Bug#863704: RFP: yarn -- Fast, reliable, and secure dependency management for JS

  Version : 0.16.0
  Upstream Author : Yarn Developers

  Programming Lang: Javascript
Description : Fast, reliable, and secure dependency management for JS

Fast: Yarn caches every package it downloads so it never needs to
again. It also parallelizes operations to maximize resource
utilization so install times are faster than ever.

Reliable: Using a detailed, but concise, lockfile format, and a
deterministic algorithm for installs, Yarn is able to guarantee that
an install that worked on one system will work exactly the same way on
any other system.

Secure: Yarn uses checksums to verify the integrity of every installed
package before its code is executed.

Bug#454562: RFP: sisc -- extensible Java based interpreter of the algorithmic language Scheme

2007-12-06 Thread Pierre THIERRY

Severity: wishlist

* Package name: sisc
  Version : 1.16.6
Upstream Author : Scott G. Miller [EMAIL PROTECTED]
* URL : http://sisc-scheme.org/
* License : GPL/MPL
  Programming Lang: Java, Scheme
Description : extensible Java based interpreter of the algorithmic
language Scheme

SISC is an extensible Java based interpreter of the algorithmic language
Scheme. SISC uses modern interpretation techniques, and handily
outperforms all existing JVM interpreters (often by more than an order
of magnitude).

In addition, SISC is a complete implementation of the language. The
entire R5RS Scheme standard is supported, no exceptions. This includes a
full number tower including complex number support, arbitrary precision
integers and floating point numbers, as well as hygienic R5RS macros,
proper tail recursion, and first-class continuations (not just the
escaping continuations as in many limited Scheme systems). SISC also
attempts to implement the standard as correctly as possible, while still
providing exceptional performance.

SISC also provides useful real-world extensions, such as networking,
elegant exception handling, a scope-friendly module system, support for
SLIB, numerous SRFIs, and a Java foreign-function interface.

Finally, native functionality can be added through the use of Modules,
extensions that may add new types, values, and functions to the
language. These extensions can be packaged into scopable modules at the
Scheme level as well.

Bug#454566: RFP: clojure -- a Lisp dialect for the JVM

  Programming Lang: Java
Description : a Lisp dialect for the JVM

Clojure is a dynamic programming language that targets the Java Virtual
Machine. It is designed to be a general-purpose language, combining the
approachability and interactive development of a scripting language with
an efficient and robust infrastructure for multithreaded programming.
Clojure is a compiled language - it compiles directly to JVM bytecode,
yet remains completely dynamic. Every feature supported by Clojure is
supported at runtime. Clojure provides easy access to the Java
frameworks, with optional type hints and type inference, to ensure that
calls to Java can avoid reflection.

Clojure is a dialect of Lisp, and shares with Lisp the code-as-data
philosophy and a powerful macro system. Clojure is predominantly a
functional programming language, and features a rich set of immutable,
persistent data structures. When mutable state is needed, Clojure offers
a software transactional memory system and reactive Agent system that
ensure clean, correct, multithreaded designs.

Description : free optimizing incremental native-code compiler for R6RS

Ikarus is an optimizing compiler, so your Scheme code will run fast
without the need to port hot spots to C for performance. With an
incremental compiler, you don't need a separate compilation step to make
your program run fast. The best part is that the compiler itself is
fast, capable of compiling thousands of lines of code per second.

Finally, Ikarus is an R6RS compiler. R6RS is the latest revision of the
Scheme standard. The preliminary release of Ikarus supports over 80% of
the most important features R6RS, and later releases will bring Ikarus
closer to full R6RS conformance. R6RS libraries, scripts, record types,
condition system, exception handling, unicode strings, bytevectors,
hashtable, and enumerations are among the supported features.

That's already the name of binary package, FWIW.

I try to name the source package as closely as possible to the upstream
package. So MT19937 becomes mt19937, although the binary package
generated is cl-mt19937, Salza-PNG becomes salza-png and generates a
binary package cl-salza-png, whereas CL-Vectors is cl-vectors for both

It seems pretty typical of Debian to me.

problem, since it is still very fast.

This package provides the following libraries:

cl-paths is a basic vectorial paths library. Paths can be described by 4
types of interpolations, including Bezier curves of any degree, and
Catmull-Rom splitens.

Some path transformations are included. There is stroking, dashing and
clipping transformations available. But none of these transformation are
implemented perfectly, in the sense that algorithms used in the library
are rather simples.

cl-paths-ttf uses the zpb-ttf library to create paths from glyphs or
string from a given TTF font file.

cl-aa is an anti-aliasing library.

cl-aa-misc is library to render, save, load and display PNM images.

cl-vectors includes systems cl-paths and cl-aa, and also provides a
function to use the former with the latter.

The Moodbar is an algorithm for creating a colorful visual
representation of the contents of an audio file, giving an idea of its
mood (this is a rather fanciful term for the simple analysis it
actually does). The Moodbar was invented by Gavin Wood and Simon
O'Keefe for inclusion in the Amarok music player.

This package contains a GStreamer plugin with elements that are used
in the moodbar analysis, and an application that actually does the
analysis.

Description : text-to-HTML conversion tool for web writers

Markdown is a text-to-HTML conversion tool for web writers. Markdown
allows you to write using an easy-to-read, easy-to-write plain text
format, then convert it to structurally valid XHTML (or HTML).

Thus, Markdown is two things: a plain text markup syntax, and a
software tool, written in Perl, that converts the plain text markup
to HTML.

Markdown works both as a Movable Type plug-in and as a standalone Perl
script -- which means it can also be used as a text filter in BBEdit
(or any other application that supporst filters written in Perl).

swfmill is a tool to process Shockwave Flash(TM) (SWF) files. It can
convert SWF from and to an XML-dialect called swfml, which is closely
modeled after the SWF file format.

Apart from this xml2swf and swf2xml functionality, it also provides a
libxslt-based XSL transformator that supports an extension (swft)
which helps with generating IDs for SWF objects and can import an SWF as
XML using an XPath command (swft:document()).

As a simple application of such functionality, swfmill can pack together
a bunch of media files (currently JPGs, PNGs, TTFs and other SWFs) into
an SWF as library objects for your attachMovie() pleasure.

Hi,

I wanted to try to package these XML Schemas, and found them on the

Because there was no copyright notice with them, I asked Norman Wlash
for the license they should be distributed under.

He told me these schemas were too bad for the moment, and should not be
distributed at all. There will be schemas for the 5.x releases of
DocBook (after the 4.3, so we'll have to wait).

schema for your database. Nextobjects can generate the corresponding SQL
code for 15 databases, strongly designed java code (featuring Torque ).
