Bug#570333: RFA: mathml

2010-02-18 Thread jamesb
Package: wnpp
Severity: normal

i thought a metapackge for installing mathml (fonts for iceweasal/firefox)
would be a convenience
to have mathml fonts display.

also I'd like to report that there are rendering issues with this page

http://cnx.org/content/m18192/latest/?collection=col10624

I mailed this message in respect of the packages needed for mathml..

latex-xft-fonts
ttf-opensymbol
xfonts-mathml

Since I cannot find anything related in orphaned packages or package for
adoption, I thought I may
bring to light relevant sources for mathml if it helps in any way..

The site I mention at the top (cnx.org), I believe is using proper mathml
notation, and points to
a site to help install mathml..

http://www.mozilla.org/projects/mathml/fonts/#1.9
 ^ points to http://www.stixfonts.org
 and http://www.mozilla.org/projects/mathml/fonts/stix/STIXBeta.zip

Stix Project I never heard of.. and looking inside it is a bunch of .otf files
^can this be another potential package(the readme in it mentions 2007)

I hope this message is helpful so that if someone wants mathml, they can
install a packagename
supporting it.. also I have little knowledge if there are "integrating"
works(with iceweasal) and pardon
if this message sounds redundant, but I see no mathml easily installed on
debian.(and currently mathml
pages i'd like to see are not rendering properly)

I already packaged STIX fonts for squeeze so you can install it.
It is rather difficult for me to tell precisely which fonts
are necessary and sufficient for MathML, sorry.
