Bug#168589: ITP: xfuse - a ZX Spectrum and TC2048 emulator

2002-11-10 Thread Darren Salt
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

Package name: xfuse
Version : 0.5.0
Upstream Author : Philip Kendall
URL : http://www.srcf.ucam.org/~pak21/spectrum/fuse.html
Licence : GPL v2
Description : ZX Spectrum and TC2048 emulator

Fuse is a ZX Spectrum emulator. It currently emulates the 48K, 128K, +2,
 +2A and +3 models, and the TC2048.

This source package produces several binary packages:

  xfuse-common
Files common to all variants of FUSE; arch=all

  xfuse-x11, xfuse-gtk, xfuse-svga, xfuse-fb
Builds of FUSE for various UIs

  xfuse-utils
Utilities for handling some emulator-related file formats

  xfuse-core
Core binaries. This package exists in my private builds, but I'm
considering dropping it.

It depends on spectrum-roms and must therefore go in contrib.

(Since I am currently applying to become a DD, a sponsor is required.)

I'd like to, but you know how we psychos are.

If amstrad allows them to be freely used, (only) then they are
non-free.

If Amstrad includes source code, and allows modification and
redistribution etc, and all the other things we ask for in the DFSG,
only then are they free.

If they are non-free, then xfuse must be contrib..

We had a discussion abour ZX ROMS some time ago.
Amstrad allows the ROMs i(at least the Spectrum ones) to
be freely used in emulators, therefore there is no need
for this to go to contrib.

Amstrad allows modification and redistribution. There is no source code,
of course (there probably never was one)

There are also replacement ROMs available, some of them may be free
(I have no further knowledge about them, though)

2002-12-09 Thread Darren Salt
FUSE 0.5.1 was released today.

The utilities and library have been split out, so xfuse-utils and libspectrum
have separate upstream sources and separate ITPs; see bugs 172411 and 172412.
