I'm not aware of such a package or functionality. Why don't you put Riccardo in contact with us, so he can discuss his intentions and expose his proposal? I believe a Sylpheed Maintaince Team would be in order if there is interest from both Ric(.)?ardos =D. That was my intention before I put the packages up for adoption. There's even a pkg-sylpheed alioth project created which could be used. This and other things can be discussed, I believe. AFAIK, there are two gtk2 versions: the main one and the claws one. Main is rather outdated, so I suppose he really wants to package sylpheed-claws-gtk2. _Currently_ I have no intention package it, mainly because, as you pointed, upstream hasn't released any stable version and also has publicly expressed [1] willing not to cope with current CVS bugs. I had planed to package it once an upstream version were available, but, if he really wants I cannot prevent him to do it, specially if he has the intention of continuing maintenance in experimental and also when the package get into unstable. I've already packaged standard sylpheed (gtk1) too, it will be available on unstable as soon as Gustavo has some time to upload it, I guess. Regarding your package seems (from the files on your personal repository) you have forgotten the patches and the tools that come with 0.9.7, and also you didn't reflect all the changes made in the changelog (debian/rules has been rewritten from scratch, for example). I was talking about claws gtk2, didn't know sylpheed main gtk2 had released a 0.9.9 version :) Knowing that, you're right, sylpheed-gtk2 can enter unstable, but please, don't make it conflict with sylpheed and sylpheed-claws, that's unnecessary, and maybe annoying for users that want to test your package.
