Works fine for me, and probably for many others, thanks.
Few serious bugs AFAICS. Not reason enough to drop it anyway.

Not so fast please! Aren't there any alternative video and teletext capture
command-line utilities that are small, not bloated, and do work? It would
be stupid to carelessly drop all xawtv utilities if not necessary.

Let's make sure there are *good* alternatives to all xawtv utilities first
please. It's not as if Debian had more than enough TV-related packages.

What about collecting more alternatives to each xawtv package here?
Personally a good alternative utility to streamer is welcome now.

The state of xawtv is not impressive:

* Last maintainer upload 2 years ago, orphaned for well over a year;
* No interest shown in adoption;
* RC bug (does not work), many other bugs;
* Upstream also seems dead;
* Good alternatives available (tvtime, kdetv).

I propose to remove xawtv.

Yeah, I agree.  However, iirc, many of the alternatives depend on the
v4l-conf program that is provided by xawtv.  So when we remove xawtv, I
think this one binary packge should be preserved.
