Note that the Perl core distribution (supplied in the perl package) already includes older versions of these modules and scripts. Please depend on this package only if you specifically need the newer features, for instance the improved UTF-8 support. This will be maintained under the pkg-perl umbrella. The pod2* scripts are handled by diverting the Perl core versions away. As discussed on the debian-perl list, I'm hoping for a freeze exception to get the 'pod2man --utf8' functionality into lenny.
