Bug#913079: ITP: strawberry -- an audio player and music collection organizer fully based on Qt5

2022-05-03 Thread Peter

Hi,

I'd like to see Strawberry make it into Debian for Bookworm,
but there has been no visible progress for over a year.

Assuming this ITP has been abandoned, I'll like to take it over,
and will need a sponsor.

@Tony, Louis
Hoping you are still interested in Strawberry,
I have packaged the latest version 1.0.4 and uploaded to Mentors.

Cheers,
Peter

Hi Thomas,

No need to apologize! I'm glad that you have found a sponsor for the
package, and thank you for maintaining this software for Debian.

Best regards,
tony

Hi Tony,

Thank you very much for your offer but strawberry is already sponsored and
waiting in the NEW queue now. So hopefully it will be accepted very soon.

I should have mention the ongoing review/sponsoring here, I'm sorry about that.

Cheers,
Thomas

Hi Thomas,

I came across your ITP for strawberry and am wondering if you'd like to
resume work on it. I can offer to sponsor.

I took a look upstream [1], and a lot of the hard work (e.g.,
debian/copyright) has been addressed and the upstream packaging looks
pretty near to being ready.

Cheers,
tony

Package: wnpp

Severity: wishlist

* Package name : strawberry
* Version  : 0.4.1
* Upstream Author : Jonas Kvinge
* URL  : https://strawbs.org/
* License  : GPL-3+
* Programming Lang : C++
* Description : an audio player and music collection organizer
fully based on Qt5

Strawberry is a audio player and music collection organizer. It is a
fork of Clementine created in 2013, it's written in C++ and Qt 5. The
name is inspired by the band Strawbs.
It is aimed at audio enthusiasts who either purchase high resolution
audio files from sites such as HD Tracks, or rip their CD's to FLAC or
WavPack.

This package is relevant because upstream developers actively develop
and release stable versions fully based on Qt5 which is not the case any
more with the parent Clementine project.
It is also relevant because developers focus on high quality audio
handling witch is a demand of some Debian Clementine users.

Beside that I already maintain the clementine package which have a close
code base so I have a good idea of the work needed here.

I plan to maintain it using the git-buildpackage workflow:
* https://salsa.debian.org/thomaspi-guest/pkg-strawberry

I already maintain other packages as a DM but I will need a sponsor for
this package.
