Was able to fix the issues by installing libfreeimage-dev and was able
to fix the font issue by writing #define FONT_NAME
"/usr/share/fonts/truetype/oxygen/OxygenMono-Regular.ttf"

Maybe you can add that one as a commit. I haven't found
roboto-mono.ttf at least in Debian :(

While there are quite a few mono spaced fonts. I have shared a few
that have been installed on my system (not the whole bunch) -

https://paste.debian.net/1285488/

One issue that I found out is maximizing the Window is an issue. I use
mate as my window-manager. I do not have the key that you shared for
maximizing window. If possible, would like the minimize, maximize and
close that we have in MATE window manager. Sharing a screenshot of the
same.

Looking forward to updates.

Bug#1036637: Having compilation instructions would make things a lot easier.

2023-07-10 Thread shirish शिरीष
Dear Oliver,

I tried to locally compile the software using the build instructions
shared at -

https://codeberg.org/klartext/plio/src/branch/main/doc/buildinstall.md

I just wanted to try make without using any special fonts or anything so did -

 ~/games/plio/src$ make
gcc -c -Wall -W main.c
In file included from dircontents.h:23,
 from collection.h:23,
 from main.c:23:
image.h:18:10: fatal error: FreeImage.h: No such file or directory
   18 | #include
  | ^
compilation terminated.
make: *** [Makefile.objects:140: main.o] Error 1

Git log shows me the following -

commit 4ac01b38108f206f29d4f570edc7d1fedb43f91b
Author: Oliver Bandel
Date: Mon Jun 19 02:14:55 2023 +0200

commands.c: more doxy-documentation added

Looking forward to help.

dependencies.

Choose between Gaming and Software environment based on the type of
software you want to start.

More advanced users can choose the Custom environment to configure the

I have been trying it out and it does have more features than plain

Seems the package/utility has been there for around 6-7 months now.

Bug#831981: usb tool to make usb drives with persistence

2019-09-01 Thread shirish शिरीष
Dear all,

and especially @Matt Taggart, one of the things that many users have
been looking for a tool to have live-usb with persistence.

See for instance
https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/118965/how-to-create-a-debian-live-usb-with-persistence

As of date I don't know of any authorative way to do what has been
asked. If there is a tool which can do the same in a simple way
without the user memorizing whole lot of commands it would make it
useful.

Looking forward to know.

Dear Axel,

While I may not be useful in development (not a coder) , I would
definitely be interested in being the guinea pig and any tests that
you want me to run after every new release. Using adequate has
certainly made my life a bit easier, although at times it does have
false-positives. Maybe there is something there I could help with ?

Looking forward to know in whichever way I could help out.

2019-02-06 Thread shirish शिरीष
Dear all,

I believe Paul Wise had volunteered [1] , as well as Axel Beckert [2]
but the status quo of adequate is same as before. Doing zless
changelog.gz on /usr/share/doc/adequate shows the last upload was on
12th Jan 2016 while tracker.debian.org/adequate shows another commit
done by Jakub Wilk which he marked as 0.15.2 [3] .

At the very least we could move upstream from bitbucket to
salsa.debian.org now that resource is there perhaps. Looking forward
to know more.

As far as I can see, it's still an RFP. There is a debian packaging guide at
https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/maint-guide/index.en.html

There is also a #debian-mentors channel on OFTC . See oftc.net

I am not aware if somebody made an attempt and even if they did it
probably doesn't gel with the ways things are.

I filed the bug in 2014, somebody shared in 2016 and now we are in
2018. Almost everything has changed between then and now.

When I had asked, it was a baby as in notepadqq 0.20 and now it's
matured at 1.4 . Both the build-dependencies and runtime-dependencies
are in Debian.

https://github.com/notepadqq/notepadqq/blob/master/README.md

If you do the packaging then Debian, debian-derivatives and even
Ubuntu benefits from it as it's a downstream distribution. There is
possibility that whoever is running the Ubuntu officialrepo. i.e.
https://launchpad.net/~notepadqq-team/+archive/ubuntu/notepadqq
might be helpful although it is possible they might be going it via
the snap way.

Also Debian used to use alioth for staging, now it has moved to using
salsa.debian.org (A gitlab instance.)

While I don't know or do any packaging, I would gladly test out if you
make any packages.

I do hope you succeed in the endevour and we have a new editor in our
mix. As shared I'll help in whatever little way I can.

2018-09-07 Thread shirish शिरीष
Dear Paulo,

Have you started packaging l3afpad . If you need a tester please let me know.

I installed and have uninstalled l3afpad in the hopes I get a correct

necessary work without me doing

make install
and make uninstall

Looking forward to see the package in Debian sid/experimental :)

Bug#906246: RFP: sandsifter -- program/applicaiton to audits x86 processors for hidden instructions and hardware bugs

  Programming Lang: Python
Description : program/applicaiton to audits x86 processors for
hidden instructions and hardware bugs

The sandsifter audits x86 processors for hidden instructions and
hardware bugs, by systematically generating machine code to search
through a processor's instruction set, and monitoring execution for
anomalies. Sandsifter has uncovered secret processor instructions from
every major vendor; ubiquitous software bugs in disassemblers,
assemblers, and emulators; flaws in enterprise hypervisors; and both
benign and security-critical hardware bugs in x86 chips.

With the multitude of x86 processors in existence, the goal of the
tool is to enable users to check their own systems for hidden
instructions and bugs.

It's a useful package as it would make it easier to have a GUI to use

works as a standalone slideshow viewer so possibly could work with
perhaps comics and other content which need a slideshow.

2018-02-12 Thread shirish शिरीष
Package: wnpp

I request assistance on behalf of the maintainer with maintaining the
qalculate-gtk package.

The package description is:

precision, plotting, and a graphical interface that uses a one-line
fault-tolerant expression entry (although it supports optional traditional
 buttons).
 .
This package contains the GTK+ user interface of qalculate.

While it would be best if you can commit sometime, but even if not,
if you could help in
fixing #877733 and #877717 will be good. Qalculate depends upon
libqalculate so even that
would need to bumped up with new symbols and such.

Even an NMU (Non-maintainer upload) which improves the current state
woule be welcome.

2017-08-22 Thread shirish शिरीष
Dear Ian,

It seems unlikely, I actually put up an issue upstream as well, but it
seems somebody would have to package React and Electron and there is
possibility of minnified javascript in those packages which the Debian
javascript team would have to unminify and either send those patches
upstream or hold it there.

https://github.com/vector-im/riot-web/issues/4661

FWIW, the issue/ticket doesn't make any mention of minnified
javascript but most modern apps.

A little backgrounder on the situation
https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2015/08/msg00427.html

as well as https://lwn.net/Articles/703840/

It would be nice though if we can get riot-web through Debian itself.

Sorry for the noise before.

Bug#786808: would adequate be still in stretch or thrown out ?

2017-04-07 Thread shirish शिरीष
Dear all,

couple of weeks back I saw in how-can-i-help that adequate might be
thrown out. I do not have the skills but I believe it is a nice tool
to catch some bugs at installation time itself and I have used it
quite a bit.

If the tool does go out of the Debian archive, is there any other tool
that people know that has similar functionality to what adequate
provides ?

Looking forward to know and learn.

Bug#841986: RFP: pytmx -- pytmx is a map loader for python/pygame designed for games.

2016-10-24 Thread shirish शिरीष
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

* Package name: pytmx

  Upstream Author : bitcraft
* URL : https://github.com/bitcraft/PyTMX
* License : LGPL3
  Programming Lang: Python
Description : pytmx is a map loader for python/pygame designed for games

It provides smart tile loading with a fast and efficient storage
base. Not only does it correctly handle most Tiled object types, it
also will load metadata for them so you can modify your maps and
objects in Tiled instead of modifying your source code.

New support for pysdl2 and pyglet! Check it out!

Because PyTMX was built with games in mind, it differs slightly from
Tiled in a few minor aspects:

Layers not aligned to the grid are not supported.
Some object metadata attribute names are not supported (see
"Reserved Names")

PyTMX strives to balance performance and flexibility. Feel free to use
the classes provided in pytmx.py as superclasses for your own maps, or
simply load the data with PyTMX and copy the data into your own
classes with the api.

There is no save feature. Once the map is loaded, it will be up to you
to provide a way to save changes to the map. I've used the pickle
module with good results.

I need to clarify a few things:

pytmx is not a rendering engine
pytmx is not the Tiled Map Editor

This is used by a game I wanna play https://github.com/dulsi/Tuxemon .
The library/map loader could either be maintained by the games team
or/and the python-maintainers or python-modules-maintainers team.
Either of the above may be a good fit.

Bug#459219: Android SDK toolchain in Debian GSOC project

2015-08-04 Thread shirish शिरीष
Dear Ang Cr and others who are interested in the project,

There is/was a GSOC project to get the whole of android toolchain in
Debian and it seems on the right-track.

See
https://www.google-melange.com/gsoc/project/details/google/gsoc2015/seamlik/5707702298738688

https://guardianproject.info/2015/04/30/getting-android-tools-into-debian/

https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2015/06/msg2.html

and lastly

https://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/soc-coordination/2015-May/002462.html

I have been using whatever incremental improvements they have been
doing, although this is more about bringing android tools then the
sdk, still good though.

Maybe Kai-Chung and Komal Sukhani can fill us in how android tools
helps us to have the whole SDK and have an android emulator running in
Debian.

Also if they have any plans to make metapackages for the tools they
are packaging.

Description : It is the existing bencoding and bdecoding
implemention from the ‘official’ BitTorrent client as a separate,
leight-weight package

This package simply re-packages the existing bencoding and bdecoding
implemention from the ‘official’ BitTorrent client as a separate,
leight-weight package for re-using them without having the entire
BitTorrent software as a dependency.

It currently uses the implementation from BitTorrent Version 5.0.8,
the file bencode.py is a verbatim, unmodified copy from that
distribution.

It also contains some tests and a benchmark.

looking at some of the changelogs seem to indicate that they were in

I do not know of any other GUI-based file-sharing program or the ones
I know are pretty-complicated for a user to setup. This is far easier
as it uses zeroconf.

Bug#459219: guess the only thing remaining is the android emulator ?

Hi all,
Is the only thing remaining the android emulator or something else ?

Also, from the discussion on the thread it seems that the android emulator is
modified qemu. Does anybody if that is still the case or not ?

It would be nice to know if somebody is working on it ?

Maybe it could conflict the qemu or qemu-system package .

Looking forward to know.

Bug#709358: Just filed a wnpp for xfce4-netspeed-plugin

2013-05-22 Thread shirish शिरीष
Hi all,
I just filed a wnpp RFP for xfce4-netspeed-plugin. Maybe somebody
could package it either during the transition or after it ?

Also I didn't know if there was some tag or someway to make sure that
the xfce maintainers know about this plugin, don't know any other way
hence using it like this.

If there is a way of having attention in the wnpp itself (either via
some tag or something else) would be grateful to know that.

Looking forward for feedback.

Dear Lionel,
Thanx for your prompt reply. Just saw your reply at
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-xfce-devel/2013-May/016492.html
. I haven't subscribed to the list but do look at it every now and
then hence saw it.

I just asked the upstream developer what he wanted to do with it as I
had filed couple of bugs I had encountered before and hadn't got a
reply from him. This is what he said :-

Hi,

Nope. Unfortunately I couldn't reproduce the problem and since I no
longer use Xfce it's quite difficult for me to try it and fix issues
that may appear.

Calin. - Calin Crissam xfce4-netspeed-plugin developer.

So guess we would need a new upstream and only then it would make
sense. If somebody wanted they could ask the dev. and if have access
to the git repo. at xfce upload it there.

I would try to check out the netload plugin as well, thanx for the
pointer for that as well.

Bug#648236: Not able to use self-compiled xfce4-netspeed-plugin and can somebody package it for Debian ?

2013-04-06 Thread shirish शिरीष
Hi all,
It seems that the person who filed the ITP is no longer interested or
something, Can anybody take it up ?

Also trying to run it I get theh following :-

Plugin Network Speed Monitor unexpectedly left the panel, do you
want to restart it?

The plugin restarted more than once in the last 60 seconds. If you
press Execute the panel will try to restart the plugin otherwise it
will be permanently removed from the panel.

Can anybody look into it ? I did file it upstream as well as can be seen at :-

https://code.google.com/p/xfce4-netspeed-plugin/issues/detail?can=2start=0num=100q=colspec=ID%20Type%20Status%20Priority%20Milestone%20Owner%20Summarygroupby=sort=id=10

Looking forward to some solution/idea.

 Hi shirish,

the greatest blocker is, there must be a need for the library. I will
talk to the maintainers of Blender and ask for their opinions. It
depends on their feedback whether it is really necessary to package all
extras or just the core of bullet.

Otherwise i will check whether it is feasible to maintain FreeOrion, the
only other game at the moment which would benefit from Bullet. Of course
 i also need a sponsor.

The package is usable, please feel free to make use of it as you see fit.

 Regards,

 Markus

Hi Markus,
I could do that but am hoping we do get support. One of the games
which I have wanted to try is lips of suna (http://lipsofsuna.org/)
which as the site describes it a tongue-in-cheek dungeon crawling rpg
but it also needs libbullet-dev to function.

Looking forward to some progress on the above.

Till l8er.

Bug#476284: Markus committed some stuff to bullet repo. under pkg-games.

2013-01-15 Thread shirish शिरीष
Hi all,
Just saw that Markus commited some stuff to the bullet repo., Amazing. See :-

http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-games/bullet.git;a=commitdiff;h=a80b1bb

What is/was most interesting is the TODO in that :-

http://anonscm.debian.org/gitweb/?p=pkg-games/bullet.git;a=blob;f=debian/TODO.Debian;h=53b2e901df88903aa89b91c359fdacbd05537467;hb=a80b1bb

@markus as a user either way is fine with us for point 1 and 2. You
have to see what is good for you short and long-term. If you want to
have a package for each library that's also fine with us. What you can
do in that situation is make the main libbullet package either
recommend or suggest (depending on what you think is good) the other
library packages. Another way would be to have a dummy metapackage
which pulls in the other libraries. See as given in
https://wiki.debian.org/tasksel (the part about web-server task
package). You could also ask the same in the debian-games ML where I'm
sure they would have some of their own guidelines concerning this.

Looking forward to the shared library.

Bug#631383: RFP: minpspw -- native port of the BSD PSPSDK with freely distributable import libraries and header files for building cross compiled homebrew Sony PSP applications.

Description : native port of the BSD PSPSDK with freely
distributable import libraries and header files for building cross
compiled homebrew Sony PSP applications.

A native Win32 port of the BSD PSPSDK (ps2dev.org), with freely
distributable import libraries and header files (DevPaks) for building
cross compiled homebrew Sony PSP (PlayStation Portable) applications.
MinPSPW is a project that started out from my need to write indie
video games for the Sony PlayStation Portable Console. After realizing
that the development of such software was extremly boring due to the
fact that one needs to spend more time compiling dependencies and
handling the quirks of having both the SDK and Libs available for *nix
environments, I decided to port them to my every day OS (Windows XP
32Bits). This project is different from the Official Homebrew PSP SDK
and DevKitPro in the way that once you install the SDK and a couple of
DEVPAKs you can use your normal Windows Command Prompt to execute a
build. No Cygwin, no MSys, no UWIN32. This project is evolving and if
you would like to see some OSS library added as a devpak feel free to
request it in the tracker. Of course I cannot guarantee that it will
be available but I'll try to see how hard it will be to port and add a
build to the download section and a build script to the source control
system. This version adds:

Support for the D programming language
allegro 4.4.1.1
OSLib replaced with OSLib_MOD
Bullet Physics
CubicVR game engine

Subject: Re: need e-mail and license for debian
To: shirisha...@gmail.com

Hi,

My deb builds are a super hack, basically i builds the SDK plus all
the bundled libs and then pack the resulting directory to a tar.lzma
file and write the metadata files by hand and compress the final with
ar generating a valid deb file.

If you want to make it right and submit to debian i am all for it :)

My email is this one: pmlo...@gmail.com
And my license is GPL, however on the installer you have almost all of
them: GPL, LGPL, BSD, etc... since i list all licenses from all the
sub projects, since all i do is patching GCC, GDC, GDB, Newlib,
Binutils, ZLib, BZIP2, FreeType2, etc... (all the cross compiled
libs...)

Also it will be hard to compile since i do not host svn.ps2dev.org
code and that site has been down for long time and only comes up now
and then... you can fix it by pointing to http://psp.jim.sh/svn but
since i always keep a local copy on my machine i never updated the
build script.

Just let me know what else you need to get a proper build :) BTW, it
should be possible to build both 32 and 64 bit builds (atleast on
intel/amd) i never tried on other architectures.

Best regards,
Paulo

Bug#551955: any idea when we will have font-anonymous-pro in debian/ubuntu

2011-06-17 Thread shirish शिरीष
In-line :-

2011/4/11 Rogério Brito rbr...@ime.usp.br:
 Hi, All.

Hi,

snipped

Right. That's good to know, Christian. Thanks.

For the people at Canonical/Ubuntu, yes, I have packaged some fonts (like
what you saw in my blog before), but they were not uploaded before to the
 repository due to two issues:

 * We were in a deep freeze for the release of Debian 6.0.

 * As I am not a Debian Developer (yet), I can't upload new packages (only
those that happen to have a specific flag set), and Christian (who is a
DD and can upload those packages for me) didn't know, until some months
ago, of the packages that I had made and listed in that blog post.

Nevertheless, I wanted to make my work public to benefit others and to
receive feedback---BTW, the feedback that you sent me is very satisfactory.
I appreciate it if we can collaborate the the development of the packages.

umm any update to regard of this font being packaged for debian ,
its been 2 months without any activity or is it in some sort of
extended limbo.

I did get and read Christian Perrier's response to it

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=551955#40

 but no response afterwards.

Looking forward to knowing what's happening.

 Regards, Rogério Brito.

I saw the whole thread at

leads to the same thing above.

But this was 3 years ago. Are the same things relevant now as well ?

No programmer here. Some links though that need to be changed/updated whatever.
