Ah, that is a very much better explanation to why the content has been
removed, yes. That indeed answers my questions. Of course I don't think
that it is wrong, IF it has a good reason (which I've got here). Thank
you!

But, with that said - communication could probably have been better.
As you probably have seen, some of the translators have re-added the
translations after you have removed them, which obviously shouldn't be
done.

(I won't of course re-add the Swedish ones now, after your explanation).

Consultants in non-english

2023-03-20 Thread Andreas Ronnquist
Hi!

Could we have English translations of the consultants Xuni Technology
(consultants/xuni_tech) and Italian Business Tools
(consultants/italian_business_tools)?

Shouldn't the one who adds a consultant make sure that there's an
English translation added too at the time of adding, to simplify for
translators?

Sure, I could use google translate to translate it (either to English,
or to in my case Swedish), but I guess we want a bit higher quality
translation than that. - and that in most cases could use a native
speaker.

english/devel/join/index doesn't add up properly

This is giving me some headache - please can someone explain this:

For Swedish - Outdated translations lists among other this [1]:

but git log on english/devel/join/index.wml

gives this:

and I do have the translation-check set to
6403b81ac51ae4a449df5d367694633c21274e04

in the swedish/devel/join/index.wml. I have a hard time figuring out
why the commit 6403b81ac51a isn't regarded as the latest for that
specific page.

Can anybody explain this? 1e104c09c0ba is from October if I simply run
a "git show" on it, while 6403b81ac51a is from December as you clearly
can see in the log above, but the log doesn't list 1e104c09c0ba.

Is this simply someone who has done a reset and force-pushed when they
shouldn't have? How do we solve stuff like this in the best way?

w.d.o/support.wml tidy validation warning

2019-05-27 Thread Andreas Ronnquist
Hi!

w.d.o/support.wml uses a tag to make a sub-header and the "name"
attribute which is faulty, and causes a tidy validation warning. This
sub-header of course doesn't appear in the toc-add-entry style menu.

The proper thing to do would be to add a sub-header using toc-add-entry
syntax (which the menu is using) - but I don't know if that is possible.
Is it?

Translations of redirect page

2019-03-22 Thread Andreas Ronnquist
Hi!

I have "translated" the redirect in w.d.o/doc/cvs to Swedish - that is
- copied the single line header, and added a translation-check to the
Swedish version.

This gives a Swedish version, but I see that the actual redirect
message isn't translated - and searching for it in the po folder gives
no results.

I have found that the original message looks like to be in

english/template/debian/redirect.wml

and in tags, but I cannot find where I am supposed to add the
translation.

For reference: https://www.debian.org/doc/cvs.sv.html

How is this translation supposed to be added?

Or we could even suggest something like git-format-patch, and then the
contributor wouldn't even need a salsa account - it would of
course require someone with write access to the salsa repo to actually
do the actual salsa push, but that is the way the editing is supposed
to work, right? Any suggested change gets a review by someone with

(I guess my point is that even salsa access isn't required to

Dear Maintainer,

In www.d.o/doc/books, even if I have updated the doc.sv.po and
translated all posts, the Korean book does show in English on the
Swedish translation. I have noticed that the same case is valid for the
Spanish translation too. (Po fully updated, but book description still
shows in English).

This is in reference to the Korean book by TaeHee Lee (Annihilator) and

Thanks guys, this has been fixed in the CVS repository (including
translations) - It will be visible on the debian web pages when it has
been rebuilt (It rebuilds several times a day).

Thanks for your report!

If you search on
www.debian.org/distrib/packages

you search for packages with that exact name, and there isn't any
package named apt-get - the package containing apt-get is called apt:

https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=apt=names=stable=all

But I guess you previously might have searched in

http://manpages.debian.org

where you can find the manpage for apt-get if you enter apt-get to the
text field.

Fixed in CVS - the 2014 news list included the 2011 News instead of the
2014 ones.

It will be visible on the site after the webpages has been rebuilt (it
is scheduled to rebuild several times a day).

Thanks for reporting!

I think because the top-level directory is persian and not
persian/farsi it can't find that language so doesn't display it.
Changing it from persian/farsi fixed it for me, committed the fix.

But, if it isn't persian/farsi, then the language isn't matched in
tc.data (where it is called from persian/contact.wml), and the build
fails on tc.data line 192.

The question is where tc.data gets it's language names from...

That is why I changed it back to persian/farsi again, sorry for that,
but I am not so sure on how to make a fix that works if the language
name is only persian...

With the help of Paul, I have managed to make it build with the name
Persian - Thanks Paul!

However, there are some problems with the Persian version of the list
which seems to be because the language is read from right to left - the
contacts are in the format name email, and this causes the final
on each li to be a and come first on the line instead.

It's a bit hard to describe, see the page
https://www.debian.org/devel/website/translation_coordinators.fa.html
and the problem should be obvious.

I have no idea on how to fix this, anybody with experience on HTML with
languages read right-to-left have a clue?
