I don't know the reasons why Debian decided to drop OpenOffice.org and
replace it with LibreOffice, but I currently see no reason why we should
replace MySQL with MariaDB.

Description : advanced URL grabbing package for python

Python package that drastically simplifies the fetching of files. It is
designed to be used in programs that need common (but not necessarily simple)
url-fetching features. It is extremely simple to drop into an existing program
and provides a clean interface to protocol-independant file-access. Best of
all, urlgrabber takes care of all those pesky file-fetching details, and lets
you focus on whatever it is that your program is written to do!

It came into existence as the part of yum that downloads rpms and header
files, but it quickly became clear that this is a general problem that many
applications must deal with.

Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

I'm looking for someone who wants to co-maintain vim, since I realized
that I'm currently unable to take care of the package alone. There are
a lot of open bugs that should be fixed, and there's also the upcoming
vim 7.0 package which is a complete rewrite of the packaging. It
should be easy to work on the package together, there's a project on
alioth using subversion already.

Drop me a mail if you're interested.

The package description is:
Vim is an almost compatible version of the UNIX editor Vi. Many new
features have been added: multi level undo, syntax highlighting,
command line history, on-line help, filename completion, block operations,
 folding, Unicode support, etc.

Description : Load Balancing NNTP Router

NNTPSwitch forwards client connections to multiple backend servers to
get it's articles. Depending on the backend server type, all NNTP
commands and extensions are supported.

NNTPSwitch offers extensive virtual hosting envinronments to be set
up. Virtual servers can have different sets of user groups. All kinds
of different access policies can be set up using access-lists,
authorization lists and group lists. Each individual user or session
can have its own rate-limits, bytelimits, timelimits and other
tunables to make up for everything an ISP wants.

Do you still have the single patches? Otherwise it'd be a pain to

What about switching to dpatch? I took a look at the ion3 source
package, and saw that patches against the upstream source are directly
in the diff.gz. Having separate patches is clearer and it makes
upgrading to a new upstream release easier.
