Thanks!

I would be glad to accept any patches to the packages I've created that make
them
acceptable for Debian, as long as the current basic installation method is
preserved.

What I think has caused some problems in the past is the way the /etc/webmin
directory
is created at install time, rather than being part of the package.
Unfortunately, this
is necessary as it's initial contents can differ based on the Debian version
being
installed into ..

Sorry, I have moved those files around since last updating this bug.
The new (and final) locations are :

Bug#377948: TAG: Webmin -- A web-based administration interface for Unix systems.

2006-07-11 Thread Jamie Cameron
Package: wnpp
Severity: ITP

Webmin is a web-based interface for system administration for Unix. Using any
browser
that supports tables and forms (and Java for the File Manager module), you can
setup
user accounts, Apache, DNS, file sharing and so on.

Webmin consists of a simple web server, and a number of CGI programs which
directly
update system files like /etc/inetd.conf and /etc/passwd. The web server and
all CGI
programs are written in Perl version 5, and use no non-standard Perl modules.

A Debian package of Webmin is available from:
http://www.webmin.com/download/deb/webmin_1.290.deb

Webmin is distributed under a BSD license.

Thanks for the info .. I used /usr/libexec/webmin for my RPM package, but I
will switch to /usr/share/webmin for the DPKG.

I used the dpkg --build command.
I will use the _all name in future.

OK - is there any documentation on the formats for these files?

That's a bug - I'll fix that in the final build.

Not really, as it was different to the way all the other (RPM, Solaris, tgz)
Webmin packages were built, and introduced a bunch of dependency problems
between modules.

I have created a .diff file for Webmin 1.296. You can see it and
the .deb files under http://download.webmin.com/devel/deb/, and
the original source under http://download.webmin.com/devel/tarballs/
