But these updated is making it hard for me keep the Norwegian
Translation up-to-date. I've watched the updates for some time, and I
guess it's clear to everyone that translating the FrontPageNews is a
task that is impossible to keep up with. I could automaticly discard the
changes made by DavidMorenoGarza, but that might lead to discarding
other changes that he might do. I dont know if it's possible in
moinmoin, but other wikis have the possibility to transclude.

Would it be possible to transclude the content of FrontPageNews ?
Then it would be possible to Translate the FrontPageNews title, and
maybe tell something about the News (translated), and keep the News on a
separate page, hopefully without to much other content, so that the news
could be included as is.

Since webwml/english/CD/vendors/vendors.CD is maintained by Craig and

It is, it used to be database driven (and may be one day in future)

It's fine for others to edit it.

If no one else volunteers (or has a good idea on how to automate
checking the contents for up-to-dateness), I'll try to do that as my
time permits to keep that data in good shape.
That was one of the reasons putting it into the database was a good
idea. I was going to have some monthly email to check it worked.

Might be a good idea, to add a log file, which vendor got pinged by
whome, and what their reaction and consequence was.
That would be the CVS logs.

Severity: important

Dear webmasters,

I'm pleased with packages.d.o is back online!

But it causes mojibake by charset mismatch so we cannot read it without
 changing to correct charset.
 (mojibake: http://www.debian.or.jp/~kubota/mojibake/)

For example, Japanese page must be in iso-2022-jp charset but it says that
contents with UTF-8. (and Its Japanease pages content in EUC-JP charset.
for histrical reason, three major charset are used in Japan. Many UNIX
releated things are in EUC-JP (Windows and Macintosh are Shift-JIS),
but Debian's Japanease Lang web page is in iso-2022-jp charset. SO,
EUC-JP contents must be changed to iso-2022-jp for web pages.)

 Could you check it, please?

Thanks for providing such a nice home page for debian. Just a few numers on
http://www.debian.org/intro/about
seem a bit outdated.

I give the text of the page as quotation; my suggestions for improvement
in plain.

This is exactly how Debian operates and why most of the CDs are so
cheap (only $6 U.S. for three CDs).

This is exactly how Debian operates and why most of the CDs are so cheap
(only about $25 U.S. for 14 CDs).

[about average price of vendors listed on http://www.debian.de/CD/vendors/ ]

Since hard disk space has become less expensive, you can probably spare about 500MB.

Since hard disk space has become less expensive, you can probably spare
about 2GB. (If you don't want/need a graphical desktop, 600MB are
sufficient.)

Note: I took these numbers from sarge's intallation instructions:
http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/i386/apcs03.html.en

I guess that most first time users of Debian would want a graphical
desktop.

Thanks, Johannes

I'm against going back to a database. Instead, use a text file which can be
put into CVS. The database was a problem because nobody apart from you had
access to it (and there were times when you were not very responsive) and
you were the only one who knew how it was organised. I don't even know on
what machine it was.

Also, with the right format of the text file (i.e. *not* the way it is
now!;-) you have all the advantages of easy processing that you have with a
DBMS.

I strongly suspect I have been removed from the cdvendors email alias, I
have not seen an email for that alias for months.

No idea, but note that we removed the address from the web pages at some
point; people are now told to send mail to this list.

Cheers,

  Richard

Now If you can help for connecting this DEbian OS PC to Microsoft 2003

 Hi Mihira,

Thank you very much for your email.

But my problem is when I download the DVD ISO Files it showing me only
372 MB for 1st ISO and 2nd ISO it's showing me 127MB is this right
size.
That's what I want to confirm with you.
the site provides Checksums for all the ISOs it hass. Please use those
check sums against the checksums of the files you have downloaded.
IF the checksums are the same then you can use the downloaded file.
However, since you say your file is mere 372 MB when it should be 4.4
GIGs, I highly doubt that you have the full iso.

IS that the same size of the both ISO files what I have downloaded,
even
I tried 2-3 times again again it's the same size I think no
problem
in my internet downloads, its even fast download.
what is the speed of your net connection ? What is your Download agent ?

if its Internet Explorer then I'm pretty sure you have a corrupt
download file. Use a download manager and download the ISO files again.

I think I should burn these ISO files on DVD's then I should try
 install right?

withiut verifying the checksums, do NOT burn the ISOs as you're likely
to waste good DVDs over them.

Verify the downloads first.

Ace.
