Bug#457486: RFA: gpsim -- Simulator for Microchip's PIC microcontrollers

2007-12-22 Thread Steffen Joeris
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Hi

My debian time is already taken by other debian things, so I am not
finding enough time to maintain this package properly.
If you are willing to take it over, be my guest. However, I guess it is
a good idea to also adopt the documentation package (gpsim-doc), the
module packages (gpsim-lcd, gpsim-logic, gpsim-lcd-graphic and gpsim-logic)
and the ktechlab package, which needs gpsim. Therefore, please take all
of them in one round :)

Cheers
Steffen

The package description is:
Gpsim is a full-featured software simulator for Microchip PIC microcontrollers.
 .
Gpsim has been designed to be as accurate as possible. Accuracy includes the
entire PIC - from the core to the I/O pins and including ALL of the internal
peripherals. Thus it's possible to create stimuli and tie them to the I/O pins
and test the PIC the same PIC the same way you would in the real world.
 .
Gpsim has been designed to be as fast as possible. Real time simulation speeds
 of 20Mhz PICs are possible.
 .
Gpsim has been designed to be as useful as possible. The standard simulation
paradigm including breakpoints, single stepping, disassembling, memory inspect
change, have been implemented. In addition, gpsim supports many debugging
features that are only available with in-circuit emulators. For example, a
continuous trace buffer tracks every action of the simulator. Also, it's
possible to set read and write break points on values (e.g. break if a specific
value is read from or written to a register).

I am in many projects already, but especially for the first time, I can have a

I am not sure, if I get to it before christmas or the new year, so you or

Thanks for the offer and I wish you merry christmas.
Hope we can catch up next semester for some food and a drink again :)

Bug#446446: RFA: k3dsurf -- tool for mathematical surfaces

2007-10-12 Thread Steffen Joeris
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Hi

I request an adopter for the k3dsurf package.

The package description is:
K3DSurf is a program to visualize and manipulate Multidimensional
surfaces by using Mathematical equations. It's also a Modeler for
POV-Ray in the area of parametric surfaces.
 .
  Homepage: http://k3dsurf.sourceforge.net/

Popcon states 363 users and I guess that this package is really much
appreciated by some math teachers. Upstream is very friendly and
concerned about debian. It was a pleasure to work with him. At the
moment, there is still a problem (segfault) on amd64, which needs
debugging.

I would be very happy, if this package finds a new home and someone who
works together with upstream.

Bug#446449: RFA: dc-qt -- GUI frontend for the dc protocol

2007-10-12 Thread Steffen Joeris
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

Hi

This package really did a good job here and helped me a lot with my
local uni network. At the moment, I am using linuxdcpp though, which has
probably some more features. However, popcon states 196 users.
Please take good care of it, if it turns out not to be removed in favor
of linuxdcpp.

The package description is:
dc-qt is a qt front-end for the dctc program. dctc handles all
communication with dc hubs and clients, while dc-qt presents an
interface that has many of the features of the original directconnect
client, plus some really useful improvements.
 .
It is intended for peer-based file-sharing. In practise it works better than
gnutella and other similar systems as it allows dc hubs (servers)
administators to require clients to share specified amount of data. The
amount is usually based on type of client's connection and it is used not
to hurt or exclude anybody but to make file sharing fair play.
 .
dc-qt is still alpha, so some care has to be taken - try it out!

   * Several GUI Controls (Docking Menu, Station Quickbar, Radio Display)
   * Recording capabilities, including MP3 and Ogg/Vorbis encoding

Bug#289392: getting package into Debian

2007-01-15 Thread Steffen Joeris
Hi mate

I saw that the package is already in ubuntu and I got some feedback from
teachers who consider it usefull, so I would like to ask you if you maybe
want to include the package into debian?
You can follow these guidelines[0] if you are unsure about debian procedures.
You can also contact me directly if you need anything.

Hi Daniel

I request this in the name of the utnubu team :)
It makes it easier if the people who are maintaining it in Ubuntu directly do
it in debian (sponsors can be found in various places, including
[EMAIL PROTECTED] or the utnubu-discuss list).
Of course if you do not have the time to do that here I can understand it.
Thanks for your feedback.

Hi mates

First of all I wish you all a happy new year.
The needed library should be in debian and I would like to ask you for the
current status and I would like to suggest that you both work together in
order to get the package into debian. As Daniel seems to be really active I
would also suggest him to go ahead and get the package into Debian, I hope
you do not worry Kai, otherwise I am sure that you would be a good packaging
team. Some usefull information can be found here[0] to get the package into
debian, but I guess Daniel is pretty much aware of it as an experienced
developer.

Hi

After some communication with the current maintainer he agreed in
orphaning this package. If you want to adopt the package, please go

the maintainer.

Package: mga-vid-source

Description: Kernel driver for the back-end scaler on Matrox cards (source)
The mga_vid module will enable you to use the back-end scaler found on
many Matrox cards. If you own a Matrox card, and use your Debian system

you definitely want this piece of software, as it is the best video
 output driver available.
 .
This package just contain the sources needed to build the kernel module.
To actually use it, you'll have to compile it to match your installed
 kernel. Refer to /usr/share/doc/mga-vid-source/README.Debian for
information on how to do this.

Package: mga-vid-common

Description: Module aliases and test program for /dev/mga_vid
This package contains the program 'mga_vid_test', which has one mission
in life: to verify that the mga_vid driver works correctly.
 .
It also contains some configuration files for devfs and modutils so that
the module gets loaded automatically on demand and so that the device
node will be created with proper permissions (if you're using devfs).

Hi

I am interested in becoming a co-maintainer of gpsdrive.
I'm using the upstream version for some time now and have a fairly
good understanding how gpsdrive is organised, what is needed, etc.
Therefore i would definitly appreciate a well working gpsdrive package

Also, i believe this would be a nice starting point for me
contributing to debian which i plan to do since a little while :)
Nice, I am putting the current maintainer into cc and you can discuss future
steps with him. I wish you both good luck.

Bug#387778: code duplication

2006-09-23 Thread Steffen Joeris
Hi

I looked into this package and as far as I can see it a lot of the source code
is in the gpsim package and imho the libraries could be provided by the gpsim
package. When I prepare the next upload of gpsim I will keep that in mind (as
long as nobody shouts here) and try to provide them and after that this
package can be removed from the archive.

Dividing the packages would mean to take a lot of headers from the gpsim
package anyway and I don't see a reason for that, but please feel free to
convience me.

* URL : http://dc-qt.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: C++
Description : GUI frontend for the dc protocol

dc-qt is a qt front-end for the dctc program. dctc handles all
communication with dc hubs and clients, while dc-qt presents an
interface that has many of the features of the original directconnect
client, plus some really useful improvements.

I am really interested in that package as I use it on a daily basis at
university.

2006-01-18 Thread Steffen Joeris
You should be aware that per the current REJECT_FAQ [1]
your package will be automatically rejected because it uses the PHP
License. Several weeks ago I emailed the FTP Masters[2], requesting that
they accept the PHP Licence for all PHP Group software, backed up by
extensive debian-legal discussion. They were explicitely invited to
either modify their rejection criteria, or continue the debian-legal
debate, both of which they have failed to do. I am now re-extending that
 invitation.

 Charles

1. http://ftp-master.debian.org/REJECT-FAQ.html
2. http://lists.debian.org/debian-legal/2006/01/msg00066.html
Hi

Thanks for the information. I haven't noticed it before because I saw various
packages in Debian using the PHP license.
I told my sponsor to wait with the upload. I will ask him for upload when PHP
license is DFSG compatible or tell him to drop it if the project disagree
with the PHP license. Nevertheless i think the project should make a
decision. Waiting for it now ...

I am interested in adopting foo2zjs.

The new packages are available at:

It is pbuilder-clean. I also wrote the missing manpages and the new upstream
release is included.
Lintian has only some warnings. The existing manpages of the author have some
minor problems (I will fix it in the future) but these issues also exists in
the current version.
So it would be nice if you can sponsor the upload.

Please give a feedback wether you agree with my intention or not.

and manipulate finite domain variables, arithmetic expressions and
constraints (possibly non-linear), built-in global constraints and
search goals. FaCiLe allows as well to build easily user-defined
constraints and goals (including recursive ones), making pervasive use
of OCaml higher-order functionals to provide a simple and flexible
interface for the user. As FaCiLe is an OCaml library and not yet
another language, the user benefits from type inference and strong
typing discipline, high level of abstraction, modules and objects
system, as well as native code compilation efficiency, garbage
collection and replay debugger, all features of OCaml (among many
others) that allow to prototype and experiment quickly: modeling, data
processing and interface are implemented with the same powerful and
 efficient language.

Package: wnpp

* Package name: abakus
  Version : 0.90
Upstream Author : Michael Pyne [EMAIL PROTECTED]

  Description : KDE calculator

This program is a simple calculator for the KDE.
Think of it as bc (the command-line calculator) with a nice GUI.
It is more userfriendly and not as blindness as most other
calculators, because of its it is possible to make calculations
 with only a few clicks.

I have no idea what that sentence means. I generally try not to
criticize descriptions unless I can offer something better, but I'm at a
complete loss on this one. Not as blindess? because of its it is...?

 Anybody?

 Steve

Hi Steve

I took this description to make clear that it is more userfriendly then other
calc-applications. Aehm well ...

What about:

This program is a calculator for KDE.
Think of it as bc (the command-line calculator) with a nice GUI.
It is very userfriendly and provides many difficult calculations
with only a few clicks.

Bug#268702: Take the ITP

2005-10-15 Thread Steffen Joeris
I talked to Pedro and he said that he is right busy and feels no longer
responsibility for the package.
He agreed that I take it.
So now I am working on it and make it ready for upload to debian.

Bug#302538: Please check if it is needed and if yes please help

2005-10-14 Thread Steffen Joeris
Hi

I started to debianize UniGnuplot, a graphical frontend for Gnuplot.
Now I am at a point where I can't maintain it, because there are some bugs
which may be easy for a Tcl/Tk coder, but not for me ;=)

The package seems to have a dead upstream!!!
If someone here is interested in maintaining this Tcl/Tk program please take
it over.
My last version is available at
http://www.formorer.de~/white/debian/unignuplot/
I wrote a summary of the bugs in the README.Debian, please have a look at it.

I would enjoy to see unignuplot in debian, but notice that it seems to have a
dead upstream.

Greetings
Steffen

Bug#331636: [Maintainer] Re: Bug#331636: ITP: scorereadingtrainer -- Trainer for reading music notes

2005-10-05 Thread Steffen Joeris

Might be the late hour, but I found that package name uneasy to read.
Since upstream is using space seperations on his homepage, wouldn't it
be worth to think about naming the package e.g. score-reading-trainer?

 Yours sincerely,
   Alexander
Hi Alexander

I agree, I will change the name, thanks for your hint

Greetings
Steffen
