Bug#715182: ITP: fonts-junction -- humanist sans-serif typeface

Any suggestions on how to expand on the long description would be apprieciated. What is a humanist font? I first came across this font awhile in a blog post by Máirín Duffy of Fedora fame who described a humanist font as: | Humanist refers to the calligraphic-like way the strokes of letters are ended | and how the line widths are not one consistent width but vary depending on | where in the letter they are (unlike Helvetica or Futura, where the line widths | are very consistent and don’t vary at all.) Humanist typefaces I think are called | ‘humanist’ because they reference / are influenced by how the human hand | produces lettermarks. It could be interesting to explain why Yet Another Font. There are certainly reasons and those are the information needed by people who have to decide would I want to install this on my system. I hope to, just trying to figure out the balance between the kind of promotional praising that might be used by an upstream author and the more restrained descriptions we tend to use for Debian packages. I find font descriptions even more difficult than most packages, as it is so easy to drift a bit too far into art criticism. How does the following sound to you? | Junction, the first open-source type project by The League of Moveable Type, | is a humanist sans-serif font. Designed by Caroline Hadilaksono, it has hand | drawn and human qualities while retaining the clarity and efficiencies of a | sans-serif typeface. | . | It currently only supports basic Latin characters. Slightly modified from Fedora's description which reads: | Designed by Caroline Hadilaksono, inspired by her favorite humanist | sans serif typefaces. It has the hand drawn and human qualities of a | serif, and still retains the clarity and efficiencies of a sans serif | typeface. It combines the best of both worlds. Any suggestions on how to expand on the long description would be apprieciated. Describing a font is kind of subjective. [1] Upstream doesn't seem to use a proper version number, just a reference to the git commit. I guess I'll probably end up using the commit date for the version unless someone has a better suggestion. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-wnpp-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
