Bug#106867: vm-pop3d - working on it?
Hi, I've noticed that you issued ITP and planned to package vm-pop3d within few weeks, but it's been over 3 months now. Are you or Yu Guanghui working on it? How's it going? I am not developer myself, but I use gnu-pop3d with the patch and was planning to switch to vm-pop3d. The question is, should I wait, or just go ahead and download and install it myself (similar way I did gnu-pop3d with Jeremy's patch)? I hope all is well with you, - Peter.
Bug#75696: gnu-pop3d - You may want to package virtualmail-pop3d instead.
Since you intend to package gnu-pop3d (which I haven't heard of from you for quite a while), you might consider packaging virtualmail-pop3d (aka vm-pop3d) instead. Like I said in my previous mail about gnu-pop3d, Jeremy C. Reed was patching gnu-pop3d to fix some outstanding bugs and adding new features, like virtual mail. virtualmail-pop3d (http://www.reedmedia.net/software/virtualmail-pop3d/) is a POP3 server. It is free to download and use. It supports alternative password files and mail spool directories; it can be used for setting up virtual email accounts - mailboxes without real Unix owners for each. This will allow you to have multiple email accounts with the same name on one system. In case you changed your mind about packaging gnu-pop3d (or gnu-pop3d with patches from http://www.reedmedia.net/projects/virtualmail/), please, change title of this bug report so it wouldn't say ITP (meaning that you intend to package this package for Debian). - Peter.
Bug#86458: mod_gzip v 1.3.19.1a available.
I just wanted to point out (even though apache in Debian hasn't been updated for quite while) that there is newer version of mod_gzip available. From http://www.RemoteCommunications.com/apache/mod_gzip/ : mod_gzip v 1.3.19.1a - 03/08/01 that can compress both STATIC and DYNAMIC output for both external CGI and 'mod_' Apache module output is now available. Other features include better SSI (Server Side Include) compression support, complete Location, Directory and Virtual Host support, and new 'Dechunking' option which can now compress responses that are already being generated using Transfer-encoding. Apparently, it has been updated to the latest version of Apache, v1.3.19. Other change in the changes.txt file: http://www.RemoteCommunications.com/apache/mod_gzip/src/1.3.19.1a/changes.txt - Peter.
Bug#75696: gnu-pop3d - how is it going?
So, how is the packaging going? I would also like to point out the patch that is available on http://www.reedmedia.net/projects/virtualmail/ which fixes some bugs and enhances gnu-pop3d by virtual domains. I've patched and compiled it myself using older, 0.9 patch and I've been using it quite successfully for almost 4 months. I haven't found any useful pop3d in Debian so I've looked around and found this gnu-pop3d and its patch which services me quite well. - Peter. Bug#82045: I guess I know where I saw it.
I guess it was freshmeat where I saw mod_layout mentioned several times... - Peter.
