Bug#274472: Let's remove moria

2004-11-11 Thread Erik Schanze
Hello Andrew!

Andrew Pollock [EMAIL PROTECTED]:
 Given that moria is
 in non-free,
This is no reason for dropping. We should also support non-free software
in Debian.

 orphaned,
But it is in good shape at newest upstream version with no bugs.
Only Standards-Version should be updated.

 only a game,
We need as much games as possible in Debian, even if they are textbased,
I think.

 and hasn't had an
 upload in yonks,
No new upstream version is available since last upload.

I reckon we should remove it.
Why? You will only save some disk space on mirrors.
It is orphaned for 40 days only. Please give other maintainers some more
time to take it.
There are other packages in really bad shape that should be removed firstly.

Perhaps Rene Weber, who was back from MIA in summer, is interested in taking
it back. He wrote me in June, because he tried to get back as much of his
old packages as possible. But I'm suprized that his devloper page on q.d.o
shows
only moria, that is orphaned.
Is he on MIA again?
[CC to him]

Kindly regards,

Erik

Bug#274472: Let's remove moria

2004-11-11 Thread Rene Weber
Hello,

Indeed, nor do I expect there ever to be another one (though it's
possible).

Perhaps Rene Weber, who was back from MIA in summer, is interested in
taking it back. He wrote me in June, because he tried to get back as much

No, but I'm transitioning e-mail addresses.
[EMAIL PROTECTED] is on the way out,
[EMAIL PROTECTED] is the future (unfortunately,
this is too long for the DDPO web form, so you have to search by my full
name instead, which will show my other packages).

I decided not to take moria back because I'm already overextended, it's
non-free, and I'm not a good candidate since I haven't played it in quite a
while. On the other hand, it only requires minimal effort to maintain, so I
would consider adopting it again if it's going to be deleted. I haven't
decided what I'm going to do about that yet.

Rene

Hi,

Given that moria is in non-free, orphaned, only a game, and hasn't had an
upload in yonks, I reckon we should remove it.

regards

Andrew
