Bug#522482: RFP: pyamg -- Algebraic multigrid solvers

2009-04-03 Thread Viral Shah

Package: wnpp
Severity: RFP

The pyamg package provides a suite of multigrid solvers to be used in
conjunction with scipy and numpy. Debian packages are available
upstream. It would be nice to make this available in the repositories.

AMG is a multilevel technique for solving large-scale linear systems
with optimal or near-optimal efficiency. Unlike geometric multigrid,
AMG requires little or no geometric information about the underlying
problem and develops a sequence of coarser grids directly from the
input matrix. This feature is especially important for problems
discretized on unstructured meshes and irregular grids.

Bug#159792: ITP: openmosixview -- Same as mosixview, but for openmosix

2002-09-05 Thread Viral Shah
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2002-09-05
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: openmosixview
  Version : 1.2
  Upstream Author : Matthias Rechenburg <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://www.openmosixview.com/
* License : GPL
Description : Same as mosixview, but for openmosix

This is the same as the current mosixview package, but since the split
to openmosix happened, this package was rewritten by the author.
It provides a graphical tool for managing openmosix nodes.

Here is Kyle's original mail due to which I orphaned it. I wasn't able
to spend time on it anyways.. If Kyle can't take it up for some reason,
you should take it up..

Mind if I hijack this? The upstream author has fed me patches [he knows
I'm a DD and works on CryptoAPI with me] that he wants to get in Debian.

If you still want this package, I'll mail you the patches, otherwise
  could you orphan the package?

  Regards,
  Kyle

Bug#156827: O: vcdimager

2002-08-15 Thread Viral Shah
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2002-08-15
Severity: normal

Kyle McMartin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> has offered to take up this package as
he works closely with the upstream maintainer and hence I am orphaning it.

I am not re-uploading with the Maintainer header changed, as I am
hoping Kyle to pick it up right away..

Hoping to see the future versions of vcdimager compile for all
architectures. :)

Cheers,

Because there are 2 forked versions.
Some people might want to stick with the original, and others might
to use the new one.

I thought that the original mosix.com development might be closed from
now on, but that doesn't seem to be the case. So, I figured it might be
easier to just distribute a new version.

Currently, only the kernel patches are different, but I expect the userland
tools to start differing in a couple of months, and they would then be
2 different projects. openmosix aims to be a separte clustering effort with
its own direction in the future.

I thought debhelper figured out all the runtime library dependencies.
dh_shlibdeps ?

Along the lines of gtk-config ?
For large projects, this is indeed a good idea.

Oh, ok. I thought they were libraries.

Cool !

But if a 3d board is available, will crystal use hardware accel ?

Debian packages have been made by Christian Bayle, and available at

It would be nice to have them in the archives if they look good and are
done well.
I don't think Bayle is a DD, but I could be wrong.

Bug#116434: ITP: ent -- A pseudorandom number sequence test program

2001-10-20 Thread Viral Shah
Package: wnpp
everity: wishlist

I would like to package ent, a pseudorandom number sequence test program.

The program is useful for those evaluating pseudorandom number
generators for encryption and statistical sampling applications,
compression algorithms, and other applications where the information
density of a file is of interest.

This program was written by John Walker and is in the public domain.

It is available from

http://www.fourmilab.ch/random/
