I have made a few comments on the open bugs. My impression is that kwiki
should be removed from Debian, but I have not yet decided to request the
 removal.

This is a transitional package for transitions from pre-oldstable. It should
just be removed.

Hi,

This is an automatic email to change the status of unicon back from ITA

If you are still interested in adopting unicon, please send a mail to
cont...@bugs.debian.org with:

adopting the package. It is also a good idea to document your progress on this
ITA from time to time, by mailing 629...@bugs.debian.org.

I don't use gtkpod anymore since I don't use my iPod anymore.
While libgpod has active maintainers, nobody seems to care
about the original gtkpod frontend.

maintainers about the use of the pkg-gtkpod Alioth project.

After having a look at the issue I saw that those file actually have
a reference to the AUTHORS file, which seems to be the place in TomBoy
where the copyright for all those files is declared. I personally would
guess probably fulfills the letter of law and license (but it is really only
a guess at this point). I'm a bit unsure though why it was chosen to
refer to the AUTHORS file instead of just including the copyright statement
in the file right next to the new one, which would probably have avoided
this whole discussion.

So pending a thorough review and without having seen the debian/copyright
file, I currently see no reason not to allow this in Debian. I don't think
that it contains any blatant lies about the copyright status of the work,
even though I have the feeling it tries to avoid giving credit to
the original authors any more than necessary. But that is a social issue
and not a legal one.

Bug#496264: cuneiform_0.5+dfsg-1_i386.changes REJECTED

2009-02-22 Thread Frank Lichtenheld
Hi.

Lets not further leave this package in limbo. The current situation is
as follows:

1) REJECT for missing copyright holders in debian/copyright. That should
   be easily fixable.

2) It would be interesting to know where those .dat files come from and
whether there exists some kind of source for them. In the package itself
I could not find any information about that.

3) The issue with the libraries. Their names are really too generic and
they really aren't packaged as proper shared libraries, so you can't
put them into /usr/lib. And I still don't see how this could cause any
unsurmountable issues in other packages. If you insist that this problem
can't be fixed quickly and provide a more elaborate explanation than
other packages want to depend on it I would be willing to allow this
package
into the archive anyway (preferably into experimental), as long there is a
   RC bug documenting the issue.

Hope this helps to move the issue forward.

Gruesse,
Frank

Description: terminal-based ripper/encoder/tagger tool
crip creates Ogg Vorbis/FLAC/MP3 files under UNIX/Linux. It is
well-suited for anyone (especially the perfectionist) who seeks to
make a lot of files from CDs and have them all properly labeled and
professional-quality with a minimum of hassle and yet still have
flexibility and full control over everything. Current versions of crip
only support Ogg Vorbis and FLAC.
 .
This script is special because it is the only one that I know that is
capable of doing group vorbisgain/replaygain and/or normalization
(adjust the volume to be as loud as possible without
clipping/distortion) and group labelling/tagging, which makes it easy
to allow a group of tracks to be treated as one piece. It can also trim
off the silence at the beginning and end of these tracks/groups.

Description: perl module to compare perl data structures recursively
The Data::Compare module compares two perl data structures recursively,
it natively handles several built-in data types - scalars, references
to scalars, references to arrays, references to hashes, references
to subroutines, compiled regular expressions, and globs. For objects, it tries
to Do The Right Thing and compares the underlying data type.
 .
However, this is not always what you want. This is especially true if you
have complex objects which overload stringification and/or numification.
So you can extend this module with your own plugins for special data
structures, by using Data::Compare::Plugins (this is not an extra package, it
 is included here).

Description: perl module to add run-time properties on scalar variables
Scalar::Properties attempts to make Perl more object-oriented by
taking an idea from Ruby: Everything you manipulate is an object,
and the results of those manipulations are objects themselves.
 .
 'hello world'-length
 (-1234)-abs
oh my god, it's full of properties-index('g')
 .
The first example asks a string to calculate its length. The second
example asks a number to calculate its absolute value. And the
third example asks a string to find the index of the letter 'g'.
 .
Using this module you can have run-time properties on initialized
scalar variables and literal values. The word 'properties' is used
in the Perl 6 sense: out-of-band data, little sticky notes that
are attached to the value. While attributes (as in Perl 5's attribute
pragma, and see the Attribute::* family of modules) are handled
at compile-time, properties are handled at run-time.

Description: playlist editor / player frontend
Juice is a frontend for mpg123 and other players. It provides
 a nifty dialog-based playlist editor.
 .
It basically allows you to browse through your files in a
Midnight Commander-like fashion. The MP3's you select are
treated as a playlist which can be shuffled, rearranged,
 saved, etc.
 .
In order to play audio files, two player interfaces are
provided. The mpg123-specific interface uses the remote
protocol of mpg123 (This feature was introduced in version
0.59r in order to accommodate generic frontends.) The other
player frontend is generic and allows for any player to be
used. This is useful if you do not want to limit the
functionality of juice to MP3's. Please note that this
generic frontend is still in early beta phase and is
 pretty buggy.
 .
Of course juice comes with all the bells whistles you'd
expect from a quality application and has (among others)
full integrated help functionality as well as full dialog
 based configuration file editor.

Bug#361346: Remove

2008-09-17 Thread Frank Lichtenheld
severity 361346 serious
thanks

Hi,

astrolog has been orphaned for a long time now and I am evaluating
whether a request for removal should be finally filed.

You are receiving this mail because:
 - your name showed up somewhere in the history of the package
 - I think that you might be interested for some reason
 - or you maintain a related/similar package

Are you interested in adopting this package? Do you know potential adopters?
If so, please could you forward them this mail, Ccing the BTS and me?

If there is no action from anyone, I'll request the removal of this package
from Debian after a month.

Thank you,

Stemming reduces related words to a common root form. For instance,
horse, horses, and horsing all become hors. Most commonly,
stemming is deployed as part of a search application, allowing searches
for a given term to match documents which contain other forms of that
 term.

What is the relation of this module to things like
liblingua-stem-snowball-da-perl, libsnowball-norwegian-perl, and
libsnowball-swedish-perl?

Bug#467584: RFA: modconf -- Device Driver Configuration

2008-02-26 Thread Frank Lichtenheld
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I request an adopter for the modconf package.

This program is a remnant of the old boot-floppies installer and will
probably need a complete redesign and rewrite to remain useful. For
neither I have the time, but I will happily share some of my thoughts
about that with people interested.

Note that there is a Alioth project modconf for this package which
a new maintainer should take over as well (but maybe only to delete
it, it is currently used only for the mailing list modconf-commits).

The package description is:
Modconf provides a terminal-based interface for installing and configuring
 device driver modules.

Seems to work fine on my PowerBook G4 12

Aside from the maintainer script issues there are also some (harmless)
lintian warnings you could fix:
W: pbbuttonsd source: out-of-date-standards-version 3.7.2 (current is 3.7.3)
W: pbbuttonsd source: dpatch-build-dep-but-no-patch-list pbbuttonsd
I: pbbuttonsd: hyphen-used-as-minus-sign

W: pbbuttonsd: package-contains-empty-directory usr/share/locale/it/LC_MESSAGES/
W: pbbuttonsd: init-d-script-stops-in-s-runlevel /etc/init.d/pbbuttonsd

And the Copyright 2002 in debian/copyright could probably use an update.

But the only important thing really is the conffile handling.

  Gruesse,

no, it didn't reached the archive, but packages of pbbuttonsd and
powerprefs are sitting on mentors.d.n [1][2] from about 2 months now.
Filippo Giunchedi offered to sponsor, but he is quite busy at this
 time...

Can you review and eventually sponsor the packages?

Will see whether I can spend some time on it tomorrow.

Bug#461112: ITP: kssh -- KDE front end to ssh

Description : KDE front end to ssh
Kssh is a KDE front-end to ssh. It can work as a standalone KDE
application that launches ssh connections in a terminal window. It can
also be used as a session inside KDE's konsole application. That means
that in konsole, you can press the New Session button, and then select
Secure Shell. A dialog box lets you select the host and user, and
optionally customize the connection.

Hmm, a sentence about why a user should use this program over kdessh
as shipped with KDE might be helpful.

What is the status of this ITP? I would be interested in this package.
