Yes.

The main current problem is that currently, DRI freezes my machine on
resolution changes (bug known since ages, as it appears, probably linked to
VIA chipset).

OTOH, this version of the DRM is tightly coupled with the ATI.2 DRI driver
for the X server, and this one was worked on by Matt Zimmermann at some
date. And everyone knows that building an X driver is currently quite a
tedious task.

Maybe the X source package could integrate the ATI.2 sources, and build a
package for it ? Currently, I build one manually, which diverts X-provided
files before unpacking. Maybe the same approach could be taken there ?

Debian-X people, what do you think of this ?

Which chipset? I have a KT400 which works just fine.

It could be better, it could be worse. I think Branden has merged Sven
Luther's DDK patches, no?

No.

Package it using the DDK.

Ah, I don't know anything about this DDK - the mere idea that something
exists is quite refreshing indeed ;)

OK, will look for docs. Matt, what's your status wrt ATI.2 ?

Why? :) There's no longer anything that prevents GATOS from working with
the current DRM from DRI CVS, for which I provide drm-trunk-module-src.

Also, are you aware of the bugs being filed about the non-free microcode
in the DRM?

IMHO the GATOS folks should really try to get their code merged... in
the meantime, the DDK is probably the best solution.

Ah, that's good news. Last time I tried, the GATOS DRI required a version
of DRM older than those shipped by the kernel and X, so that their version
was indeed required.

I'll check that and surely close the ITP then :)

No, I'll look at that. You mean DRM from DRI or from GATOS ?

Sure that would be easier for everyone. But there's more than just DRI in
their tree, and last time I checked, it looked like they had 2 branches: one
with tv-in working, and one with tv-out working...

Unfortunately "apt-cache search ddk" and other guesses do not help me much.
In which package will I find it ?

The card fried, so I'm not planning to do any work on it. I closed the ITP,
but feel free to munge it if one of you does intend to package it.

I haven't merged the patch yet, but it's on the TODO list[1].

I assume you mean the infamous, incorrect 1.100.0 version hack. I have
removed the underlying incompatibility in the current DRM, but I don't
know if GATOS has adapted their X driver yet.

Any flavour, the microcode is the same everywhere.
