Being free is what distinguishes vpnc from Cisco's vpnclient. I could imagine that many people would use "free" as search keyword when seeking non-Cisco alternatives. -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hello Eduard, I have been looking for a piece of software to do this for a long time. What is the state of the code now? Does it work? I would like to contribute in any way possible, as I despise the binary/closed Cisco client for linux. If you're looking for a co-maintainer, additional developer, another set of eyes, or even an english proofreader just ask! I tried looking for vpnc, both on the uni-karsruhe.de site and on alioth but cannot find it -- only the old one on savannah. Can you point me in the correct direction? Thanks, Joe Nahmias [EMAIL PROTECTED] PS - I was looking at the old fork on savannah, and yesterday someone submitted a few patches for new features. Maybe when this is set up on alioth we can incorporate them and point the user towards our project. -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.2.3 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE/naTAKl23+OYWEqURAmvsAJ9EbTMbUWjIXcVIa/Vd1M5vaV3tXACdFswd fwVb+X5T4DwUpiM1yOb5tw4= =5uhx -END PGP SIGNATURE-

Yes, but this is Debian, after all. It's not included in Debian unless it's Free. -- Joe Drew <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> My weblog doesn't detail my personal life: http://me.woot.net

I see "beeing Free" as a feature in this case. The alternative is Cisco's vpnclient which is not freely available, not binary compatible to any other plattform than i386 (on Linux). Unfreenes makes people extremely unhappy in this case. > >A VPN client compatible with Cisco's EasyVPN equipment. > > "vpnc is a ..." - because the long description might not have all the > context of the short description, i.e. have the package name right > there. The whole description and the debconf template will be sent to debian-i10n-english for proof-reading anyways. > This sentence is sort of scattered. No. It runs in userspace and interacts with network layer trough the TUN/TAP driver. MfG, Eduard. -- Der Schuldirektor ruft Fritzchen herbei.
