Bug#982063: RFP: ulauncher -- Application launcher for GNU/Linux

2021-02-06 Thread Johannes Rohr
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name    : ulauncher
  Version : 5.9
  Upstream Author : Aleksandr Gornostal
* URL : https://ulauncher.io/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Python
  Description : Application launcher for GNU/Linux

A very versatile and extensible application launcher for desktops.
It is a great addition for desktop envirohnments such as MATE,
whose built-in application launcher has only core function.
Its features include fuzzy search, custom skins, shortcuts, plugins,
and commands. Ulauncher is excellent at launching applications,
searching through folders, opening files – all with an eye candy preview
window.

It would be great to have, because all the predecessors such as
synapse seem to have been orphaned. It has been packaged for
Ubuntu already, a ppa is available.

Bug#847613: Use code from PPA for initial package

2018-12-24 Thread Johannes Rohr
I really value the intent to package this piece of software, but for me
it is hard to understand why after two years of the ITP, still nothing
has happened.

For starters, it should be easy to just pull the code from the Nextcloud
PPA over at Ubuntu
, which is
also linked from the Nextcloud website, that is, it comes closest to
being an official package endorsed by upstream.

Having a native deb would be clearly advantageous ove the AppImage, as
the latter does not provide file manager integration, automatic upgrades
or system wide installation.

Bug#677605: RFP: mbm-gpsd -- control daemon for Ericsson F3507g Mobile Broadband / GPS devices

2012-06-15 Thread Johannes Rohr
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: mbm-gpsd
  Version : GIT
  Upstream Author : MBM developers
* URL : http://mbm.sourceforge.net/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: C
  Description : control daemon for Ericsson F3507g Mobile Broadband / GPS
devices

The GPS control software is developed with gpsd in mind. This means that gpsd
will work with the pseudo-devices published by mbm-gpsd which in turn means
that any gps application that uses gpsd will also work with the Ericsson
modules. While it is possible to use the devices published by the modules
directly (basic funcionality by sending AT-commands manually), mbm-gpsd will
make things alot easier. For example it will automatically turn the gps on/off
when clients connect, enter the pin/puk code and enable assisted gps mode which
requires user interaction. For user interaction a control application;
mbm-gps-control is also available.

Bug#406448: O: gtk-imonc

2007-01-11 Thread Johannes Rohr
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the gtk-imonc package. I don't have access to a fli4l
routers anymore. Therefore I cannot verify gtk-imonc's proper
functioning any longer.

The latest upstream release is of Jan 2005. It already has a bug,
preventing proper remote updates of the router software.

My old email address, which is still in the control file is
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Unfortunately I had to switch that one of because the load of daily spam
became just unbearable.

Thanks,

Johannes

Bug#364731: O: f-prot-installer -- F-Prot(tm) Antivirus installer package

2006-04-25 Thread Johannes Rohr
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I intend to orphan the f-prot-installer package, as I definitely don't
have the time to maintain it. The package has been up for adoption for
many months now. While a number of people have expressed interest in
maintaining this package, nobody has actually done so.

The package description is:
 F-Prot(tm) for Workstations is a powerful command-line virus
 scanner. It can be run stand-alone or utilized by other packages
 such as mailscanner or amavis.
 .
 Since the license does not explicitely permit redistribution, this
 package doesn't contain the actual software, but downloads it from
 the vendor's FTP site and installs it for you.
 .
 The installer has been tested with F-Prot(tm) 4.0.0 and does not work for
 older versions.
 .
 This package also comes with a maintenance script to keep your
 F-Prot(tm) installation up-to-date. Furthermore a cron script for
 automatic virus definition updates is included.
 .
 If you install F-Prot for Workstations(tm), please take into
 account the rather restrictive license terms.
 .
 More info about F-Prot(tm) can be found at http://www.f-prot.com

I request an adopter for the f-prot-installer package.

Right, thanks. But shouldn't the first word be capitalized?

You mean GNOME has to be all upper case?

Unoffical debs exist. None of them is in Debian yet.

> Maybe mention them by name.

Maybe. But since they are not in Debian (and I don't intend to package
KDE software since I don't use KDE myself), I'd rather give an URL
where a listing of those clients can be found.

GTK-Imonc is a graphical client for FLI4L, a popular one-diskette
Linux-based router for small networks that offers many advanced features
(see http://www.fli4l.de/). Gtk-Imonc connects to the imond server (the

  * calls and connections when logging is activated on the router

Bug#162159: Upstream is well debianized already

2003-01-04 Thread Johannes Rohr
The upstream offers a .deb for download and the source is quite well
debianized, builds cleanly (although I don't have a pbuilder to make a
real test.) It should take very few effort to get workrave into debian,
albeit it might make sense to wait for the next release which includes
system tray support, more translations etc.

Do you mean GSwitchIT? http://gswitchit.sourceforge.net

... while GSwitchit doesn't support switching between keymaps - which
makes it rather useless to me. (German/Russian are the keymaps that I
use most often). gkb may be a quick hack. But in its present state,
gswitchit is far from a suitable replacement.
