Bug#914253: ITP: python-sqlalchemy-migrate -- Database schema migration for SQLAlchemy

2018-11-20 Thread Per Andersson
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Per Andersson

* Package name: python-sqlalchemy-migrate
  Version : 0.11.0
  Upstream Author : OpenStack
* URL : https://pypi.org/project/sqlalchemy-migrate/
* License : MIT/Expat
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : Database schema migration for SQLAlchemy

Inspired by Ruby on Rails’ migrations, Migrate provides a way to deal
with database schema changes in SQLAlchemy projects.

Migrate extends SQLAlchemy to have database changeset handling. It
provides a database change repository mechanism which can be used from
the command line as well as from inside python code.

This is required for new versions of pytrainer.

I plan to maintain this in the Python Modules Team.

Bug#764071: ITP: toxic -- a curses Tox based instant messenging client

  Version : 0.5.2
  Upstream Author : JFreegman jfreeg...@gmail.com

* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: C
Description : a curses Tox based instant messenging client

Toxic is a Tox-based instant messenging client which formerly resided in
the Tox core repository, and is now available as a standalone
application.
.
Tox is a secure and distributed Skype replacement.
.
At its heart it’s a client dealing with our core library communicating
on our own protocol. All communications are encrypted using the peer
audited NaCl cypto library and this encryption can not be turned off.
.
Tox is powered by a distributed network which uses P2P connections for
chats between people, unlike other Skype replacements no federated
servers, centralized servers, or supernodes are used.

This is a way to replace Skype. It is decentralized, as opposed to
Jabber/XMPP, SIP, Jitsi etc.

If anyone wants to co-maintain they are very welcome. Is there a
communications team? I know of the OTR team, but that is only for OTR...

I would suggest that you maintain it in the Debian Junior Team.

I don't know why Debian Junior Team might be interested to take care of
Abiword. At the moment Abiword repository is at collab-maint where all DDs can
contribute. For now let's keep repository where it is although I do not mind
if Junior team will be listed as Maintainer and take over the packaging.

Also please take care of wv dependency package.

The reason why Debian Junior is interested in abiword is because it is
in one of our metapackages: junior-writing. Since abiword was up for
adoption I thought you were going to leave it to its fate.

Perhaps it is better to not put Debian Jr as maintainers, since the team
so far is small and would rather like to focus on building the pure blend.

We will however help out if we can with packaging, packaging review,
and uploads.

Bug#695194: help with webmock tests

Finally em-http-request new version is available in unstable.

I was able to run all tests in my local environment but it is failing
in pbuilder. Can anyone try to run those? It is related to test/unit
and minitest. My ruby expertise is almost nil and I won't be able to
fix them myself. Other option is to disable these tests.

 /tmp/buildd/ruby-webmock-1.17.4/lib/webmock/test_unit.rb:9:in
 `alias_method': undefined method `teardown' for class `MiniTest::Test'
 (NameError)

I looked at this a bit.

Maybe you can just add an empty teardown method in
lib/webmock/test_unit.rb? Just add the following

  def teardown
  end

before alias_method on line 9. (There is probably some better and more
elegant way to handle this that I don't know of.)

When I did this the tests ran and seemed to report about actual test failures
instead of a failing run, complaining about failing stub_http_requests...

 Please review the patches also.

As I said on IRC, please split the patch that both removes rubygems from
tests (is this even necessary anymore?) and the porting to minitest into
two patches.

Bug#713803: jquery-ui-rails and jquery-ui versions

2014-04-13 Thread Per Andersson
On Sun, Apr 13, 2014 at 5:00 PM, Pirate Praveen prav...@gmail.com wrote:
 Hi,

I'm trying to package jquey-ui-rails and ran into jquery-ui version
conflicts. jquery-ui-rails embeds a version of jquery-ui and easiest
option would be to ship jquery-ui-rails as is, but it would mean
duplication of libjs-jquery-ui package. So I thought of depending on
libjs-jquery-ui package for ruby-jquery-ui-rails but the versions are
 differet.

jquery-ui-rails has jquery-ui version 1.10.3 (older versions of
 jquery-ui-rails has only 1.10.0)
 libjs-jquery-ui is 1.10.1
 jquery-ui latest upstream is 1.10.4

To keep ruby-jquery-ui-rails in a sane position,

 1. jquery-ui-rails and libjs-jquery-ui maintainers have to agree to be in
 sync.

 Other option is to

 2. just use the version provided by libjs-jquery-ui for
ruby-jquery-ui-rails but it may break applications if there are
incompatible changes. We can add +jqueryui1.10.1 to debian's version.

I'm leaning towards option 2. What do you suggest?

Does different minor versions break compatibility between libjs-jquery-ui and
ruby-jquery-ui-rails?

Do you know if it is difficult or a lot of work to carry patches in
ruby-jquery-ui-rails
to fix possible incompatibilities?

I would prefer using the libjs-jquery-ui already in Debian, although trying to
keep both up to date.

I don't have a working BankID so maybe this is expected behaviour?

You can now test FriBID at https://fribid.se/test/

I have tested this now and it works.

Even if you don't have a BankID you should get a dialog box asking for a
BankID and a password. You can also generate a test BankID with the
 client/sendreq.sh script in the source.

Consider shipping the shell scripts in client/ with fribid
examples (so they will end up in /usr/share/doc/fribid/examples/).

Hmm, looks like this pb revolves around the adaptation done upstream to cope

Instead of pushing upstream to cope with Debian, I'd rather let upstream keep
thing simple (and portable). Then as Debian packager, I would create patches
 to adapt upstream to Debian.

Bug#703188: Offer to sponsor ruby-pygments.rb

Since the idea is to use this for GitLab where ruby-github-markup will
use this custom lexer IIRC, this needs to go somewhere.

For the record, newer version of jekyll also require ruby-pygments.rb. And
gitlab is not required for jekyll.

Ok.

 In the current
packaging, the bundled pygments is not used at all in favour for
 python-pygments in Debian (debian/patches/0002-...).

My intention was to push this custom lexer upstream.

 https://github.com/tmm1/pygments.rb/pull/77

Another way is of course to add this to the Debian pygments package (if
pygments upstream won't allow custom lexers as stated in the pull request).

I guess that you meant adding gitlab stuff to python-pygments package, not
 ruby-pygments.rb...

Yes.

Anyway, here's the status as I understand it:
 - gitlab custom lexer won't be merged in upstream ruby-pygments

It is in the upstream pygments.rb source tree.

 - gitlab custom lexer won't be merged in upstream python-pygments

This is how I have understood it.

 - python-pygment has some plugin mechanism (see
   /usr/share/doc/python-pygments/plugins.html)

Nice find!

 Possible solutions:
 - create a package (upstream or debian) for gitlab custom lexer. In theory
python-pygment plugin can be used to load gitlab lexer in python-pygment.
(...)
From a technical point of view (and for our user), the first solution is
 probably the best.

But I don't have the skill and the time to implement it. Unless someone steps
up, I'm going to implement the latter solution.

IIRC the github custom lexer is only one file right?

I can have a look at pygments plugin and talk with upstream also if they might
want to include the github markup lexer.

I looked at the actual source and the github lexer implements four
custom lexers:

* Dasm16
* Puppet
* TOML
* Augeas

Puppet is supported by pygments nowadays, and the others are not widely used
that I know of.

I say we ship ruby-pygments without the github custom lexer.

If someone is interested in getting Debian's ruby-pygments to support Dasm16,
TOML, or Augeas; they can push for getting these parts of the github
lexer included
in pygments upstream.

Should have looked at the code earlier...

Bug#703188: Test issues with ruby-pygments.rb

 Hello

 Package build of ruby-pygments.rb version
 91f0ef32d7accf4de83e099d164781c48d523a8f
 works, well sort of works.

The package build and test do not return errors. But 2 pythons processes go
on running 100% CPU for tens of seconds after the package build is finished.

 The running processes are:
 python2
 [...]/pkg-ruby-extras/build-area/ruby-pygments.rb-0.5.0~git.20130605.84c69a1/lib/pygments/mentos.py
 python2
 [...]/pkg-ruby-extras/build-area/ruby-pygments.rb-0.5.0~git.20130605.84c69a1/lib/pygments/mentos.py

So something is seriously wrong in the way ruby-pygments is controlling
 the python-pygments processes.

I don't think reasonable to send this package to Debian build system until
 this problem is fixed.

I found out what causes this problem: for some reason popen4 dose not
report the correct pid (or some such) and it is not killed correctly. The cpu
pegging can be reproduced by running the test case
test_returns_nil_on_timeout.

I have created a fix and forwarded it for upstream inclusion

https://github.com/tmm1/pygments.rb/pull/119

When this is accepted upstream I intend to go forth with repackaging
the upstream tarball and removing the vendor directory entirely.

Some of the issues have been fixed by improving error messaging (so,
still not able to retrieve media, but a little improvement at least :-)).

Bug#739115: ITP: python-pies -- library for writing programs for both Python 2 and 3

2014-02-15 Thread Per Andersson
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Per Andersson avtob...@gmail.com

* Package name: python-pies
  Version : 2.6.0
Upstream Author : Timothy Crosley timothy.cros...@gmail.com
* URL : https://github.com/timothycrosley/pies
* License : Expat
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : library for writing programs for both Python 2 and 3

Pies is a Python 2 and 3 compatibility layer with the philosophy that all
code should be Python 3 code. Starting from this viewpoint means that
when running on Python 3 pies adds virtually no overhead.
 .
Instead of providing a bunch of custom methods (leading to Python code
that looks out of place on any version) pies aims to backport as many
of the Python 3 API calls, imports, and objects to Python 2 - relying
on special syntax only when absolutely necessary.

This is a dependency for frosted, which I also filed an ITP for.

A similar package is python-six.

I plan to maintain it in collab-maint.

Bug#739116: ITP: frosted -- a simple program which checks Python source files for errors

2014-02-15 Thread Per Andersson
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Per Andersson avtob...@gmail.com

* Package name: frosted
  Version : 1.3.3
Upstream Author : Timothy Crosley timothy.cros...@gmail.com
* URL : https://github.com/timothycrosley/frosted
* License : Expat
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : a simple program which checks Python source files for errors

Frosted is a fork of pyflakes (originally created by Phil Frost) that
aims at more open contribution from the outside public, a smaller more
maintainable code base, and a better Python checker for all. It
currently cleanly supports Python 2.6 - 3.4 using pies to achieve this
 without ugly hacks and/or py2to3.

I use this and plan to maintain it in collab-maint.

It is a fork of pyflakes (which seems to have become a bit stale) and is
taken in by the python community.

https://mail.python.org/pipermail/code-quality/2014-January/000212.html

Another similar package is pep8.

Bug#709922: ITP: svtplay-dl -- media downloader for play sites (e.g. SVT Play)

2014-02-06 Thread Per Andersson
Streaming from UR Play is not possible at all. upstream commit a7c9043301
fixes this. Please include at least that in a new package.

This is not quite correct. Some videos lack a HD stream exposed via
flash. See bug report here: https://github.com/spaam/svtplay-dl/issues/61
But nonetheless, I agree, should be part of the upload.

I did try downloading non-HD streams, i.e. without the -H option.

 root@saturn:~# svtplay-dl http://tv.nrk.no/program/koid75007313/lysleite

I don't know either.

What link for tv3play did you use? I tried one at random, and had no
issues, and there were no redirects to tvplay.lv.

I used http://tv3play.lv/ Still get the redirects to tvplay.lv.

I could not find any configuration or arguments to change behaviour. If
 special
care needs to be taken for some services I think it should be
 reflected in the docs
 some, preferably accompanied with examples.

 I don't think that's the case, usually.

Ok.

Please check with upstream if it is possible to fix issues before an upload
 to
Debian. If the timeframe for fixes is too long, I think we should go forth
 and
upload it anyway; of course forwarding bugs upstream.

I've spoken to upstream. Hopefully we can get a new release, with as
many of these issues fixed as possible within the next few days.
Thanks a lot for the review (and the bug reports :-)).

Neat!

Bug#578563: Package review

Tried visiting http://test.bankid.com and got this error.

BankID Security Application can not be installed.
yOUR PLATFORM Linux 64-bit is not supported. You find information
  about supported platforms here.

I don't have a working BankID so maybe this is expected behaviour?

There are some problems with the test page. It blocks 64-bit browsers
by the User-Agent HTTP header as you discovered. There are also some
other problems. It's probably not possible to fix completely, but it
should be documented in the manpage anyway.

Does faking the User-Agent HTTP header help (as in
xul-ext-useragentswitcher) make any difference? It seems to me the
User-Agent HTTP header is an incompetent/lame way (on the server side)
 to assess ability.

Tried this, after first visiting a page stating

Checking your version of BankID Security Application...

I just got another error message

An unknown error has occurred.

In Debian its actually a pretty big matter. The more so the longer the
wrongly named package exists in Debian. So it is *much* preferred to not
have it at all, if the conflict is known from the beginning.

I came to the same conclusion myself.

I asked ftpmasters to reject the uploaded foreman from NEW, which they did.

Package is since renamed to ruby-foreman (as can be seen in the bug title),

Foreman is a manager for Procfile-based applications. Its aim is to
 abstract

There's a more popular/more complicated piece of software called Foreman[1],

I agree.

Oh, and BTW, you should probably explain what a Procfile is on the long

linking, because it does actual parsing instead of RegEx replacements.

Bond is on a mission to improve autocompletion in ruby, especially for
 irb/ripl.
 .
Aside from doing everything irb's can do and fixing its quirks, Bond can
autocomplete argument(s) to methods, uniquely completing per module, per
method and per argument. Bond brings ruby autocompletion closer to bash/zsh as
it provides a configuration system and a DSL for creating custom completions
and completion rules. With this configuration system, users can customize
their autocompletions and share it with others. Bond can also load completions
 that ship with gems.
 .
Bond is able to offer more than irb's completion since it uses the full line
of input when completing as opposed to irb's last-word approach.

The short description should be shorter (well under 80 characters) and not

software framework for low-level car audio management

The AudioManager is meant to abstract audio in an IVI setting in a way that
 creates
a common API allowing an independence from routing mechanisms. Designed to
 handle
both dynamic and static sources and sinks it provides an API upwards to other
applications, like HMI. The AudioManager is not another routing mechanism
 however.

I don't know what HMI is, you could probably elaborate a bit or explain this.

Description : Applications in an automobile are often stand-alone
implementations, not integrated into a coherent whole. The Layer Management
software is designed to provide a vendor-specific layer management
implementation that unifies look and feel.

Short description is too long. Is it actually the first sentence in the
long description?

In the automotive domain, most HMI systems use their own window manager
implementation. Many applications (e.g. navigation, reverse camera) are
implemented standalone and therefore one service is used to composite all
applications to final image on the screen Layer Manager. The goal of this
work package is to define a common API and provide a proof-of-concept
implementation for the IVI Layer Management Service. The GENIVI IVI Layer
 Management provides;

 - A well-defined interface
 - Standardized compositing
 - Convenient and consistent access to hardware accelerated modules
 - Separation of HMI and Layer Management
 - Dynamic extensions during runtime
 - Low integration complexity
 - Limited dependency on hardware

I suggest explaining HMI and IVI.

Thanks for your work!

Mezzanine is a powerful, consistent, and flexible content management platform.
Built using the Django framework, Mezzanine provides a simple yet highly
extensible architecture that encourages diving in and hacking on the code.
 .
In some ways, Mezzanine resembles tools such as Wordpress that provide an
intuitive interface for managing pages, blog posts, form data, store products,
and other types of content. But Mezzanine is also different. Unlike many other
platforms that make extensive use of modules or reusable applications,
Mezzanine provides most of its functionality by default. This approach yields
a more integrated and efficient platform.

Bleach is an HTML sanitizing library that escapes or strips markup and

applying filters that Django's urlize filter cannot, and optionally setting
rel attributes, even on links already in the text.
 .
Bleach is intended for sanitizing text from untrusted sources. If you find
yourself jumping through hoops to allow your site administrators to do lots of
things, you're probably outside the use cases. Either trust those users, or
 don't.
 .
Because it relies on html5lib, Bleach is as good as modern browsers at dealing
with weird, quirky HTML fragments. And any of Bleach's methods will fix
 unbalanced or mis-nested tags.

Cool! I'll be happy to co-maintain the etherpad work. I glanced through the
issues yesterday but missed the package related issue.

I have asked Debian Java Packaging Team[0] about the best way to proceed. They
confirmed my suspicion that the way to go is to first get clean source packages
for the unpackaged jars.

Yesterday I assembled a list of jars and their status, see below.

Next step is to package necessary jars and then try to build etherpad, and
possibly separate appjet, packages.

My plan is to clone the etherpad github repository[1] and work on that.

OneSwarm is a fully backwards-compatible BitTorrent client with an explicit
privacy control enhancement. OneSwarm uses source address rewriting to
protect user privacy. Instead of always transmitting data directly from
sender to receiver (immediately identifying both), OneSwarm may forward
data through multiple intermedaries, obscuring the identity of both sender
and receiver.

OneSwarm’s interface is web-based and supports real-time transcoding of
many audio and video formats for in-browser playback, eliminating the need for
casual users to master a new application’s interface or search for custom media
codecs.

Indeed it is. The file crc32.c is taken from those sources
