team ?

That, or pkg-postgresql. Not sure which matches better :)
Coorindinating with v8 might be a reason for pkg-js.

BTW, as you seem to be good with the whole js stuff: plv8 includes
coffee-script.js and livescript.js, is there a sane way to generate
these at build-time? coffee-script is packaged, but I do not see a
single .js as shipped in plv8 currently.

This module allows you to get the public suffix of a domain name using
the Public Suffix List from http://publicsuffix.org
..
A public suffix is one under which Internet users can directly register names.
Some examples of public suffixes are .com, .co.uk and pvt.k12.wy.us.
Accurately knowing the public suffix of a domain is useful when handling
web browser cookies, highlighting the most important part of a domain name in
a user interface or sorting URLs by web site.

The Python module ships with a (possibly out-dated) copy of the Public Suffix
List so that it is usable out of the box.
The Debian package will use the list provided by the publicsuffix package
instead.

Mostly the documentation: python-gnupg's interface is fully documented

 it has an in-depth manual/tutorial[1].

among the other python interfaces to gnupg functionality,
python-gnupginterface seems to be the one documented best

homepage[2] features broken links both to the mailing list
 and documentation.
The docstrings for both python-gpgme and python-pyme are
both poor, and in the case of pyme the homepage just refers
to the pgpme docs, which are complete, but of course based on the
slighty different conventions of the C library.

Hm, okay.
I must admit I have used both pyme and pygpgme with great success, but
relying on the gpgme docs, as these are quite complete and apply quite
well to the Python versions.

Another question I would like to raise is the performance --
python-gnupg seems to be a command line wrapper around gnupg, thus
having to fork() heavily -- does it affect processing of data?

Bug#579509: ctpl version 0.3 available at m.d.n

 especially
 for the symbols file.

Hi Jonathan,

first of all a HUGE sorry for not mailing you about ctpl before. Yes, I
still want to upload it, and I think we can manage it in a breeze. :)

Your symbols update looks good (as far as I can tell).
Lintian told me (with --pedantic), that the packages did not have an
upstream changelog and looking at the upstream tarball it seems the
changelog is in NEWS for upstream, thus I added the following to
debian/rules:
override_dh_installchangelogs:
dh_installchangelogs NEWS

packaging-wise this is the only change I'd do before uploading, so you
did a really good job here!

I'd like to discuss some orga stuff before uploading though.
ctpl is currently only needed for geany-plugins (in which you are
interested IIRC). Thus I'd like to suggest you join pkg-geany on Alioth
[1], we put your package into Git there and maintain with three pairs of
eyes for two distributions from there. Oh, and I promise to upload fast
from now on :)

Your orga stuff sounds pretty good to me. I was always lacking some git to
update the package, for example to write the changelog a git diff is really
interesting. Of course you will have to cope with a complete noob on alioth
but I will try to avoid breaking thinks too quickly...

I will ask for membership on the link you provided just now.

okay, I've started git packaging at

basicly thats Loong Jin's ubuntu repository with your and my latest changes.

if you use IRC, come over to #geany on freenode and ping hyperair and

if not, start reading git-buildpackage's docs and throw us your

I've prepared .debs for the latest (0.3.8) libindicator release. Mostly

Yupp, I started working on it, as an dependency for
xfce4-plugin-indicator and I have a working version of the 0.2 package
in the pkg-xfce svn. However, x-p-indicator sucks (read: sort of
unusable software), which is the reason I did not upload libindicator at
that time.

If you are interested, I could have a look at the newest upstream and
upload it in a couple of days. Or you fetch my stuff from svn and work
on your own, or you look at what ubuntu has done here (my package was
based on theirs at that time anyways).

 Hi Evgeni,

It's actually ready for upload, but I haven't put it anywhere yet. The
thing is that some, if not most of the plugins in the geany-plugins
project might be merged in the future. So I'm not very sure if I should
go ahead with getting this uploaded now, or whether I should wait a
 while more.

Well, do you know any timeframe for the merge? If it will be tomorrow or
next week, an upload now is indeed useless. But if it is to happen in
two months, I think we could uplod now and benefit from the standalone
package in the meantime.

Evgeni

Great.

Do you feel like sponsoring the other Geany plugins as well?

Why not, they may become usefull :)
Could you list the ones you prepared and their ITPs (if you submitted
