Bug#522482: RFP: pyamg -- Algebraic multigrid solvers

2009-04-04 Thread Viral Shah

Package: wnpp
Severity: RFP

The pyamg package provides a suite of multigrid solvers to be used in
conjunction with scipy and numpy. Debian packages are available
upstream. It would be nice to make this available in the repositories.

AMG is a multilevel technique for solving large-scale linear systems
with optimal or near-optimal efficiency. Unlike geometric multigrid,
AMG requires little or no geometric information about the underlying
problem and develops a sequence of coarser grids directly from the
input matrix. This feature is especially important for problems
discretized on unstructured meshes and irregular grids.

Why do we need two moxises in debian?

Because there are 2 forked versions.
Some people might want to stick with the original, and others might
to use the new one.

I thought that the original mosix.com development might be closed from
now on, but that doesn't seem to be the case. So, I figured it might be
easier to just distribute a new version.

Currently, only the kernel patches are different, but I expect the userland
tools to start differing in a couple of months, and they would then be
2 different projects. openmosix aims to be a separte clustering effort with
its own direction in the future.

Bug#120691: [viral@debian.org: RFP: crystal -- Free and portable 3d game development kit.]

2001-11-24 Thread Viral Shah
I discussed some issues with Daniel Burrows,
but I'have got some problems to know all needed libs
either for Build and Running and wonder if there are some fair tools in
 dh_*

I thought debhelper figured out all the runtime library dependencies.
dh_shlibdeps ?

I discussed some issues with a developper and I think I should create
 /usr/include/crystalspace and keep
 /usr/lib/crystalspace/lib

There is a config script that should allow to deal with this.

Along the lines of gtk-config ?
For large projects, this is indeed a good idea.

I think shlibs is not needed since .so generated are plugins for
 crystalspace engine
 like .so in apache.

Oh, ok. I thought they were libraries.

I ran bts retitle 120691 ITP: crystal
as suggested by a debian devel to transform RFP in ITP

Cool !

You don't need a 3d board to try the demos since the soft renderer don't
 need this.

But if a 3d board is available, will crystal use hardware accel ?
