Looks like there is a revival going on[1][2] and a new version was released
a few days ago[3]. They are probably more responsive now, it would be
interesting to ask them again about those licensing issues.

(Btw, I loved the game and I'm willing to help if needed. Perhaps it would
be a good idea to move the packaging to the pkg-games repo.)

Have you already built jclic from source? How? I tried to build it using gcj
a long time ago (that is, before GPLd java was announced)... but "failed".
Back then I also found other issues related to the packaging and licensing,
and sent a report upstream[1].

I'm interested in the package, but I was waiting for the inclusion of GPLd
java in Debian before trying to package it again.

Anyway, I would be glad to help co-maintain jclic if you are interested.

A new demo was released[1] a few days ago (packages available in the
same URL); and the Debian package has been moved to the pkg-games[2]
repository[3].

Hi Evgeni,

Thank you for offering, help is always welcome. If you are still
interested, what do you think about joining the pkg-games[1][2] team
and maintaining the package collaboratively?

Feel free to reply or join #debian-games in OFTC if you have questions
about it.

The package is now in the pkg-games repo[1]. I reviewed it made a few
changes, and I think it is now mostly ready for a new upload.

Tamas, I assume you still have some interest, so I added you to
"Uploaders". Please tell me if you prefer to stay away from the package
until you have more time.

The Debian packaging didn't have a license at all; I changed the
copyright to reflect that it is under the same license than upstream:
GPLv2 or later.

Plese let me know if you prefer some other license.

Bug#387987: ITP: allacrost -- single player, 2D sprite-based role playing game

2006-09-17 Thread Jordà Polo
Package: wnpp

* Package name : allacrost
  Version : 0.1.0
  Upstream Author : Tyler Olsen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://www.allacrost.org/
* License : GPL
  Description : single player, 2D sprite-based role playing game

Hero of Allacrost resembles the gameplay of console RPGs developed in
the 1990s. The game is released in numerous modules or pieces that you
can play until it is completed (analogous to episodes or chapters).

It is still at an early stage of development. There aren't public releases
yet, only internal betatests. A tech demo to show what it is capable of
is expected very soon.

Here is un update just in case someone is interested in this package.

The first tech demo has been released already, and the packages are
available here:

  deb http://debian.ettin.org/allacrost unstable main
  deb-src http://debian.ettin.org/allacrost unstable main

For package verification, you can also download the public gpg key[1].

(I'll probably move the game to the pkg-games team repo once there is
something actually "playable", but any kind of help is welcome.)

It looks like there is ancient ITP for this package already, see
#244582[1]. This bug should probably be closed, but since the last update
of the RFP is more than a year old, it wouldn't be a bad idea to ask
which is the status.
