I like the idea of 256 bits, though: 32 for the (Unicode) character
leaves room for 224 Bucky bits, which ought to be enough for anyone.

The depends has been found by dh_makeshlibs, what's the problem ?

Well I found the libntfs-3g.substvars file inside ./debian source,
isn't that supposed to be automatically generated at every build and
removed at every clean?

I had a look and provide a README.Debian with some kind of Quickstart guide.
I also added a KNOWN_BUGS file found on the ntfs-3g guy post on sourceforge.

Ooh, cool! =)

Your package is arch any but upstream said it only works on 32 bits system
little endian, so I set my package arch i386 mipsel and arm.

I see; I crafted my package back when I was in quick need to have NTFS
write support so I didn't bother checking with upstream about the
arches supported. Nice to know the limits. :D

Re-uploaded to Debian Mentors. Feel free to give new comments ;-)

I will in a little while; you caught me just after attending a

just catch up on winks before pbuilding ;)

Hehe, my sources aren't apt-gettable at the moment. However, if you
did look into the tauware.de link you should see my directory index
containing the source and binary packages for my version of Sid's
ntfs-3g.

I've taken a peek at your package, and it does look almost like mine,
with the exception of mine being CDBS-ed and having the autotools
stuff updated. Your package however does seem to explicitly define
the shlibs:Depends on libc6 (>= 2.3.5-1) for libntfs-3g; why is this?

At any rate, your package looks good (you even have a chrpath to
remove the RPATH, which I didn't see earlier, and that seems to be
good :D); I suppose you could also provide a README.Debian like I did
to explain how to use this driver under Debian.

I already did some earlier packaging of ntfs-3g for both Debian Sid
and Ubuntu.[0] From what I gather, ntfs-3g is supposed to be merged
with ntfsprogs, but looking at the upstream site now seems that the
driver can now be packaged separately. My packages are available for
your scrutiny,[1] although I have to update those agains the latest
version (20070920-BETA.)

No. Well, Zak B. Elep <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> showed intent to adopt, so you
could drop him a line, and you could set owner of the wnpp but to
yourself to indicate that now you intent to adopt it, but that's more a
matter of politeness than technical requirement if you make an upload
soon.

I would very much welcome if Enrico can take it, although I may also
consider co-maintenance. I received mvela's auto(?)-ping about my
ITP, so I'm about to upload the new lua50 to mentors (it was already
there on the old incarnation of that service, but was unable to bring
attention to it until now.)

Any help in the package is surely appreciated. (New patches to old
bugs are very welcome!)

* URL : http://search.cpan.org/~clotho/

  Programming Lang: Perl
Description : library for PDF manipulation

The CAM::PDF library, from Clotho Advanced Media, Inc., provides a
way to read and write PDF documents from within Perl. In
particular, CAM::PDF is optimized for reading and manipulating
existing PDF documents, offering an alternative to other well-known
PDF manipulation libraries such as PDF::API2 and PDFlib which are
better suited for programmatically creating new PDF documents from
scratch.

CAM::PDF supports the PDF v1.4 format, with the exception of the
"linearized" or "optimized" output format which this library can
only read from, but not write to.

Bug#369209: O: animal -- AN IMAging Library written in C

Hello all,

I intend to orphan the `animal' package. It no longer seems to be
used by anyone anymore, and there are no packages in either testing or
unstable that depend/build-depend on it.

If no one picks this up by 30 days (that seems a reasonable grace
period IMO) I will request for its removal from the archive.

And here it is, a new CVS package featuring 1.12.13 ;) Lots of bugfixes
in this release plus updating of some patches in
./debian/patches. Upstream has also merged some patches in as well, like

Bug#345284: ITP: libmemcache -- C client API for memcached memory object caching system

2005-12-29 Thread Zak B. Elep
Package: wnpp
Version: N/A; reported 2005-12-30
Severity: wishlist

* Package name : libmemcache
Version : 1.4.0.b9
Upstream Author : Sean Chittenden <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
* URL : http://people.freebsd.org/~seanc/libmemcache/
* License : BSD
Description : C client API for memcached memory object caching system
memcached optimizes specific high-load serving applications that are designed
to take advantage of its versatile no-locking memory access system. Clients
are available in several different programming languages, to suit the needs
of the specific application. Traditionally this has been used in mod_perl
apps to avoid storing large chunks of data in Apache memory, and to share
  this burden across several machines.
  .
Danga Interactive developed memcached to enhance the speed of
LiveJournal.com, a site which was already doing 20 million+ dynamic page
views per day for 1 million users with a bunch of webservers and a bunch of
database servers. memcached dropped the database load to almost nothing,
yielding faster page load times for users, better resource utilization, and
faster access to the databases on a memcache miss.
  .
  Homepage: http://people.freebsd.org/~seanc/libmemcache/

Note that I have already prepared a package for this in Ubuntu; it can
be found at REVU.[1]

Actually, all I really need is a sponsor to check ECB and upload it to
the archive. The newest upstream is already packaged[1] , but I'd
like your comment.

But compare this increase in ./debian to the decrease of the overall
binary package size when I removed the PDF documentation: from the
original size of more than 1M, I've reduced it to only 750K. My only
miss is that I did not document this change; I'm now uploading the
updated package.

Yes, I am! =) In fact I'm waiting for a sponsor, having posted an RFS at
-mentors and at http://sponsors.debian.net . The packages are at
http://zakame.spunge.org/pub/debian/ecb/ .

My only gripe is that nobody's picking up the RFS. Care to be my sponsor? =P

UPDATE: after reading the Proper Way to Adopt a Package at WNPP
(http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/index.html#howto-o) I'm signifying my
interest in this package. Thanks again, and more power ;)

Hi! I'm interested in adopting your gpppkill utility. I want to join the
Debian Project as a maintainer, and since in your rfa you said gpppkill
would be a great first package for a nm, it fits me ;) Although DSL has
already penetrated my locality, I'm still relying on ppp for day-to-day
inet use. Thus, I see gpppkill not only as a good starting point for a
nm, but also as a simple tool for my own inet tracking needs.

In that view, I would gladly accept the opportunity of adopting and
maintaining this package as per #237144. Please contact me asap.

TIA, and more power,
