Re: O: cowsay -- configurable talking cow
retitle 910035 O: cowsay -- configurable talking cow I was not aware of the controversy involving Bug #910343. When I looked at this package a few weeks ago, that bug had not been filed. I am going to leave this package orphaned. At the time, I saw an RFH for a kangaroo cow (bug #700576, filed over 5 years ago). I decided to try to find a reasonable ASCII kangaroo as a starting point. Last night I got permission to use a nice one that someone else had drawn. I was going to file a patch but saw that the package had become orphaned since the last time I looked at it, so I adopted it. I cannot sympathize with the people who filed bug #910343; someone else will have to add what they are asking for if it does happen. Thus I believe the right thing for me to do is to leave this package orphaned (as the person who filed bug 910343 asked the previous maintainer to do), and just file a kangaroo cow patch as I originally intended. I will upload the patch shortly. Also, "cowsay-off" should be renamed to "cowsay-offensive" as per current Policy (which even uses cowsay as an example). Thanks, Paul Hardy
