It's absolutely OK, you would be most welcome to adopt it.

Are you subscribed to gimp-print-devel and debian-printing?
Both would be required to track upstream stuff and other
Debian printing coordination.

The package is all in the git repo on Alioth.  Do you have
access to collab-maint on Alioth?

If you have any questions or need any help with anything in
the package, just shout and I'll try to do my best to help.
