Re: translation statistics

2002-05-13 Thread Gerfried Fuchs
* Egon Willighagen [EMAIL PROTECTED] [2002-05-11 13:33]:
 However, I do have a comment on the percentage that is uptodate...
 (Not sure someone did so before...)

 Yep, me :)

 Wouldn't it make more sense to say that when 40 out of 40 files (e.g.
 dutch) are uptodate that the percentage that is uptodate equals 100%?

 It makes much more sense to me and that was why I sugguested it before,
too.

 A red color (=bad) for a translation that is completely uptodate is a
 bit of a downer...

 Fully ACK.

 And along the same line, a green color (=ok) when 77 files out of the 132 are
 outdated (e.g. Korean, please do not take this personal ;) is a bit to
 positive..

 ,) But I would say korean *should* take this personal and try to find
some more translators. I am planing to mail the translation
coordinators of the languages that have more outdated files than
uptodate files somewhen soon and/or do a submission to
debian-devel-announce to try to attract some new people.

 The diff on stattrans.pl in CVS (v 1.38) [2] should be rather easy. Something
 like:

 266,267c266,267
  $percent_t{$lang} = int ($translated{$lang}/$nfiles * 100 + .5);
  $percent_o{$lang} = $percent_a{$lang} - $percent_t{$lang};
 ---
  $percent_t{$lang} = int ($translated{$lang}/$wml{$lang} * 100 + .5);
  $percent_o{$lang} = 100 - $percent_t{$lang};

 Looks similar to the thing I sugguested back in the time, I guess.

 Have fun, and again -- /pretty please/ ACK this wish.

Some Japanese pages are broken?

2002-05-13 Thread Fumitoshi UKAI
Hi,

Why are some Japanese translated pages broken?
For example, index.ja.html ends with like this

 klecker% tail -3 /org/www.debian.org/webwml/japanese/index.ja.html; echo
 /table
 !--/UdmComment--
 table border=0 cellpadding=3 cellspacing=0 width=100% summar
 klecker%

Size of this page is too small than ones of other languages.

What is wrong on generating Japanese pages?

Regards,
Fumitoshi UKAI

Maybe this happened due to the recent problems with the build. The machine
was rebuilding some things twice simultaneously and I had to kill some of
it. If you can generate a list of broken files I'll remove them to have them
rebuilt.

Can we link .changes on package pages?

2002-05-13 Thread elf
In browsing packages from packages.debian.org, I notice that it isn't
possible to discriminate between versions. Perhaps it would help to
link the .changes the way we do the diff and dsc files.

By `discriminate between versions', do you mean determine what has
changed (i.e., see the changelog entries)? If so, it would be better
to link to the full changelog, which has already been requested
multiple times[1,2,3,4,5].

Re: Can we link .changes on package pages?

2002-05-13 Thread elf
The full changelog isn't as easily linked. We already have the
.changes file available at the same place where we have the diff and
dsc files. The changelog is buried in the deb and must be extracted.

Hence, I propose something simpler than can be done without
significant changes to packaging strategies.
